Speaking of Prequels, Cube: Zero info from uncubed.com

Cube Zero, the prequel to the smash hit Cube, exposes the origins of the cube. They soon realize that in order to survive they must trust the man who designed and perfected this complex killing machine.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Furthermore, shortly after having posted this brief premise (originally at the Lions Gate Films website) I got an e-mail from an anonymous person crediting him/herself as Erica Wynn. In the e-mail he/she added further info to the premise.

"I worked on Cube Zero in Toronto and I think the synopsis you have on is a bit misleading. The story is actually a lot more complex than them just meeting up with the creator of the cube.

They never meet the maker of the cube. They do meet someone who works for "the system", but it's not the creator of the cube; the character is someone a lot more interesting.

Also, there are interesting scenes outside the cube and they are a lot better than the flashbacks they had in Hypercube. At least IMHO."

* "Barbarash’s primary goal was to create a believable prequel that would mesh seamlessly with the cube mythology created by Vincenzo Natali in 1997."

* “I hope that we raise at least as many questions as we answer."

* In creating the look and feel of Cube Zero, the filmmakers purposely turned away from the hyper-clean look and feel of Hypercube, choosing to go in a grittier direction for the series.

* ...finding the exit is only the beginning of an even worse nightmare.

* Even as we start to learn more about who and what is behind the Cube, we are left with even more questions as the cosmic mysteries of the Cube universe are revealed.

Cube has been a movie I've wanted to see for awhile now. I've gotta get the DVD before Zero comes out it looks like. Reading about the movie makes me want it even more. Nice concept.

I will say that the acting wasn't great, but it wasn't as bad as you are making it out to be.

Loved Cube, thought it was a very original idea. Hypercube lost some of it's luster because some parts didn't make any sense.

Saw this tonight. Fucked up film. Didnt think the first couple of minutes of Cube could be topped, but there ya go. Jeesus. Also - there's a guy who's the spit of Hurley in it and I spent half the movie thinking it was him.

Good ending aswell

That sums up in a nutshell what Cube Zero was NOT about... This "prequel" didn't explain anything! The only one I liked was the original with David Hewlett (Dr. Mackay from Stargate Atlantis.)

What do you mean? It answered a ton of questions. If they told everything, it would be good. On Hypercube: crappy movie, good twist, good ending.

Are we talking about the same movie? From what I remember (and the movie was that forgettable) it didn't answer any questions regarding who built the Cube, what it was for and so on...

Oh shoot, that's right, they put "prisoners" in there after they were given a lobotomy... I stand by my original statement, that this "prequel" sucked!

If it answered all of the questions, it would take away all imagination. the movie is great.
