FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC

I really liked this one. Checking about I see that a lot of people resent this because they all prefer the novel but not having read the novel and just watching this I must say it comes off as very memoarable. Reccomended. This is different than your typical movie.

Raging Bull was a 10/10. Manohmanohman. Scorsese's direction was brilliant; I have no idea how he didn't win an Oscar for this.

The fights were shot perfectly, and the acting was top-notch.

The scene with La Motta in the jail cell was painful to watch, though. In a good way. Go go DeNiro.

Hard Boiled (9/10)

I fucking love that movie. In terms of action, it's the best thing John Woo's ever done.

Spirited Away: 5/10

Well... there's just not much to talk about with this movie. It's beautifully drawn, sure. A lot of imagination and work obviously went into it. But... uh... what's it about? A lack of real villains hurt it in my opinion; everyone who seems dark turns out to have a heart of gold, and even the "evil witch" is more haughty than wicked. This one didn't feel nearly as satisfying as Princess Mononoke.

Project A: 7/10

Jackie Chan directs/performs some of the best fight scenes and stunts in the world. That being said, a lot of people tend to overlook the GODAWFUL acting and dialgoue in the rest of the movie, even by kung-fu standards. Thankfully, this one mostly avoids those pitfalls by keeping the action going at a blistering pace and has some genuinely funny one-liners. (One question: why are the plots of Asian action movies always so damn complicated? I can explain to most people who did what to who and why in Mission Impossible, but I'm STILL trying to figure out what the hell was going on in parts of this movie.)

Memento: 9/10

This movie fucking rules. Guy Pearce is the most underrated actor working today, Carrie Anne Moss is just fine whenever she's not in sci-fi crap, and Joe Pantoliano almost made fucking Ready to Rumble watchable at times, so it's no surprise that the three of them turned loose in a great movie like this produces some kickass results. The plot does have a few massive holes in it that become obvious once you've seen it enough times, but still, this is the best movie about "amnesia" that I've ever seen.

Lost Highway: 10/10

I'm not sure how to express my feelings about this movie. Lemme say that if you liked Mulholland Drive, Wild at Heart, or Twin Peaks, you'll probably enjoy this too, as it's definitely a card-carrying member of David Lynch's Weird Movies. But some parts of it hit me SO hard in ways that are very personal to my own life experiences, so I doubt my ability to write a fair and objective review. Let's just say I strongly recommend it... and please don't even try to figure out what the hell is going on. I've been trying for years, and no theory ever works.

Time of the Wolf-(8/10): Great French drama with horror undertones, and excellent acting throughout. The only problem is the Conclusion (there really isn't one) but other than that, I recommend it.

Last night:Ocean's Twelve-4/10

Only the second time (after Lord Of The Rings 2) I've ever fallen asleep in a cinema. Monumental plotholes and Don Cheadle's disgraceful attempt at a cockney accent weren't likely to keep me awake

Today:The Truth About Cats And Dogs-9.5/10

Like a fine wine, matures with age

My Little Eye-8/10

Best British horror film of the last ten years. Really dug the innovative approach to the filming (reality TV cameras) which really heightened the intensity of the film. Great work by a cast of unknown actors too.

Richord Pryor: Live on Sunset Strip: 9/10

Anyone who says that Dave Chappelle is the new Pryor is doing poor Richard a great disservice. (And I like Dave.) I mean, for chrissake, Pryor makes his drug addiction and the infamous explosion into hilarious bits in his act. How much cooler (and more agonizingly truthful) can a man get?

Full Tilt Boogie: 3/10

A superficial documentary about the making of From Dusk Til Dawn that's great at capturing the whirlwind of confusion that surrounds day-to-day life on a film production, but doesn't really tell you anything else about how movies are made or what the people involved are really like. It's amazing that a movie that keeps the cameras focused on guys like Clooney and Tarantino on the set can be so boring, but somehow it is.

Ransom (9/10)

A great thriller with a original central idea. Expertly directed by Ron Howard and featuring awesome performances from Gary Sinese and Mel Gibson.

Without A Paddle: 5/10

A decent comedy with some laughs and good performances from the starring trio. Actually had a bit of heart to it, and it didn't seem that forced either.

The Terminal: 8/10

I think Tom Hanks is good in anything, so his "man without a country" was well done, and the supporting cast really hit their marks as well (not enough Catherine Zeta-Jones, though).

Collateral: 8/10

I liked the interplay between Cruise and Foxx, and they did a great job at making L.A. look really nice. Ended kind of weakly, though, I thought.

The Bourne Supremacy: 6/10

I loved Matt Damon's performance, but I dunno, the rest of the film kind of fell flat. The car chase at the end was no where near as good as the Mini Cooper chase from the first film.

Eternal Sunshine... 8/10

Would have been a 10/10 but I really just didn't like Winslet's character. I WANTED to get invested in her, but she just irritated me SO much. It really detracted from the impact of a great story.

Being sick has benefits.

Dodgeball - 6/10. Alan Tudyk, Jason Bateman, Lance Armstrong, CHUCK NORRIS, SHATNER?! Yes.

Adaptation. - 8/10. Whoa. Unique, surreal, but really good.

In and Out - 7/10. Hilarious. Kevin Kline is awesome.

I'd have given it a 0 or 1...maybe a 1 for the first scene alone. Just no scares in the movie at all.

Well the two marks was all for Captain Spaulding. I thought he was the best thing in that "film". I dread to think what "The Devil's Rejects" will be like...:shudder:
