Guest Deebo Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 For some reason I keep thinking that I read not too long ago about Vince debuting a brand new WWE logo at WM. I can't remember whether it was from Meltzer or the Torch, but it was one of those two, I don't think it was posted on this board though. Has anyone else read about this or am I delusional?

2GOLD Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 The new logo will probably be urine yellow with a lime green outline and formed in a funky shape that makes it look like something a cat threw up. Going by the t-shirts this company has been making, that seems the most logical form.

I think that they may have done it to kind of step down gradually from the Attitude logo, so to speak. I mean, if they changed their logo/identity COMPLETELY on 5/5/02, then there would have been a lot of confusion among the public. Imagine if they'd changed the name to, say, WCW and they used the red Alliance logo. People would be wondering for MONTHS, "Where'd the WWF go?" when they saw WCW shows in TV Guide. Anyway, better to just chop off the F for a while, then make something more stylized. Just don't make a total change all at one.

I swear to god, I was watching a video game review show this week and the host said "WW" Smackdown and "WW" RAW. Switching brand logos is a regularly hard thing to do, I think the WWE transfer would have actually made it _easier_ for them, considering they had to the perfect excuse to change it. Instead, they went with the long-passe scratch logo without the E which looked ridiculous.

The previous WWF title, which guys like Rock/Austin/HHH carried around in the late 90s, started off with a block logo on it (even though the scratch logo was already appearing here and there for the first time the next night) and then changed to scratch at about the same time the ring apron did.

I wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry. Could you imagine Vince's face etched into every title belt?

However, the WWE didn't register their current logo until 5/26/02, 3 weeks after they started using it. WCW's 'Star of David' logo didn't get registered until 5/5/99, the day that they started using it. So Vince could debut a new logo at WMXX and register it the next day without fear of somebody stealing the idea because it will have already been used in commerce.
