Papacita 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2004 From HipHopGame.com And the New York Yankees thought they had a heck of a lineup. Don't make Dr. Dre laugh. He's bolstered his Aftermath label roster, which already includes 50 Cent and Eminem, by officially inking a deal with Busta Rhymes. No official word yet on Busta's impending LP. ... Steviekick 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2004 It kinda makes sense though. Busta was on the Ja Rule diss track "Hail Mary" with 50 Cent and Eminem.
Sandman9000 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2004 Well, that was only because Ja Rule talked about Busta first, so it was only natural for Busta to respond.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2004 I know. I'm just trying to think of reasons why Busta would join up with Aftermath. Since their parent label Interscope is happy with them, they get a lot of money for promotion and Busta is already a big name, his next album is propably going to sell really well. Papacita 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2004 Yeah, it's basically all album sales. His last album didn't do too well, and Aftermath's arguably the hottest label out right now. With Dre's production and promotion, he'll probably sell a lot better. He's supposedly looking to drop another album this summer.

Steviekick 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2004 Def Jam still brings it with Jay Z and Ludacris as its bestsellers, has a lot of depth with DMX, Method Man, and Redman, and their latest release Kanye West has been doing pretty well.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 25, 2004 But aren't Jay and DMX "retired"?
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2004 But aren't Jay and DMX "retired"? All they have said is that they won't record another album. That leaves them free to appear on everyone else's stuff, and they have a pretty big backcatalog of unreleased/live material to sell and old stuff to repackage again and again... Steviekick 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2004 Just because your on Aftermath doesn't necessarily mean that your going to be huge. Rakim didn't do too well with them.

BUTT 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2004 Dre's next album is supposed to be coming out later this year, and it's going to be called "Detox". It's going to be a hip-hop concept album telling the story of a hitman.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2004 What I meant when I said will it be another Chronic album is will it be full of Aftermath studio rappers making cameos on nearly every track?

razazteca 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2004 It wouldn't be a RAP album without Cameos now would it? Word Up. So could I expect Xzibit, Snoop, Eminem, 50 Cent, Busta, Pharrell, Sean Comb's dancing fool in the video?
ant_7000 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2004 I guess it was a good signing, Dre dropped the ball with Rakim so I don't how Busta is going to work out. I don't know if Busta has an album in him anymore, but he should do well on guest appearances. I have a feeling the Detox album well be more of a compilation album then a solo album since Dre doesn't rap and proably do a couple of songs that were ghostwriting anyway. Cartman 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2004 Makes sense since Dre worked with Busta and did some of the beats for his Genesis album.
