Playboy Playmates Signing Has Some Upset

Playboy Playmates Signing Has Some Upset

Maybe WWE should sign girls who can...ya know...wrestle...

WWE recently signed two former Playboy playmates to WWE developmental contracts. Some in the locker room are upset over this since they feel that WWE should recruit women who have some wrestling experience.

Well, Trish had no real wrestling experience (besides a little training, and she sure wasn't hired for her wrestling ability) and she's turned out OK.

Well, we don't know that these girls don't want to be good wrestlers or even if they're expected to.

This is pretty much the female equivalent of signing football players because they have a good look and hoping they turn out ok. It probably won't work out, but you could find a diamond in the rough.

Dreamer's rumored to be released, CM Punk isn't under a WWE contract, they get rid of D-Lo Brown...and they sign shit like this.

Gee Vince, think this contributes all to your shows turning to shit?

OK is a very strong word, i feel Trish is watchable as a wrestler but if she ever went to Japan, the Japanese female wrestlers would run circles around her.

You could say that about practically any of the lady wrestlers in WWE.

Of course they are being signed purely on their looks and that isn't a bad thing. They won't be thrown into wrestling matches until they have trained, and even then they will no doubt wrestle sparingly. They are there for eye candy and if it attracts more viewers and makes WWE more money good for them. Perhaps even one of them will make a good valet for a charisma-less worker and help get them over. I don't see the problem with the signings.

That's because Trish is actually in shape and she has the proper mindset and wants to improve. She's the exception, not the rule.

...and you know these two new girls aren't in shape, how?

The problem is, of course, when they are put in wrestling matches. Why not just sign attractive, female wrestlers? You just know that sooner or later, with all these signings, it'll be like 1999/2000. You know, when all the attractive girls were just there, with no reason? And I thought that a while back, with that ratings analysis thingy, that Torrie actually lost viewers. Won't all these girls just be another Torrie?

And 95% of the men.

Trish was an athletic fitness model, these ones may not be. They may have zero athletic ability.

Don't you know, Torrie is one of WWE's most marketable stars (they think)! Just like Bradshaw.

WWE hires women who look good, but can't wrestle, and not women who can wrestle, but may not look as good. Truly WWE logic. It's easier to slap on makeup and get some surgery done on trained wrestlers than it is to waste time and money teaching women how to wrestle, when even after the fact, they can't.

She was trained for the WWF/E style only though. I bet if she placed a couple years into actual training at a school like Kowolski's she would be able to at least be decent in Japan. Later on she would start picking up the style and who knows.

Trish has alot of athetic ability and actually want to get better though, that's the thing

But I think it's safe to say that there is a strong possibility that she wouldn't be able to get the psychology correct though. That is the one thing that the Japanese women are also great at, it's not just in ring.

You never know, she isn't the blonde bimbo type. Trish is actually pretty smart, I've heard her talk about politics in interviews and what have you...she's of course a conservative dreamer of peace. She's not some valley girl dope though as her character is portrayed, which makes me believe with proper training and what not she could be pretty decent.

Now don't get me wrong, I am in no way, shape, or form calling Trish stupid or unintelligent. But the psych of Japanese wrestling isn't exactly the easiest thing to learn. Well stranger things have happened.........

this kinda reminds me of Drew Carrey at the Royal Rumble.

"Hey Kane, I'm in the match tonight. I'm a wrestler...just like you."

Or something along those lines...someone just let into the business out of the blue working with people who've been busting their asses to get where they are

Would you put a primary focus on selling wrestling over selling merchandise? Will women's wrestling, although taken seriously by U.S. fans over the past few months, ever make the casual fan say "Well, the main event will be horrible, but I need to see Trish/Victoria lock it up again!".

An untrained worker in Stacy Keibler will still make more money for the WWE, than Jazz, one of the top wrestlers in the female division, EVER will.

I think it's just ridiculous that the WWE's women's division has to endure this crap. It took years for Trish to train and get herself over as a credible face champion and years for Molly to finally get what she's deserved all along - a heel champion run. Along with a couple of other women, they restored the reputation of the Women's Belt (that was soiled by the likes of Sable and Debra), paved the way and allowed newer talent like Victoria to shine..

The WWE took this one step further by drawing a clear distinction between legit women's wrestling on RAW and T&A male-oriented segments on Smackdown! Not to mention the Internet Diva competition several months ago that Jaime Koeppe won. She proved that you had to be much more than just a pretty face to win such a competition, you had to have personality and a love for the industry.

While I'm not judging the two Playmates in question (and I still have hope that Trish's success can be replicated), the message that the WWE is sending out (not just to other female hopefuls, but their thousands of fans) isn't a healthy one.

Does a woman have to be "worthy" of Playboy before she can be hired in today's world?

They haven't tried to nip and tuck Jazz, though....

Guess what, if you took a poll of the crowd and asked them would they rather watch trish/victoria for the title or trish/victoria wrestling in cooking oil in g strings they would pick the T&A. WWE should not even do normal woman wrestling, the fans want T&A, give the fans what they want.

That's a very good point about the in ring psychology that the Japanese girls have, while some of the actual "wrestling" divas in WWE could probably cut it in Joshi from a physical standpoint, most of them don't really seem to have the ability to teall a story with a match. At a pinch, the only 2 WWE female workers that I could see having the ability to make it in Japan are Molly and Jazz.
