Nike's What If Ad...

Recommended Posts

Did anyone else catch this ad last night. I thought it was incredible. The Agassi playing for the RedSox & Vick/Urlacker playing for Colorado spots were great. Just a really well done commercial.

Better than all of the Super bowl commercials combined.

Randy Johnson as a bowler, while Pete Webber looks on and glares was pretty funny too.

"And the big check, for the big unit..."

Randy Johnson bowling was the best one. It totally cracked me up.

Overall I find the commercial to be a little iffy. They're saying that sports talent is interchangeable? That there is no difference between what makes a good bowler and a good baseball player or what?

I liked the Randy Johnson as a bowler (Pete Weber there as well also made it), Vick/Urlacher on the Avs (the goal was cool) and Agassi on the BoSox (he looks good in a Sox uniform).

Nifty commercial....too bad Lance Armstrong is probably the only person in the thing that would be noticed by a non-sports watcher.

Go take a simple poll tomorrow....ask people about Marion Jones the Olympic gymnast and see what percent of the crowd will correct you on her sport. I bet it's somewhere around 10%.

So Vick got a penalty instead of Urlacher? Riiiight. In hockey, Vick would be like Paul Kariya, and Urlacher would be Scott Stevens. Who do you think is more likely to get a penalty?

Anyways, I gather that they used the same technology that they used with the Jordan vs Jordan commercial to make this one?

You're kidding, right? Lance Armstrong probably wins the "least recognizable athlete" in that commercial.

Even if you don't watch tennis, you KNOW who Serena Williams and Andre Agassi are...non-football fans KNOW who Mike Vick is...but Lance Armstrong...I don't know.

Armstrong is one of those guys where you know who he is when his name is mentioned, but you could pass by him on the street (assuming he's not with Sheryl Crow) and you'd never know it.

No, it's a What If situation...basically asking what if they had when they decided to start playing the sport they play now they chose something else. If Johnson picked up a bowling ball instead of a baseball....if Agassi picked up a baseball bat instead of a tennis racket, etc...

The only thing I got from that commercial is that Serena Williams is one fine piece of ass.

Isn't he the guy who walked on the moon?

But seriously, I recognized all the people in this commerical, but I didn't know it was a joke, I thought they had legitimately decided to play another sport and were succesful at it, that's how out of it I am.

Considering that Michael Vick is bigger than Scott Stevens; doubtful.

I'm Australian and I didn't know any of the people in the ad except for Andre Agassi and Serena Williams. So I'm guessing the rest are home grown sports...
