Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2004 Ok, assuming they will have the cruiser battle royale at WM, I'd want Rey Mysterio Jr. Chavo Guerrero Jr.(assuming he stays champ, if not then Billy Kidman) Tajiri Ultimo Dragon What do you folks think? The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2004 I don't see any reason that all the cruisers on Smackdown shouldn't be in the match. Hell...the only reason Ultimo wanted in the WWE was to work Mania...and now there's a match where his inclusion is easy and obvious.

Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 27, 2004 It's NOT an Battle Royale... Heyman sai d"ELIMINATION" match... It'll be Mysterio, Kidman, Nunzio, Tajiri, Knoble, Akio, Sakuda, Ultimo, London and Maybe Matt Hardy and Hurricane if they want to be cute with the "OPEN" meaning... Jebus 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2004 It's NOT an Battle Royale... Heyman sai d"ELIMINATION" match... Well, who knows what a "Cruiserweight open" is? What I have in my head (I think I read this on 411 or something) is a battle royale with pins instead of over the top rope eliminations. Although that'd be very clusterfucky so I doubt it... Hektik 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2004 I have a really bad feeling that we will see a returning Jeff Hardy added to the match as a surprise entry. You just know he would win the title too. My idea would be to bring in the original Psicosis or Juventud Guerrera.
BifEverchad 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2004 I have a really bad feeling that we will see a returning Jeff Hardy added to the match as a surprise entry. You just know he would win the title too. My idea would be to bring in the original Psicosis or Juventud Guerrera. Juvi might be decent enough, but is travelling around TNA and other indies as we speak. The original Psicosis is currently a shell of his former self. The guy hasn't been the same since he lost his mask back in WCW. Ideally, the Cruiserweight match should be similar to the Cruiserweight countdown match they had in WCW back in 2001. Two guys start, whenever someone gets pinned another guy replaces him. Much like the Tag Turmoil matches the WWE pulled off a few times. I think that this idea would be much better than the supposed Battle Royal with everyone in the ring and pins count. I say have 10 guys: 1) Akio 2) Sakota 3) Tajiri 4) Nunzio 5) Jamie Noble 6) Funaki 7) Shannon Moore 8) Ultimo Dragon 9) Billy Kidman 10) Rey Mysterio Ending with a great back and forth between Rey and Tajiri, and the winner (Rey)goes on to face Chavo either immediately or later in the night. Preferably later in the night, because this Cruiserweight match could be a fun opener that would get the MSG crowd on their feet.
Hektik 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2004 I have seen Psicosis wrestle a couple of times in Tijuana and saw him do a dark match when the WWE was in San Diego. He looked good but I agree he is not what he used to be. As for Juvi, I do not think he is under contract with TNA so he could. I would prefer Juvi but I know he probably won't and it really is his fault. If he could have just done what Jim Ross told him to do, he would be in the WWE right know. Guest Korgath Report post Posted February 27, 2004 I wouldn't mind a big clusterfuck, really. This is the biggest event in pro wrestling history so far and it'll be foolish on the part of the booking committee not to throw in every talented cruiserweight into the opening match to get the crowd excited. Guest Korgath Report post Posted February 27, 2004 Is Keiji Sakoda really a cruiserweight? I don't think he is. Well, according to his bio on UPW.com, he's 240lbs. I guess, since he is of Japanese descent, he could pass off as a cruiser. Personally? I'd rather Kyo Dai be a purely "Japanese" cruiserweight stable, since the WWE isn't fond of pushing Asian heavyweights.

As for Ultimo Dragon his will be involved in WMXX as the opening match for HEAT.

Scroby 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2004 I don't think Juvi would be in the WWE anytime soon. I remember a few years back WWE gave him a tryout match and WWE told Juvi to slow it down. He didn't listen and did the match his way. I'm pretty sure WWE was pretty down on that. And Ultimo just wanted to work WrestleMania and MSG. He's already done MSG so this is just something he can do both at the same time...I guess thats the best way to put it.

JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2004 I doubt WWE will bring in anyone new for this Cruiserweight Open, the only person I could see debuting would be Nova and that is still very unlikely. I would take Sakoda out of BifEverchad's list and add Nova, that would be my list.

I was pretty tired though, maybe I heard him wrong. Winner of the battle royal faces the current champion later in the show. From JHawks SD report... but before he can springboard in, out comes Heyman (with Tajiri and company) to cancel the match after 12:42. ***1/4 Apparently there's no Japanese representation in this match, and to prevent a racial discrimination lawsuit, Chavo Jr. will not defend the cruiserweight title against anybody in the ring. Instead, WrestleMania will see the first ever Cruiserweight Open where any cruiserweight is eligible to compete. And the winner of that elimination match is the Cruiserweight Champion.
