PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2004 You all know my Coldplay spiels(s). Keane, however, have broken new grounds of dressing and playing in a certain way that is automatically classed as 'beautiful' and attempts to mask lack of any talent whatsoever. It would be clever, but I don't think they know they're doing it. Probably think they're good. Twats. The new wave of Zep hate doesn't surprise me, cos it's cool to hate something that's been popular forever every month here. I don't absolutely LOVE them, but at least take John Bonham out of the equation before you start hating, cos you couldn't debate his talents.

Guest Skironox Report post Posted March 6, 2004 Meh... coming from an ex pothead myself, I can safely say all of my stoner friends listened to Sublime and spouted praise for them like they walked on water. I just can't stand them because their songs basically sounded like the same opening 30 seconds looped over and over again for five minutes. I haven't met a single stoner yet who didn't claim Sublime was the greatest thing since pron. More shit I can't stand... Radiohead Coldplay Sigur Ros The Eagles Any rap Modern Country Music Hell, anything modern I stay clear away from. Who the hell are Chingy and Good Charlotte? That's how far away I stay away from the airwaves.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2004 Good Charlotte is a safe for tv punk act. Meaning they have the punk, the fan friendly sound, and a major record deal. I don't care for them, but I used to like "The Click" off their first cd
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2004 Journey. Dio. Foreigner. Dokken. Linkin Park. Metallica. Slaughter. Judas Priest. Godsmack. Nickelback. Simple Plan. Good Charloote. puddle of Mudd. Seether. Many many other generic 'artists'. Okay, I can understand the hate for Metallica today, but their older stuff should keep them out of the generic category. Dio, Journey, and Dokken shouldn't be in that category anyways. Yes, they definitly should. Pre-Black Metallica is the only thing on that list that is not generic. Dio, Journey, and Dokken were cut from the same cookie-cutters that gave us Good Charlotte, Linkin Park, and Puddle of Mudd.

Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted March 6, 2004 I haven't met a single stoner yet who didn't claim Sublime was the greatest thing since pron. You're such a fool. Lets poll a bunch of "stoners" and see if they ALL agree with that. And obviously, Sublime's music MUST suck because "stoners" listen to it. Why must people have such a narrow view of society? Yes, lumping all "stoners" into listening to one group is fairly ridiculous - even more ridiculous is discounting the group because of the perceived belief that its "stoner" music for "stoners". Since all "stoners" listen to the same band, maybe all "stoners" should have their own school - because they ALL must think alike. Well I am not a "stoner" - and I like Sublime. Since when do all "stoners" listen to heavy metal, punk, and reggae? For all you know, your dad's could be tokin' while listening to Louis Armstrong LPs. And for the record, Louis liked to blaze with the best of them...and he wouldn't dig Sublime or Black Sabbath.

Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted March 6, 2004 Sublime's decent, but they get wayyyyy too much hype as being groundbreaking and influential. Right. How many people incorporated so many different genres of music into one package like Sublime? Not many. Especially since they were prospering during the original Epitaph wave of quasi-popularity, they were much more diverse than NOFX, Bad Religion, Offspring, Pennywise, or anyone else breaking out. As a wannabe "punker" in grade 9, Sublime got me into all of these other types of music I hadn't even considered listening to. They are more influential in my life than any other group I can think of. I may not listen to them very much anymore, but they'll forever be on the top of my list because of the impact it had on my musical being. Plus Bradley Nowell had a voice that could knock you out. Amazing.

I like one Van Halen song, and that's a cover. It's not like I haven't heard anything else either, I downloaded like a whole folder with all sorts of VH crap, and promptly deleted i. mister foozel 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 RE: Tool They have their strong moments, oh yes they do. I just like most of their songs are drawn out WAY too long. I heard the full version of "Lateralus" once, and I'm like "wow...they could've shaved a couple minutes off of the breakdown in the middle." Also, the fans that say their marvelous musicians need to punched in the fucking head, because their guitarist is average-at-best. Wow! So the drummer can drum in awkward time signatures? So? His drumming still doesn't sound as magnificent as everybody likes to think it does. The bassist isn't too bad, but he's not especially good either. And let's not get into Maynard's "hey, look, I like to be profound so people can try to read into my lyrics" writing style. MJK, you're a fag that got beat up in military school, now shut up. now im not going to say that "ur a dumb idiot and TOOL RULZ U FAG" or anything like that, but i just don't undertand how you can talk about "playing in awkward time signatures" like its easy to do its not just the drummer that does this, but the whole band changing time signatures in songs is fucking hard, ask any musician and theyll tell you you just gotta respect the musical talent tool has, theyre definitely not the best musicians or band in the world, but theyre pretty good now as for bands/artists i hate most rap, some of the old school stuff and some of eminems, tupacs stuff is ok billy talent>just think theyre overrated and annoying to the ears cheesy country songs(like that "one hot mama" one, dont know who sings it but they obviously dont have a clue) simple plan, any other pop punk metalica post and justice for all, for reasons that have been so argued that its just irritating now cant reallty think of any others right now oh and as for the darkness, the main reason i LIKE them is because they are so blatantly cheesy, i just think that most people dont get it or understand why

Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted March 8, 2004 I smoke asstons of weed, and I really don't like Sublime at all, either. "Pawnshop" is a catchy number, but the rest of it really pulls out my mushroom tip. It went drip drip drip. I think their singles are especially revolting in a sunny sort of Uncle Kracker way, the punk songs aren't punk enough, the acoustic songs are total campfire tunes, and everything is about sex, heroin, malt liquor, and Southern California. The only solo work I've heard of Bradley Nowell's was a disc called Bradley Nowell and Friends or something along those lines, and was him basically too fucked up to play, resulting in high-wire emotion magnified by drugs, manifested in sloppy acoustic guitar, recorded poorly. Absolute crap.

Elbow don't deserve to be lumped together with those other bands IMO, they were excellent when I saw them live as well. I'd agree most new indie bands of the past few years are crap though (odd exeption like Broadcast & Blur, Gorky's, SFA etc are still going strong), especially depressing considering how much great music a lot of British indie bands provided in the early to mid 90's. Zorin Industries 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2004 Now, I don't hate them, but i've never understood the love some people have for Nine Inch Nails. Trent Reznor certainly has some talent, but I think the band has been overhyped through the years. I can think of a number of bands who have done a similar style better (DAF, Cabaret Voltaire, Front 242)
