Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Man, I used to look forward to Wrestlemania BIG TIME. What happened this year? There hasn't been a suitable build up for ONE match. In fact, in two of the Main Event matches, two of the participants haven't been on TV for the past month. How does that make sense? Is the WWE simply losing their minds or am I maturing? I could honestly give a flying fuck about Wrestlemania. Everything is so underwhelming for such a supposed landmark show. Am I alone?
Guest PowerPB13 Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 It'll be exciting to see how badly this organization self-destructs on its "big day". -Patrick
EdwardKnoxII Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 I don't know I think WM is going to be very exciting this year just for all the wrong reasons. IE what's going on backstage.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Indeed, it should be very interesting. But I hope that, for mine, their and the show's sake, things come off without a hitch.
Guest Krazy Karter Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 No one gives a shit this year. In the past they always managed to make a main event worth buying, even if it was thrown together only a few weeks prior (Hogan/Rock). WrestleMania XX is the culmination of a year of doing absolutely nothing creatively, and it's going to show. Last year was a nice balance of old stars and younger talent, with the younger talent prevailing. I'm predicting a train-wreck.
Ed Wood Caulfield Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 I've just about given up on WWE, which is something I thought I would never say.
Guest nikowwf Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 The card is pretty fun. We have two possible **** main events, with two smark favorites possibly coming out on top. Rock N Sock is back, and there are some other fun matches, plus i actually want to see Undertaker walk out - which was unthinkable a few months ago. People here grasp at reasons to be unhappy - of course Wrestlemania is not as fun as when it was fresh and new. It still CAN be fun though - although i'm not sure it could for some of you, as 90% of your comments are b*tching about the product. niko
RavishingRickRudo Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Yeah... it was a little over a decade ago (WM 9 being the last one I really looked forward to.)
The Metal Maniac Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 In fact, in two of the Main Event matches, two of the participants haven't been on TV for the past month. How does that make sense? To be fair, in the case of Kane/Taker, it makes perfect sense. Undertaker making his return at WM would be pointless if he was on RAW the night before. As it is, they're hyping people to buy the show to see him, which isn't really a bad idea.
NYU Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Last year was a nice balance of old stars and younger talent, with the younger talent prevailing. What show were you watching there? Shawn Michaels beat Chris Jericho. Triple H soundly pinned Booker T, even after a 40-second pause. Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon wrestled, despite the fact that their ages combined is over 100. I suppose the younger one won in that match, but that's stretching it a little. WrestleMania XIX was a GOOD Mania, don't get me wrong, but it certainly wasn't one that had any major positive effects of the company. WrestleMania X7 was the best Mania they ever put on. And the quality of their shows has gone down ever since. I don't want to be overly negative but that's the truth. I just hope I never turn into this guy. It'll be exciting to see how badly this organization self-destructs on its "big day".
chaosrage Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 I'm still excited. And I haven't wanted to get a PPV since the last WM. The build up to WMX7 was almost as bad and look how that turned out.
Anorak Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Well, I'M really looking forward to it myself. I've got a feeling its going to be better than the past two years anyway. I can't pretend to be exited as I would have been ten years ago but that goes without saying really, i'm still enough of a mark to just relax and enjoy the show.

Give me one good reason why I shouldn't expect this pathetic excuse for a wrestling orgzniation to put on anything but absolute bullshit. -Patrick
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 The card has enough of a mix of what could be, and I'm guessing will be great matches angle purposes, i.e. The Undertaker's return, to make this Pay-Per-View worth it, something that should never be questioned in regards to WrestleMania. Before bitching about it entirely, wait until you see the show, which is four days away.
The Mandarin Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 It'll be exciting to see how badly this organization self-destructs on its "big day". -Patrick Quick question: Do you watch WWE shows wanting to see them fail, or do you not watch anymore yet call for their demise? I'm just wondering.
Aero Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 I'm really excited for Mania this year, and not only because of its being hyped as the biggest show ever. Not one match has had a good build? I think Eddie vs. Angle, Jericho vs. Christian, and Taker vs. Kane have had good ones. All of them obviously had a few flaws, but most feuds do. I, personally, can't wait for Sunday.

I'm just wondering. The first one, pretty much. I watch to see some of my favorites, even though I know they'll never be used right, because WWE is the only place to see them. -Patrick
chaosrage Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Give me one good reason why I shouldn't expect this pathetic excuse for a wrestling orgzniation to put on anything but absolute bullshit. -Patrick ....Benoit, hbk, guerrero, and angle?
Guest PowerPB13 Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Like I said, I enjoy watching them...but I'm at the point where I wonder what the damn point is when I know they'll never be pushed like they deserve to be AND will be held back by the "WWE style" which was designed to protect all the old fossils that are still on top. -Patrick
Guest JRE Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 There's a thread like this EVERY year. Seriously. We grow up...we get sick of something. I'm...quite excited though- even if 'Mania sucks- I still get a trip to new York
chaosrage Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Like I said, I enjoy watching them...but I'm at the point where I wonder what the damn point is when I know they'll never be pushed like they deserve to be AND will be held back by the "WWE style" which was designed to protect all the old fossils that are still on top. -Patrick They're both in main events on the biggest PPV ever, and chances are they're probably both walking out with world titles. Especially now with Brock gone. What more do you want?

Especially now with Brock gone. What more do you want? I know I'll enjoy it when Eddy gets sacrificed to Undertaker down the line. And I refuse to believe that Benoit will win the belt until it actually happens. With the AnticHHHrist involved, I know better than to have hope. -Patrick
Guest KJ Brackish Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Personally I'm extremely excited for WrestleMania. Although the build up kind of sucked (I do mean 'kind of'), I will still mark the hell out when the PPV starts. Especially if the WM theme is Linda McMahon's current song (aka Old WrestleMania theme). DFA
The Ghost of bps21 Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 I've got something that will make Mania more exciting for everyone: From the observer site: "This isn't the first time this has happened, but at a Rangers game last week, on the screen when plugging Wrestlemania coming to the Garden, they advertised the main event as Triple H vs. Triple H" DREAM MATCH!!!!
Guest thebigjig Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 I'm just as excited about this years WrestleMania as last years... and the year before... and the year before... and the year before the problem is that I should be more excited... this Mania should be 500x better than last years and the years prior, and instead it feels like a typical end of the year big show
Guest Anglesault Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 The card is pretty fun. We have two possible **** main events, with two smark favorites possibly coming out on top. Eddie and.....HHH or HBK?

Guest Trivia247 Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 what do you think were the differences in show development for say the first 5 wm's compared to the last 5 wms?
buffybeast Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 I can't get excited for WM this year when Vince wants 50 bucks for it. I think it may be a decent ppv, but not worth 50 bucks.
Dangerous K89 Posted March 11, 2004 Report Posted March 11, 2004 To tell you the truth, I haven't really been hyped for a Wrestlemania since XIV with Michaels/Austin. However, I have been more excited for this WM than recent ones despite the weak buildup to it. And WMXIX wasn't a good PPV.
