WWE News: Goldberg's Future, Edge, SD!, Stern

Recommended Posts

Guest Trivia247

Well I guess that means those of us who bitched and moaned over Brocks hissy fit and quitting blaming the Undertaker and other things kinda has the wind sucked out of them.

The whole lockerroom seems not to have shed a tear over his leaving.

If you're claiming that RAW is usually inferior to Smackdown, i have to say...BWAHAHAHAHA. RAW is by far the better show, and has been for over a year and a half.

He's right, because in that time span, Raw have had a necophilia angle, two World Heavyweight Championship defenses against Scott Steiner, two against Kevin Nash, four against Goldberg and Goldberg's been the World Heavyweight Champion.

And that's just some of Raw's greatness, folks.

Aside from the main event angles, Smackdown has just been abyssmal. Take away Eddy's title win these days, and what are you left with? A bunch of midcarders and jobbers doing nothing, and Sable and Torrie parading their skank-asses around.

CW division vs. Women's division--okay, no advantage there. Both have been booked poorly and the CW matches are too damn short to amount to anything.

Tag team division: Advantage Smackdown, because we have one team that doesn't suck (WGTT), one that's a perennial favorite with marks, one heatless team no one cares about (Bashams), and a thrown-together crowd-pleasing team that at least get pops (Kish and Scotty).

On Raw, you have the long-time mark faves in Dudleys, 2 teams of heatless rookies (J&C and La Res), and the thrown-together crowd-pleasing team that is at least over.

Although, cut out the rookies and Raw would have the advantage.

On Raw, you have Christian and Jericho in an angle that, as bad as it is, has at least been built up. Raw's generally been able to do something with most of the roster. Rico, Evolution (yes, I know), Hurricane/Rosey, Richards, etc are at least used, although not in the best way.

Raw--has on Austin ALL the time, but Heyman is used sparingly--okay, advantage SD.

SD's just a mess of random matches with no clear direction. Since the matches aren't any good because they get no TV time, there's next to nothing redeeming at all.

How are Rikishi and S2H thrown together? They been a team since 2000.

For about a week, if that long.

No argument here. But a week or a day post-show, ratings-wise, they have what they want.

The Miller Lite Catfight Girls over Stern?

Hmmm... You'd be pushing it...

How so?

Kitana Baker..yum, yum.

Also, their acting was so lame, bad, and Woodian that it was entertaining.

I wonder when they're going to call up this Holegun guy they were excited about.

I can't see the fans booing Edge when he comes back though, especially all of the little girls.

How about with short, dark hair and acting more serious?

Scotty and BC were the team--Rikishi would be their tag team partner for six-mans, but they never really competed as a team when it counted (tag team title matches).

They were apart of a Team together nontheless.

Not like Booker and RVD who were REALLY thrown together

Okay, point made.

However, I'll stand by the rest, especially since RVD + Booker > Rikishi + Scotty, even in the marks' eyes.

My problem with Booker and RVD being thrown together is this...

WHY?

Christian/Jericho made sense and had a background...we saw many times that they were good friends and often worked together to help each other...Them teaming made sense.

Booker/Goldy made sense because we saw them become friends and become close friends.

Rikishi/S2H each like to dance...

We haven't gotten any explantion of WHY Booker and RVD just started teaming...We need segments showing their friendship or at least cut a promo where they each say they wanted to go for the tags and trust each other and respect each or something stupid like that...just ANY explantion would do.

Are you sure about that, Choken?

I'd rather have them mysteriously team up than appear in high-larious skits where they're emerging from the "green room" as smoke pours out.

Then, in a tie-in with those marijuana commercials, they'll be announced for a tag title match, then again, but won't come out because they're too busy getting stoned.

Choken, my only guess is that they first teamed (and won the titles) one week after they were beaten down by Flair and Batista after Orton beat them in that IC Title triple-threat, so it was a sort of retaliation, since you know they weren't and aren't going to get even with Orton.

At $500,000 the WWE would need 10,000 extra buys just to pay for Howard Stern. Think about that for a sec.

Approximately how many total buys did WMXIX get last year?

Raw ain't doing so hot, either.

CW > Women's, if only for the fact that the cruisers usually get 1 decent match on Velocity every week (witness Knoble/London last week). Even the best women's match isn't really that good by men's standards. It looks like they're giving the CW more focus now that Chavo's champ.

The tag divisions are close, but SD gets the nod on the strength of TWGTT. Even though I hate APA & 2Cool, at least they're over. I like the Bashams, and FBI make a good team (who should get a push in the division). On Raw, the Dudz are over (but I don't like them), Book/RVD are only together because there's nothing else for them to do. I like Les Res, but C/J are just there.

SD main event > Raw main event. I don't think we need to elaborate.

Heyman > Austin.

The midcards are a push, with maybe a slight edge to Raw. Jericho/Trish/Christian are the only real story on Raw (well, there's also "Randy Orton, Super-Push!" - do we count that as a positive?), while Cena/Show is the only real one on SD. Rico, Stevie, Helms/Rosey? There doing nothing. Test, Venis, Storm? Nothing, so don't make it look like the Raw midcard is blowing away SD's.

Don't joke about that.

But seriously, Edge would be fine as a heel. He was a heel before, and 'screaming little girls' weren't a problem. Sure, he's a pretty boy, but not to the extent that someone like Jeff Hardy was where it would be hard for people (alright, teenage girls) to cheer against him.

Really though, turning him heel right when he returns is STUPID. He's gonna get huge return pops. Milk that for awhile, and then turn him heel maybe. But to turn him heel right when he comes back? STUPID.

I'm with CC here. Edge should not return as a heel. Bad enough they probably won't follow up on the "who attacked Edge" cliffhanger from last year at No Way Out, but the guy was one of Smackdown's most popular stars when he was hurt. He'll be getting big pops for sure, and if they play their cards right he can ease right into a main event slot (and I don't mean for one month so he can job to Triple H, I mean a permanent main event position). I could honestly see him holding the World Title by years end.

And did you pick up Lawler's "dirt sheet" remark?

What remark was that?

During "This Is Your Life, Mick" last Monay, when the book/movie critic said that "Walking Tall" was a "walking piece of crap", Lawler said that the critic must work for one of the dirt sheets.

I didn't catch the entire replay this morning on Fox 8, but I'm 98% that it was during the "This Is Your Life" segment.

Thanks for the info man, I missed the last 45 minutes of the show.

Yeah - Lawler can often leak remarks such as that one.

For Howard Stern??? They were willing to blow half a mill on Stern?!?!?!

Stern does have an audience of 15 MILLION people... no doubt that if he got involved in the PPV that his listeners will order it.

Stern is the kind of guy that is going to move to Satellite Radio knowing his fans will follow at $10 a month

Well, obviously you gotta wait to turn him heel, unless you build him up as a heel before he returns, which is already too late to do.

And Edge's E&C character was strictly "midcard heel," just like his face-turn post-KotR win was "midcard face." He's too goofy to main event in that character. Rock does a lot of comedy, but still has an aura of legitimacy around him no matter what, and can cut a serious promo when he needs to.

Edge turning heel, calling faces "dorks," and acting like a goofball isn't going to be a ticket-selling main event character.

Yeah, I'm sure at least 10 percent will spring for 50 bucks to see him for a few minutes in a segment where there is no nudity, while Stern himself makes fun of WWE on his show.

I don't expect Edge to go to far on Raw. Actually, I wouldn't be shocked if he joins Evolution. When Triple H says he wants to work with someone it means he wants to beat them, or team with them to make himself look better.

Triple H has been saying he has a "edge" going into WM.

Ugh, I forgot all about him saying that.

I can't see the fans booing Edge when he comes back though, especially all of the little girls.

Even Matt Hardy can't shake off the chicks even after he beat his girlfriend.

And from a guys point of view, how does ANYONE see anything in Edge? The guy looks like a freaking beaver. See also: Test.

I must be one of the few wanting Goldberg to stay.

Fuck what the rest of you think, RAW seemed to have an increased excitement when he was around and if there is ever a time WWE needs recognisable stars, it's NOW.

However, if this all leads to the building of new stars, then it is hard to see this as a bad thing.

I agree with your last comment, but the rest of it I don't.

Raw has actually been better with Goldberg's hiatus - I feel that I'm right there - if you disagree with me, you're wrong.

It's called opinions. When Hogan was back in 2002-03 I watched Smackdown RELIGIOUSLY for the first time in over a year. Thats because i'm a Hogan fan.

Same goes for Goldberg fans.

Brock Lesnar leaving WWE has not had any impact on Goldberg’s future with the company.

So I lose Kong, who I was enjoying when he wasn't jobbing all the time, but at the same time I don't have Fuck Goldberg in my hair anymore.

Huh, it's kind of a push.

I have all the respect in the world for Hogan - he loves what he did/does.

Goldberg is nothing to me.
