RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 Alright, it's on Tonight (Friday) at 9 pm EST. Cast: Caroline Dhavernas as Jaye Tyler Katie Finneran as Sharon Tyler Diana Scarwid as Karen Tyler William Sadler as Darrin Tyler Lee Pace as Aaron Tyler Tyron Leitso as Eric Tracie Thoms as Mahandra. Plot: She might not talk to God like Joan of Arcadia, but Jaye of Niagara does communicate with inanimate objects in this fanciful series. Jaye Tyler (Caroline Dhavernas) is a 24-year-old Niagara Falls gift-shop clerk whose uncertainty about her place in the world - and her role in her family - understandably intensifies when figurines start talking to her. Their cryptic messages tell Jaye to do what she likes least: interact with others, beginning with an unpleasant customer (Kathryn Greenwood) and a delivery man (Gabriel Hogan) attracted to Jaye's sister Sharon (Katie Finneran). Herc sez: "Okay, first off? It’s not a dramedy. It’s a comedy, one funnier, perhaps, than any other comedy on the air at the moment. There are more million-dollar jokes in the first five minutes of the pilot than most comedies get in a season. Minear’s partner, “Deep Space Nine” vet Bryan Fuller, created Showtime’s “Dead Like Me,” which was hilarious at least until Fuller left to create “Wonderfalls.”" http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/display.cgi?id=17172 Related Websites & Reviews: http://www.fox.com/wonderfalls/ (Wonderfalls Home) http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/a...312goody12.html ("it's one of the most delightfully written, expertly cast and effortlessly acted new shows of the season") http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...TL&type=tvradio (There is a mood in "Wonderfalls" that evokes the best of multilayered television series... But despite being peopled with well-drawn characters and smart, audaciously careening scripts that induce bursts of laughter, "Wonderfalls" gives us television's -- at least network television's -- coolest female.) http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/ShowM...t/showid-18158/ http://epguides.com/Wonderfalls/ (Show info) WATCH! Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 I'll give it a couple of episodes to win me over
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 Yeah, the duo of Minear and Fuller is the main reason to watch this show. http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&edition=...tnG=Search+News If you want to read more reviews or news on the show ^^^^ is a really good reference. Unfortunately I won't be watching it tonight but I WILL see it either by (a)Taping it or (b)Catching the Western Fox Stations on Digital Cable. Tim Minear wrote some of my favourite Firefly and Angel episodes, and though I am not totally familiar with Fullers work, I did like DS9 and Xfiles during his respective stays there. The premise is fun enough and the female lead is a bit of fox and it has William FN Sadler in it; so it certainly has the elements of being liked by the Rudomeister. SHWONG~! Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted March 12, 2004 I'll give it a watch. I wanted to watch this and Cracking up a try. Did anyone see that show, because I missed it.
Mik 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 Yeah, I caught both episodes. The first episode on Tuesday was hilarious, while the second on Wednesday was only so so, with a few funny moments. I love Jason Schwartzman, but I can't see the show lasting.
Mole 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 Anybody who worked for Buffy/Ange/Firefly, will always get atleast one view out of me for a show. I won't be able to watch this tonight since I'll be out and my Pop's VCR doesn't work.

Mole 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 Well, I bought my Pops a VCR for St. Patrick's Day today, so I can record Wonderfalls. Plus, in this weeks EW, they gave Wonderfalls a A-. That is good seeing how Ken Tucker, the TV critic, can be pretty tough at times.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 Ain't It Cool News gave it 4.5/5.0 http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/display.cgi?id=17172
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 If its liked by critics, ratings will suck and it will be canceled within 5 episodes. And quite honestly it sounds pretty stupid. I cant wait for Century City on CBS.
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 The pilot episode leaked on Suprnova three months back, and trust me, the show is worth a watch. Fucking hilarious at times, with an interesting premise to boot.
Mole 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 If its liked by critics, ratings will suck and it will be canceled within 5 episodes. I hate that so much. I blame reality TV. The pilot episode leaked on Suprnova three months back, and trust me, the show is worth a watch. Fucking hilarious at times, with an interesting premise to boot. I remember reading somewhere, maybe Buffy.nu, that the episode that is on tonight isn't even the pilot. Same thing happened to Firefly. The critics loved it, the show started with the second episode and it aired on Fridays.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 They are airing the pilot first. The next episode though...is the ELEVENTH episode shot
Mole 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 Ohhhh, my bad. That is even worse though. Stupid Fox. Are they also the production company?
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 13, 2004 That doesn't mean being shown out of order will affect the show. Not all shows need to be shown in a certain order.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 If Tim Minear is involved I'll bet that the show features a lot of character development.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 13, 2004 This show is great...come on Fox don't drop the ball here. Promote the show to even a small degree and give it a better time slot.
Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 Man. I was going into it not expecting much, and I loved it. Great, great show. I was uproariously laughing throughout it.
The Fett 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 Good pilot episode. The show's style kind of reminds me of "Dead Like Me".
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 Well, if the first episode is a sign of things to come I'll be picking up the DVD next year when they release the 7 aired episodes along with the 6-8 eps they decide not to air. William Sadler's 30 seconds were gold. I think we will find out the mother knew about the sister, hence why she seems nicer to Jaye than you would think (trying to "salvage" one of the two?). Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 ... Whoa. That was just great. Hilarious, continually interesting show. Sign me up for the rest of the season, this is awesome.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 I think I got it taped for me *crosses fingers*, so I'll watch it either tonight or tomorrow; but I don't know if I can take any more funny as Kevin Smith totally tore down the house tonight.
Max Danger 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 I loved this episode. I couldn't stop laughing. Just HIGH-larious. Though I have very little faith in Fox keeping it around for any sort of extended period. They don't tend to recognize good shows too often.
Mole 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 I think I got it taped for me *crosses fingers*, so I'll watch it either tonight or tomorrow; but I don't know if I can take any more funny as Kevin Smith totally tore down the house tonight. I have it taped too, so I will see it tomorrow. If Tim Minear is a writer for the show, it must be good; he wouldn't work on a show that sucks. Plus, a main character will die since he is all about that.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 Watched it. Loved it. Didn't understand it.
Mole 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 And I am sure that was the point, since the next episode it will explain it a little more. Oh wait, it is episode 11.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 13, 2004 It doesn't appear that going out of order will hurt it. Besides, we don't even know if there's a specific order. Being the 11th episode taped doesn't necessarily mean it's suppose to air as the 11th episode. There's really nothing to explain without over explaining it as if we're 6 year old. It would be lame if they try to explain it. There's just no need to do it, let people take it at face value and move along.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 Good pilot episode. The show's style kind of reminds me of "Dead Like Me". Yeah, in the sense that the main character is not very likeable and has this "better than you" attitude. But with that being said I loved it. Hilarious show. And points for casting Playmaker's "Guard Dog" as Poor Bitch. I think I'll stick around for this show. Little Girl: "You're not allowed steal." Jaye: "And you're not allowed to talk to stragners. Piss off!"
Astro101 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2004 This show is kinda like a dog you found with a name tag. You love it, but you know Fox is gonna take it away sooner or later.
