Astro7x 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2004 Just out of curiosity since I've never ordered one myself, I was not sure of what the quality is like
Guest ArchoanJB Report post Posted March 14, 2004 Well, I've ordered tons (about 8 or so I believe) PPV webcasts, and they are worth it most of the time. For half the price of the PPV you take a minor quality hit (sometimes worse then minor, I've seen some pitiful quality ones). Most of the time the quality is pretty good though, except I'm afraid WM20 is going to be packed therefore lots of buffering, hopefully they are prepared
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted March 14, 2004 Windows Media Player and the like have often meant bad luck for me, and I have dial-up, so I wouldn't go for it. But that's just me.

Downhome 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2004 I've watched just about every webcast for over a year. I think in that time I've only seen 2-3 on TV. I've only had one problem in all of that time, but it was only because it was one of those times I used the password from a board where hundreds of people were trying to use it, thus one of them screwed everything up by typing the information wrong. Out of the oens that I've ordered myself, around nine or so, I've never had a probelm. The sound is fine, and the visual is as good as can be expected for a webcast of any sort. It's not TV quality, but it's damn fine to me. Also, remember that there is about a ten second delay when you are watching the WC. So if you are posting in a thread, or talking to someone else who is watching the actual PPV on TV, they will see everything before you. I had a few matches spoiled for me because of this. I'd read "OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT JUST HAPPENED, HE WON!!!" only to be confused for a few seconds, and then see it happen. I give the WC's my seal of approval. Astro7x 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2004 Order the actually PPV and show support for Benoit and Eddie, damnit! I couldn't if I wanted to... Comcast decided to move all of the PPV to the digital service. So if I want PPV, I have to pay $10 additional per month for the Digital Cable service, and an additional $5 per month for each digital box. It seems like a waste just for PPV

Styles 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2004 If you have a high speed connection, the webcast is fine. I've been ordering the last few shows that way here at school, and the quality is typical high quality online streaming. Obviously it's not gonna be DVD quality, but the picture is fine, it doesn't skip or freeze and the sound is fine too (although you might get a little of a buzz in the background, your typical online quality.) Overall it's not bad at all. I probably wouldn't try it on a dial up though...
Guest JMA Report post Posted March 14, 2004 I've seen two webcasts (Armageddon and No Way Out). They're great if you have a high-speed connection. I have Charter myself.
MixxMaster 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2004 I get them all the time, as the local cable is a crappy city owned municipal calbe sytem(No PPV, No HD, only 50 channels), and the satellite crap is too expensive for my tastes. The quality is good, I DO get freezing frequently, so I have to go to the next lower speed, with less quality. This only seems to happen on the big matches that people really want to see, really weird. Other than that, it's great, because the link also is good for like the next week or two on demand... and, NO I'm not giving out a link, or anything.

And sooooooo do I ...basically for the same reasons listed by Mr. Downhome. Despite doing a lot of things wrong, this is definitely one thing that the WWE has truly down well. The sound and video are impeccable for a webcast, much less a live one that is being shown to hundreds of thousands of people simultaneously. The delay feature those is a total bitch when chatting with people who mark out and spoil it for ya. Last time, I had to sign off so I could watch the Eddie/Brock match in peace and without spoilage. Sonic Reducer 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2004 When I go to "Test my Media Player" on 300k it always plays only about 10 seconds of it and then pulls up an error page. This better be normal.

It seems like a waste just for PPV When the hell did they do that? The day of the No Way Out PPV Astro, that happened to me too. The only difference was that Comcast made the change a month earlier (the day before the Royal Rumble). As for PPV webcasts, I agree with everything DH said. The sound and quality are nice. The slight delay is really the only thing bad about the webcast.
Astro7x 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2004 The thing that bugs me is that now only did i lose WWE PPVs on TV, but also TNA PPVs in general. And they gave us no warning too. If we completely drop cable (which we plan on) and switch to Satellite, it would be Dish Network, not DirecTV, which means no more TNA PPVs ever
Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted March 14, 2004 Yeah, I was kinda pissed about the TNA PPVs too. Granted, I stopped watching after Styles lost the title, but that's not the point. I was really pissed that Comcast didn't give us any warning. I don't really feel like upgrading to digital cable just for PPVs. I don't think we should be forced to upgrade if we want PPVs. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2004 Order the actually PPV and show support for Benoit and Eddie, damnit! For 50 dollars, the only way I'd order it is if Eddie and Benoit come to my house after the show and play darts. If it was 25-30, more than likely I'd order it in a heartbeat. For 50? Hell no. And isn't ordering the webcast STILL supporting Eddie and Benoit? Plus, do you think Benoit and Eddie would even get the credit for a solid buy-rate?
Dangerous K89 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2004 I've seen a few feeds on WWE.com for a few PPVs and it was more than bearable for even a 56k. While the picture quality, obviously, wasn't that great on the 56k version, it barely ever dropped frames. I would imagine the broadband version is worth the $20 or however much it is. But, you know what rules? I'll be watching it. On DirecTV. Booya. *chairshot to Astro*

Astro7x 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2004 I'll be watching it. On DirecTV. Booya. *chairshot to Astro* Phht... you will pay! I think I am going to watch the webcast tonight, because if there is any PPV I want to see live, it's Wrestlemania. And then tomorrow I am getting hooked up with the live replay feed by a friend anyway... How do I apply for a refund? Please review all of the FAQs. Like, just say it buffered a lot, was mislead about the quality, etc.
Styles 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2004 I wonder how easy it is to get a refund for the webcast. Like, just say it buffered a lot, was mislead about the quality, etc. Very easy. The one time I had a problem was the first time I ordered the webcast for Badd Blood, it just froze in the 4th match about an hour in and never came back on. I sent them an email with a copy of the reciept demanding a refund and they were apologetic and gave it to me, plus I still got to watch the show On Demand for a week which was now free and that worked. Luckily I haven't any problem like that since, but that shows it's easy enough to get a refund.
