treble 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2004 I'm not sure SummerSlam will be at SkyDome this year since it's scheduled for August 15 and the Jays have a game that day. Maybe they'll still have it in Toronto at the ACC instead, but it would be difficult to have it at the 'Dome unless it's during a time when the Jays are on a long road trip so they can have time to set up and take down all the stuff. Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2004 I was half expecting a Standard WM logo with one of those half hung signs attached in a square with a RED "21" like you see at store for "WE WILL I.D YOU"... I was expecting the show to be held at Las Vegas' Thomas & Mack because of the 21 and it's significance in blackjack. *shrugs* I also didn't expect it to be announced right away. Last year it made sense because they were dead-set on MSG. It sounds like most people expected an MLB/NFL arena though.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 15, 2004 Summerslam has been booked in Skydome for a LONG time(way back last year)...Maybe you just got the SS Date wrong.

treble 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2004 At the theatre where I watched WrestleMania they were giving out PPV calendars/posters that say SummerSlam is August 15. Now, obviously that's not set in stone, or anything, but looking at the Jays schedule, the only time it could really be possible to have it at SkyDome would be on the 8th, when the Jays are in the middle of a series in New York. The 15th they're at home to Baltimore, and on the 22nd they play the last game of a series in Baltimore, but have a game at home against the Red Sox on the 23rd, which probably wouldn't give them enough time to take everything down and set the place up for baseball. Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2004 Well, its obvious we'll never get a WM ever again, but as long as they pick us to do a PPV (even one of the mediocre ones), you can bet your ass I'll be happy and will be in attendance.
Karc 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2004 No. The small indoor facility is a major problem, as is the fact that LA is notorious for shitty crowds (Wrestlemania VII being an exception). I live in LA, I might go. LA isn't shitty so much as it is really apathetic. Go to a Laker game, it's silent until around the fourth quarter. We don't care about football enough to toss away millions for a stadium every ten years, and don't expect to have PPVs end in a damn draw (ugh, still can't get Unforgiven '02 out of my head). Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 15, 2004 They really should go to Canada if they want the crowd to be active for the Orton/HHH main event... Maybe they already figured the crowd was gonna be dead anyways, might as well go the GREATEST dead crowd in the world

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2004 I said this last night, its so obvious they're having it in LA to get the Rock to come back for 3 weeks and be on the show for no reason. Plus, I think they might be able to get more celebrities to show up.
Slickster 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2004 Why can't they do the Carrier Dome? That place would hold a good deal...stop going to the fucking Skydome. Syracuse U won't let the WWE hold shows there....they refused to let Raw be held there in '99, Vince sued and the case was thrown out. That's why all Syracuse shows are at the 8-10,000-seat OnCenter. Slickster 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2004 Wasn't WM2000 in LA? Nope, it was in the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, CA in front of 19,121 fans. WMXV- 19,
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2004 Even though I've moved back to Illinois, I'll definitely have to visit my family and friends in California next March to see this show. I've been to WCW TV events, but only house shows as far as the WWF/E goes... No TV tapings, no PPVs, and certainly no WrestleManias. 21's my lucky number, so hopefully I can attend with LJSexay. David Blazenwing 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2004 Id be down for a WrestleMania at Miller Park in Milwaukee. Hell yeah! That's what I'm saying. What about Milwaukee? We've gotten ONE PPV since 2002 (NWO '02) and Cali has gotten like 6. WHASSUPWITDAT?!
Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted March 15, 2004 Why the Staples Center? They're getting Judgment Day this year. How about Washington DC? The Crowd will suck but with Orton/HHH as the likely Main event...GOOD. They might as well just have the show in Hell.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2004 Why the Staples Center? They're getting Judgment Day this year. No idea, but hey MA got the RR and Backlash last year and CA got NWO and JD this year.

treble 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2004 Ottawa's never had a PPV. With Edmonton getting Backlash that means every city in Canada with an NHL quality arena has had at least 1 (even motherfucking HAMILTON), yet Ottawa still gets shut out, getting maybe a few house shows a year and 2 TV tapings since '97. The MCI Center here in Washington doesn't seat many more than the Staples center, but I would gaurantee a could turnout considering we only get a few shows a year and the people would rush for it. Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2004 And yet Philly gets one PPV every...what...3 years or so? TRAVESTY, I tell you. TRAVESTY! Here in NorCal, they hardly ever come up here for anything. Judgment Day 2000 (I think? Whichever one Taker debuted at) was in Sacramento or something and I simply forgot about it (was a mark then who didn't care enough to go to a show), and Summerslam 2001 was in San Jose, which is too far for me to want to go with as bad as the shows were getting around that time.No Way Out came all the way to San Fran, which was kind of neat, and I went to that. So yes, we do get a lot of PPVs, but we get almost no house shows or free TV shows. But other than that, it's been whatever WrestleMania is within traveling distance. And I'm pretty suprised that's going to be 19 and 21.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2004 Staples Center SUCKS as a Wrestlemania venue. Maybe if we're lucky there's going to be another bomb threat and they'll move it to the LA Coliseum, or maybe Dodger Stadium. I could go for another baseball park for Wrestlemania...Dodger, Fenway, Wrigley, Miller...all sound good to me. On Washington getting one: what about Jack Kent Cooke Stadium, or whatever you people call it these days? They could get 80,000 in there for that and with any luck the weather wouldn't be that bad. Guest NitroJMS Report post Posted March 16, 2004 Screw these cities--give Pittsburgh a Wrestlemania, already. Amen. Pittsburgh was supposed to get WM14 but that fell through and it went to Boston instead. We are do for another PPV since it's been about 3 years since Unforgiven 2001, so maybe we'll get Survivor Series or Rumble.

Nope, you are thinking of a different show, JD 2000 with Taker returning was in Louisville, KY, I know because I drove down from Ohio to go to the show. That was the one with the Rock-HHH Iron Man match.

JHawk 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2004 I think most people are complaining about WrestleMania at the Staples Center because it nearly guarantees a bad crowd. LA hosted the main event leg of WrestleMania 2 and all of WrestleMania VII...and didn't sell out either one. I could have lived the Anaheim because they draw better crowds for some reason. I think the people who are complaining about it not being in a dome are complaining because there's less of a chance they'll be able to go see it live. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2004 Where in Pittsburgh? Heinz Field: nah The Igloo: maybe, does the roof still open? That would look cool PNC Park: yes Igloo is officially the "Mellon Arena" now (bah, LAME!). I think the roof still opens, and they only renamed it. PNC Park would be cool, though. Amen. Pittsburgh was supposed to get WM14 but that fell through and it went to Boston instead. We are do for another PPV since it's been about 3 years since Unforgiven 2001, so maybe we'll get Survivor Series or Rumble. It seems the crowds were always hot in Pittsburgh, whether for Raw or SD and they of course were for Unforgiven (yes, even after Kronik vs. Taker/Kane, surprisingly). We got the Smackdown just prior to Mania XIX, though.
