Newsmagazine stories about the success of Medicare

Recommended Posts

I thought it was a joke at first...

When I first saw/heard of this, I couldn't believe it. I don't see how someone can defend this. Like I said, I first saw this on the Daily Show and thought Jon Stewart and co. were joking about this. But they were talking about how the reporters were fake and it was made by the White House Admin. to make the bill sound like a great thing. I am just surprised that noone made a thread about it here. This is blatant propaganda. The best part of the segment on The Daily Show was when he said that they were just following the book on how to successfully keep watch on the public:

My favorite ad is the one with that one guy:

Guy: "So, my Medicare hasn't changed at all. There's just more of it?"

Voice: "That's right!"

I keep expecting to hear it followed with:

Guy: "Man, what we're all those Democrats smoking when they were complaining about it?"

Im not suprised at all...

I saw that it had some Republican saying that 'Clinton did it too', so that excuse started quick. Its like an impulse reaction for these guys...

Since you're whining about how nobody's responding to your precious topic, I'll give you my insta-opinion.

Well golly-gee there, Sarge, politicians using actors and such as "news reporters" in video news releases. Next thing you know you'll tell me John Kerry served... *points microphone out to the crowd so they can finish the saying.*

YPOV, this practice has been going on for some time now -- the fact that you've just heard about it doesn't necessarily make it "breaking news." Twenty years ago I learned that all those letters telling me "I may have already won $1,000,000,000,000 from Publisher's Clearinghouse" may not have been completely truthful. I didn't go on a message board afterward and tell everyone about my newfound discovery. Then again, 20 years ago there weren't any Internet message boards -- you kids today and your fancy-smacny technology.

I also find it funny how the same television news studios that hire actresses to read off a teleprompter get offended when the government does practically the same thing to them.

And the reason I wasn’t going to originally respond to this article is that every time I hear about Bush’s new Medicare changes I have to hold back from throwing up. I hope your self-esteem is better now that I’ve taken the time to respond...

For sure, I was beginning to think that no one cared about me. *Puts away razor blade*

I've had quite a few self-started threads get no-sold. You just step back into the batter's box and take another swing. Why if people stopped posting after their thread gets ignored, Rant would have been long-gone from the TSM community...

Maybe the problem is most of us are young people who don't really give a damn about Medicare cause we are too busy drinking our Surge and playing our Pac Man video games.

It is some sick stuff but the tv stations are just as big to blame. If you get a random tape from the White House and you air it, you shouldn't be one bit shocked what is on it.

News stations ran the crap so they are just as stupid.

Is this thread referring to the medicare commercials where it would appear they are in pharmicutical(sp?) labs and doctor's offices painting a bright picture, but in fact they are all 100% actors and actresses!?!

Yeah pretty much.

I am just wondering the cost of health insurance compared to if there was just a healthcare tax for everyone to pay which would result in healthcare for everyone. If anyone could find the total amount paid in health insurance in this country, we might be able to get a good idea about this suggested idea.

You'll care when your taxes go up...

You would think saying Surge and Pac Man would have made it clear I was mocking the fact people aren't paying attention to this despite it being a big deal.

Saying Surge and Pacman sounds like you're mocking older politicians who are out of touch with the youth. At least that's what I got out of it.

When I said "you" I meant it to mean all these people that do play Pac-Man and drink Surge. I could have done a better job wording this.

You, of course, are an informed voter, since you post at TSM's Current Events...
