Considering it's frikking March which is the opposite of big movie season, next week is fuckin HUGE.

I think it'll go

1. Scooby Doo 2 (People eat up this kind of stuff by the bucket)

2. Jersey Girl

3. Dawn of the Dead

4. The Passion of Christ

5. Ladykillers

10. Never Die Alone (I have seen one commercial for this on MTV2. But it does have DMX, so I think it'll place in the top ten...barely.)

Spotless mind was a limited release right?

Yes, 1353 locactions to be exact.

Did bout what I expected it to do.

DAWN was below my 35 million dollar mark but a good margain and that Jesus fellow just refuses to stay down.

As for next week, I say

1) Scooby Doo 2

2) Passion of the Christ

3) Dawn of the Dead

4) Jersey Girl

5) Eternal Sunshine

6) LadyKillers

Jesus ain't going anywhere it seems.

LMAO @ Dawn beating the Passion out this week, huzzah! ;p

That said, Ladykillers looks like it's going to be hi-fucking-larious!

I can't laugh cause it didn't crush Jesus. I mean, Passion has been out for a couple of weeks while Dawn has been hyped and hyped and hyped for a couple of weeks.

It should have hit between 35-40 million since it was supposed to be the second big Summer blockbuster.

I'm disappointed by that number, not shocked but disappointed.

What's REALLY funny is a crappy movie with Freddie Jr WILL crush DAWN and JESUS next week.

Jesus will have his rear kicked by fart and dick jokes! Now THAT is funny.

*shudder* Freddie Jr. Well, I never saw the first Scooby movie and I won't be seeing this one either. My choices for the next little bit will be Eternal Sunshine, Ladykillers, and Dawn [a few more times, since there's a really cheap theatre nearby with huge screens] - Oh, and I still want to see Starsky and Hutch, I've heard it's pretty funny.

I got Jersey and Eternal on the radar for this week if the damn theater shows Sunshine this week.

Scooby Doo 2 can go to hell, but it's still going to win by a wide margain.

When there is no more room in Hell, Scooby Doo will beat Jesus and Zombies

No, no. A movie with Freddie Jr. will crush Dawn, Jesus, Kevin Smith, AND Tom Hanks. THAT is what's funny and sad at the same time.

No, no. A movie with Shawn/Marlon Waynes will crush the zombies, boston red sux #1 fan, and the talking CGI dog.

Summer Blockbuster ? Dawn Of The Dead ? Summer movie season hasn't even began yet.

Nobody expected it to go over 30 million anyway. 27 million is a very good number for a remake, much less "Horror".

So where do you get disappointed from ?

Next Week:

1. Jersey Girl / Scooby Doo

2. Scooby Doo / Jersey Girl

3. Dawn Of The Dead

4. The Passion Of The Christ

5. The Ladykillers

I just see "Jersey Girl" being yet another big bomb. The promos are terrible, and there still remains somewhat of a Ben Affleck backlash. Kevin Smith movies are never all that popular at the Box Office anyway.

I see Jersey Girl possibly getting as high as the #4 spot, but I don't think it will be much more than that.

Which was his worst

In order:

Clerks made 3 million with an opening of 236,000 but was only in like 90 theaters when it was at it's widests

Mallrats made 2.2 million with an opening of 1.1 but never got above 900 theaters.

Chasing Amy finished with 12 million with an opening weekend of 1.6 million but it never got above 600 theaters.

Dogma made 30.6 million with an 8.7 million opening off about 1300 theaters.

Jay and Silent Bob got 30 million with an 11 million opening and an open of above 2,500 theaters.

That's it so I don't see why people expect Jersey Girl to clean up. I like Kevin but his movies don't sell.

Ben and that little girl look like they work well together... based on the trailers.

As the sole Ben Affleck fan of this board, I will be going to see Jersey Girl. I never did understand why people don't like him. I have no problems with his movies. (With the exception of a few bad apples)

::Preys that Jersey Girl does well next week so he can point fingers and laugh::

Boxofficemojo only predicts Jersey Girl getting approx. 1500 screens. I really can't see it making that much money on the limited amount of screens.

That's IT???

God, talk about begging a movie to fail miserably. First you put it against Scooby Doo 2 and then you limit the release to 1500.

God, that movie is screwed. I just hope now that I can even get to see it before it goes to DVD.

March 26th, 2004 (approximately 1,600 theaters); April 2nd, 2004 (expands to 2,000 theaters); April 9th, 2004 (expands to 2,500 theaters)

That's idiotic. After how bad Gigli bombed, the last thing the studios should do is set it up for a bad opening week. Then you will get a full week of Jersey Girl bomb jokes, sabotaging the wider release weekends.

::Sigh:: After this... i'm done.

How many of you are actually going to see Jersey Girl ?

How many of you saw Gigli ? Obviously nobody.

Gigli came out, it bombed, they joked, it won razzies, DONE. Let it go...

Gigli and Jersey Girl are two different movies, fools. Different actors, different plot, etc...

And don't even act like Jennifer Lopez being in the movie is going to effect it. For the last time... SHE'S NOT IN THE MOVIE ANYWHERE AFTER THE 15 MINUTE MARK, It's Ben/Liv/Little girl not Ben/Jen.

I don't give a shit about Gigli or Jersey Girl personally, neither looked interesting to me.

But don't even try to say that they will not be intertwined. The first movie with Jennifer and Ben bombed. It was joke material for a good couple of weeks at least.

The second Jennifer and Ben movie is set up to fail. I don't care if Jennifer has a small role, I don't care if the movie is better, and I don't care if the movies have any/no relation. The fact is if the second Jennifer and Ben movie has a bad opening week, that can of worms is back open. Right or wrong.

Yeah, they will be associated and already have. Smith has been doing a great deal of damage control and mentioned when he spoke up here a week ago that the plan was for it to grow an audience, rather than start off strong. They're heavily relying on word of mouth for the success of this film, and "success" is used very loosely.

Except for the fact that by then Jesus will have made well over 300 million....

Which will probably be more than Scooby & Dawn make COMBINED.
