Dandy 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 But they would be associated with Heyman, which they clearly didn't want to be on Raw. I understand that they don't have to like him, but why show that if they were going to start it up? Better to have not shown it at all.
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 I like that they showed it. It shows that they may hate Heyman, but maybe he will convince them to hate WWE more. Also, some of those guys will not be convinced and will stay in WWE.

Guest Brian Report post Posted March 23, 2004 They could always use it to bring up new talent, which is really what ECW served to do in the first place: work as a feeder. And they need to get something original going on Saturday nights for it to work.
Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 Had no problem with the draft. However for this draft to mean anything Edge and Benjamin have to receive really big pushes. For some reason I believe that HHH will be back on Raw, because his feud with HBK is still going on, and they gave us HHH/Eddie for no reason tonight thus hinting that HHH won't stay. I can see a Booker T for HHH trade happening.

Guest Quik Report post Posted March 23, 2004 Wow! I, for one, cannot believe the amazing things we saw tonight! Let's go over the draft picks. Raw 1. Shelton Benjamin- a promising young talent, a man who has been in the tag ranks for so very long. Now he goes to Raw, where he will surely recieve a main event push and topple Benoit. 2. Nidia- a former Tough Enough winner! The girl who went blind and made Jamie Noble look like a fuckass goes to Raw, where she will do everything in her power to work stellar matches with Victoria and Molly (Because she's only been a manager for 2 years). 3. Rhyno- Former ECW talent! A guy who spent a decent amount of time honing his skills on Velocity, was a solid mid-card player on SD working programs with... uh... I think he fought Benoit. Or something. 4. Tajiri- A Cruiserweight who will surely chase the WWE title, hopefully becoming the first Asian WWE champion. Soon to be Main Eventing a Raw near you! 5. Edge- Out for a year, returns and executes a scintelating new version of the spear where his opponent's head bounces off the bottom turnbuckle. I look forward to seeing how his Edgy (ha ha!), gothic-yet-surfer-dude character will do on Raw. 6. Paul Heyman- The GM of Smackdown, who quit. SHOCKING~! Smackdown 1. Rene Dupree- He's French! And he gets stunned all the time in throwaway segments with AUstin. Obviously he's been getting the "rub" on Raw, and now he can move on to bigger things with Smackdown. 2. Mark Jindrak- A fantastic young talent with no discernable traits whatsoever! The versatility of this man is incredible, and he will definantly have a huge impact on Smackdown! 3. Triple H- One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just doesn't belong... 4. Rob Van Dam- RVD has come very close, so very many times. He's a viable threat to any title when he's not facing HHH (his only flaw), but I'm sure on Smackdown he'll-- er, wait a minute. 5. Theodore Long- The Greatest Manager of all time. His use of Ebonics in promos riles up the audience, garnering instant heat for whomever he manages. (see: Mark Henry, Rodney Mack, D'Lo Brown) 6. Spike Dudley- A human fucking pinball. ---------------- Well, there we have it. Three curtain jerkers move over to Smackdown, one ineffective manager who gets over but fails to do so for his wrestlers, one mid-carder who will more than likely continue to sit in the midcard for a while since Cena just won the US title (unless he turns heel) and one Main Eventer who has buried everyone on the Raw roster except the new champion (who came over 2 months earlier) and Shawn Michaels. At least one compelling, credible main event wrestler moved, and now SD can have a solid mid-card aquisition if they use him right (but then again, WWE has NEVER used him right). Raw gets no main eventers (unless they shove Edge down our throats), gains a mid-carder who has been given nothing to make himself look like a threat (Rhyno), T&A, a mid-carder who would be better suited for the cruiserweight division, and a former tag-team guy who has to establish himself. This was fucking pointless, there was only one (ONE!) major move out of the whole fucking thing. Mark Jindrak? Spike Dudley? RVD, a shell of his once-over self? To hell with this company. You think they're getting on the right track by putting over Eddy and Benoit, and then they pull this shit and wonder why no one cares. Fuck Vince, he's a shell of his once great self. Seems to be a running theme among a lot of the talent on top, too. This company will be circling the drain soon at this rate.
JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 The draft wasn't great by any means, but I don't think it was AWFUL...worst case we're pretty much where we were a week ago, except with HHH on SD and ECW coming back.

It was sold as a way to shake up the brands. It did nothing of that nature. We saw a bunch of mid-carders and unproven talent move. That doesn't shake anything up. It's just stupid. Yeah, they definitely hyped more than it delivered. We'll see how the trades shake out, and where the angles lead, though. Probably shouldn't give them the benefit of the doubt, but you kinda have to.

JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 Can anyone be traded? What are the rules here? Yep. Which is weird, since I thought brands were ALWAYS allowed to make trades...which is why having a trade deadline is weird. But I know what they mean.

Edge, HHH and RVD are far from those descriptions. Plus Shelton and Dupree have been given the chance for a push. I agree it was odd only having 6 men from each brand move, but the people that did move seem to have been moved correctly. Except Long...who is there to manage now? King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 Seemed a pretty odd-draft, with only 6 picks. Sure as hell over-hyped. Oh well. Benjamin should be being pushed after what happened on the SD lottery, Rhyno and Tajiri'll help out Raw's midcard I guess, EDGE is back which is great...so much for the Edge/HHH feud, and Nidia...well, who cares? HHH on Smackdown is slightly worrying, RVD on Smackdown is ont he other hand promising, Dupree looks in line for a little push himself, Jindrak'll probably team up with someone...O'Haire again maybe, hopefully Teddy drops the racist gimmick and finds a decent wrestler to manage...and Spike finds someone new to bump for. So...now Trips is gone, how long before Flair and Orton argue over who's the leader, and Orton turns on Flair?
Ultra Violence 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 If HHH stays on Smackdown they can push Matt Hardy on RAW~~! //edit Also, The Undertaker and HHH can constantly fued taking in turns who squashes eachother.

Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted March 23, 2004 Fuck - I now know that Shelton Benjamin is on Raw (rather obvious), they've split up Cade and Jindrak, and I saw something to do with The A-Train and (VS?) Booker T when my post appeared. Spoilers! Should I just read the fucking lot?
Styles 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 All I can say is I am SHOCKED that John Cena was not moved to RAW. I was pretty sure they would use this to get him on the live show which would work better for his gimmick and they could get him off network TV and not worry about cencoring him. Maybe a trade of Cena for Orton is worked out...then Orton could join HHH and the IC/US titles would switch shows...

Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2004 I could see London, O'Haire, and some others that are hardly ever on TV jump to ECW. London could be awesome on the ECW brand. RVD-London would be a fun match.

Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted March 23, 2004 I'm also shocked that Cena wasn't drafted - but hey, maybe we could have an awesome Cena/Van Dam feud now. As far the guys that are possibly heading to the possible ECW... 90% of them are excellent workers, so it could be great.
Guest Jimbo Report post Posted March 23, 2004 so why don't you wait until then before bitching? Because the draft was horrible and insulting. Prexactly. They still have an enormous mess, now they just have no people for the fueds, and peopel for HHH to squash. It makes noooooo sense.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted March 23, 2004 How do you know that this whole Draft Lottery wasn't based around Triple H holding down main talent from SmackDown!, i.e. Eddie Guerrero, John Cena... But at least with him gone from Raw, Chris Benoit can have a/respectful World Heavyweight Championship reign/feud/s.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted March 23, 2004 I really don't get the horrible and insulting comments. They moved some talent around while keeping the cores of the shows pretty much solid. Creating whole new rosters would basically screw up any actual ongoing storylines or would require heavily rigged drafting to accomadate those stortylines... such as all the tag teams and champions being drafted to the same shows they are now. This draft basically accomplished a few things... 1) Set up a storyline regarding the leadership of Evolution, who are now without their leader in Triple H but will obviously still a unit since Batista and Flair won the tag belts. 2) Sent two guys to Smackdown to fill out their depleted roster that could be a major help as well as a manager that could help a newer star get over instead of simply managing Jazz. 3) Split up two groups that needed splitting up anyway without having to make them feud with each other for any reason. Benjamin and Haas get to try their hands at singles while Dupree gets to break out from the La Res bandwagon. 4) Establish that Edge is back and will be a major player on RAW Seems reasonable to me and it didn't take a million hours of pulling balls out of a hopper. Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted March 23, 2004 I still don't know what kind of an upper-carder Edge will be. Agreed about Theodore Long - I (and everyone else) see a Booker T heel turn on it's way, and those two now together = marvel. This has fixed up the Tag Team Divisions quite a bit - or at least, the Superstars. Singles pushes for Rene Dupree and Shelton Benjamin - I like it. I like it a lot. As for ECW... Well, if the guys forgotten in the furore that is WWE are getting their chance to shine, be taken seriously, and above all, entertain, then I'm glad. Although I haven't seen it yet, I'll have my full thoughts in the next Raw VS SmackDown!.
