For those who "don't laugh"

I'm one of those people who sometimes look at other people in life and wonder how they can laugh at the stupidest things (although I do feel happy for them to an extent) you can imagine such as the Blockbuster commercials with the rabbit and his buddy. See, there's not too much stuff I find funny when watching TV or movies so if someone does ring home to me as funny it's pretty rare. So a question for the people out there who "don't laugh". What TV shows or movies do you find yourself busting a gut over?

I am sort of like that in the fact that I am RARELY the one to laugh out loud. Even when I find stuff funny, I just for some reason am almost never moved to laugh out loud. Exceptions would be of course be while intoxicated, and when I am shooting the shit with my best friend as we find the oddest things in movies/music/entertainment funny.

I very rarely laugh at stuff that I even find funny, but I've found myself laughing out loud a few times to the Daily Show, Chapelle, or a movie every once in a while (but only in the theaters).

I'm more likely to laugh at something on The Sopnranos than just about any comedies. While I like comedy, something gotta hit me hard to spark any kind of laughter from me.

Comedy is a hard profession, and it takes a lot to make me laugh, imo. I'm the type of person that won't laugh at a person's joke, and then when that person walks away enraged, trips and falls I'll bust a gut...

That's so mean, but funny as hell.

 

The only stand up comedians I usually laugh at are Chris Rock, George Carlin, and Dave Chappelle. Otherwise, eh. Hard to get me to laugh.

Completely agree. I was laughing for a good five minutes when Junior kept repeating "He was never a varsity athlete" at the dinner table, with Tony finally snapping. It was so simple, yet so funny. The Sopranos are one of the few shows that actually make me laugh. If I had to make a list of shows that actually make me LAUGH OUT LOUD:

 

Family Guy, The Sopranos, South Park, The Daily Show, Seinfeld

 

That might be it. The Simpsons get more of a grin or smile rather than an actual laugh.

I tend to like edgy/controversial humor (ex: SP, FG, Chappelle) or British humor (ex: Monty Python, original Whose Line)

 

Mainstream humor tends to really suck IMO. I can sit through an episode of Friends or a Leno monologue and not bat an eye.

My funny bone is sensitive to dry wit, irony, scathing commentary and schadenfreude. Anything the common man finds funny is beneath me.

 

However, I do have a strange appreciation for Peewee's Big Adventure. Make of that what you will.

Profanity usually does it for me, especially when the word "cunt" is used.

 

Examples:

In season 1 of The Sopranos, when Junior's girlfriend has been telling everyone that he gives her cunnilingus, he calls her something along the lines of "stinking blabbermouth cunt" - my mom was there so I had to stop myself from laughing, but DAMN.

 

The Exorcist - "She told me to keep my hands away from her... goddamn cunt."

 

The Boondock Saints - "I can't walk down the street to buy a newspaper without running into nine guys you've FUCKED!"

 

The thing is, I'm usually afraid to watch a comedy, because I know I'll get exhausted forcing myself to laugh. That's why I don't watch comedies that often - I want them to be funny so I laugh when I think I'm expected to, and by the time the movie is over I have a terrible headache.

 

Also, sometime's I'll laugh REALLY hard at a joke, and then forget about it a minute later. Other times, I'll hear or read something witty and won't really laugh that much, but I'll keep repeating it to myself for days, and always smile (another example from the Sopranos - when Christopher was writing his movie script in S1, the camera briefly showed the computer screen, and it read "I must be loyle to my capo" - hilarious!).
