EdwardKnoxII Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Ok here's the question. With the tag divisons on both brands being real shitty I thought I'd ask the question what was the last angle, as far as the tag belts go, that you cared about and made you care about the belts? Or the last time you cared about the belts in general cause of the team holding them, etc. It kind be for either brand. For me it's was during the Booker T, Goldust storyline. I thought it was great. Booker and Goldust finally gel into a great team and become the best of friends and go after the tag belts. They keep getting so close to winning them but, keep falling short which makes Goldie feel like he is the weak link and Booker trying to tell him he's not. Finally they beat Jericho and Xitan for the belts in a 4-way at Armageddon 2002 in a good match. Of course, it should have been just those two teams in the match anyways. Then on the last RAW of '02 they have a match with Vitamin C and before the match they do a mini angle with Jericho telling Goldust that he's still the weak link. So, they have one of hell of a match on RAW with Goldust pinning Jericho to win the match to prove he's not a weak link and finish off the angle. So, the Booker and Goldie have the belts and are very over so what do the WWE? A few weeks later have them job the belts to the boring and VERY unover team of Storm and Regal. Real nice. Then it just goes to shit from there as we all know. But, that was the last time I really ever cared about the RAW tag belts.

Just John Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Smackdown: When Shelton and Charlie were feuding with Eddie and Chavo/Tajiri. Raw: I guess when Booker and Goldust had them.
Zack Malibu Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 The Guerrero/Tajiri vs. WGTT feud was the last time I was really into any tag title feuds.
Aero Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Definitely the WGTT vs. Eddie & Tajiri period. After TWGTT got the belts back, I was loving the matches they were having with Mysterio & Kidman, too. The summer for Smackdown wasn't horrible, but once the belts went on the Bashams, it was hell.
Guest Fook Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 During the Eddie/Tajiri vs TWGTT program. Before that, you'd have to go back to 2000 when Edge and Christian were in their hayday.
AndrewTS Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Not to sound like an echo, but the WGTT/Guerreros feud. When the Bashams took the titles it all went to shit. On the Raw side, I haven't cared about the titles since...before the Hurricane/Kane team was completely flushed. Yeah, the Booker/Goldust stuff was awesome too, but the titles weren't a major part of that. When Hurricane and Kane won them, it was a big surprise and a lot of potential was there for some good storylines and matches...they then decided to do absolutely nothing with Hurricane, and NecropHHHilia happened.
Downhome Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Hardyz/Edge & Christian/Dudleyz Matches have obviously been good since then, like the WGTT matches, etc... but I haven't really cared about the titles actually since the above feud. The last time I was really excited about a title change was the Benoit/Jericho vs. Austin/HHH match. I just looked up everything, and wow, I haven't cared about the tag titles in three years. I haven't once really cared about the RAW/Smackdown exclusive tag titles. They just haven't seemed important at all.
CanadianChick Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 When the Smackdown Titles were first introduced. Prior to that, the E&C/Hardys/Dudleys era.
Papacita Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 I cared about the Smackdown belts before they put the belts on the Bashams. For the original belts...I stopped caring about them sometime in 2000. I liked E&C, but felt they got the belts too many times in a short time span. Once they hit four reigns, it just stopped being interesting to me.
Guest Jimbo Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Hardyz/Edge & Christian/Dudleyz Matches have obviously been good since then, like the WGTT matches, etc... but I haven't really cared about the titles actually since the above feud. The WGTT/Los Guerrero's period definitely had me caring about the tag belts, but not the tag division. I really only wanted to see some good tag matches...I couldn't have given a shit about the rest of the tag teams, and still don't, but seeing 4 capable workers got my attention.
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Last time the team who won seemed to care was Demolition beating Andre and Haku at Wrestlemania VI. LOD winning them from the Nastys at Summerslam '91 was a markout moment though.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 The Guerreros/Angle&Benoit/Edge&Mysterio lovefest wasn't anything to shake a stick at.
Scroby Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Always before the Hardyz and E&C would swapt them back and forth. Around that time I started getting annoyed with them.
CanadianChick Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 The Guerreros/Angle&Benoit/Edge&Mysterio lovefest wasn't anything to shake a stick at. I liked it for the mere fact that they were trying to make the new tag titles seem really important by having main eventers/upper midcarders wanting them so badly.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 The last time that I really cared about the World Tag Team Championship was when Lance Storm and William Regal held it - I was hoping on Raw last night that Regal would mention something about Storm, but no. When I think of a high point with the Tag Team Championship, I think back to Survivor Series '02 - excellent, excellent booking, and as CanadianChick said, it was great to have upper-mid/upper-carders wanting them so badly. The last time that I was really into what was happening with it was probably around WrestleMania XIX, and then Los Guerreros were feuding with Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas - after that, nothing much of note happened, especially since the heatless wonders the Bashams got the belts given to them, and have continued to be heels, but are still heatless wonders.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 On Raw last week, when Benoit "won" them. It's not as if that would've been a fixture anyway.
Guest Jimbo Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 I don't think I'll ever be interested in the tag division again untill they start getting more time in the ring and more effort is put into building them up. It's bad enough some singles "matches" are given like 3 minutes of ring time, but trying to digest a tag match of that time where a guy is in the ring for maybe a minute or two before he is pinned is just laughable.
Guest Trivia247 Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 when there was at least a dozen established tag teams to make the division compeditive

Kahran Ramsus Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Last year when the WGTT had them and were feuding with the Filthy Animals and Los Guerreros.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Last year when the WGTT had them and were feuding with the Filthy Animals and Los Guerreros. Even then, things weren't great. The WWE's Tag Team divisions will never be what they once were.
Guest Ray Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 On Raw last week, when Benoit "won" them. It's not as if that would've been a fixture anyway. So? The question was, "When Was Time You Cared About The Tag Belts?" Benoit, Michaels, and Flair made me care again...if only for a brief time.

Yes, I guess you're right, I cared too - But what I mainly cared about was seeing what they'd do with it and the World Heavyweight Championship match. They wouldn't've held them for long, but Tag Team matches involving them would've been great.
RavishingRickRudo Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 1993 Then they totally got shitted on by M.O.M, Godwins, Bodydonnas, and a bunch of make-shift tag teams. I refer to this era as "The Billy Gunn era"
SuperJerk Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 WWE Tag Team Titles: Vengeance 2003. WWE World Tag Team Titles: Armageddon 2002. (Which was an underrated PPV, IMO.)
