EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 The Gashouse Gang The Whiz Kids (50 Phillies) The Wease Kids (83 Phillies)
Guest OctoberBlood Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Continuing my homer ways.. The Big Red Machine.
nl5xsk1 Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 As much as I hate them as a team, calling the Flyers "Broad St. Bullies" back in the day was pretty cool. And I dug it when they called the Bruins line of Oates, Juneau and Ruzicka "The Bonanza Line" (Adam Oates, Little Joe Juneau, and "Hoss" Ruzicka)
RepoMan Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 The Legion of Doom- Lindros, Brindamor, Le Clair.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 This one is by far the greatest of all time..... THE STEEL CURTAIN Greene/Holmes/Greenwood/White
Mik Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 No, I think the greatest of all time is the Purple People Eaters.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 No, I think the greatest of all time is the Purple People Eaters. Ahhh yes, the same team that the Steelers beat in Super Bowl IX........
Vern Gagne Posted April 13, 2004 Author Report Posted April 13, 2004 ^BOO Anyone college hoops fans remember Peanut Butter & Jelly at South Alabama back in the early 90's?
Guest Redhawk Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 I'd like to nominate "The Jordanaires" for the WORST nickname ever.
Spaceman Spiff Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 The Legion of Doom- Lindros, Brindamor, Le Clair. Renberg, not Brindamour.
Drury37 Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 The 4-Horsemen at Notre Dame, Thunder and Lighting with Ron Dayne and Tiki Barber the 2000 Giants wide receivers being known as the Glue Crew. Thanks.
Guest Redhawk Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 The 4-Horsemen at Notre Dame, Thunder and Lighting with Ron Dayne and Tiki Barber the 2000 Giants wide receivers being known as the Glue Crew. Thanks. So....when is the Thunder part gonna kick in?
Vern Gagne Posted April 14, 2004 Author Report Posted April 14, 2004 Thunder and Lightning was Will Clark and Rafeal Palmeiro at Mississippi St.
Crimson Platypus Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Fab Five psst... that never happened p.s. from a spartan
2GOLD Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Was the Miami Dolphins the "No Name Defense"? Cause I can't remember.
Spaceman Spiff Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Yep, that was their mid-70's defense. They also had the "Killer B's" name for their early-to-mid-80's defense.
nl5xsk1 Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 One vote for the worst nickname: Denver's "Orange Crush" defense. Because nothing is as scary as an articifial colored and flavored soda.
Kaertos Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Just a few... have to agree with the "Big Red Machine". The Little Machine That Could ('99 Reds) The Nasty Boys (Dibble, Charlton, Myers) The Bash Brothers (McGwire & Canseco) Prime Time (Late 80's Lakers)
Vern Gagne Posted April 14, 2004 Author Report Posted April 14, 2004 The 80's Lakers were called Showtime.
KanadianKrusty Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 I've always thought that "Bronx Bombers" sounded pretty cool.
