Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Oh and I want Foley to stick around. He's skinny now and seems to be in better shape than before he retired. What do you think they'd do with him? And while if he was "skinny", it wouldn't be the same him, he's lost just enough weight to work again and carry himself well. Guest sean pyro Report post Posted April 19, 2004 I wonder what'll happen with Foley now. Hopefully, go back to the retirement home. Oh jesus. The man carried the feud in interviews, and worked his ass off telling a story in a hardcore match. I'm happy as I was 5 for 7 for the annoucced matches. I respect Orton. Yeah it's funny he(?) says that when Rico is 5 years older than Foley and still hasn't and never will do anything of value.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Yeah, because Rico's true talent isn't recognised - he's another one. And sean, I thought that you were saying that about Mick Foley for a second there.
Guest JMA Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Foley sure didn't wrestle like a man who had been retired for as long as he was. He seemed a lot faster than before. Of course, I don't think he can be an active wrestler anymore. He's said before that he REALLY feels the pain now.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted April 19, 2004 It was the match of the night, in my opinion. Not as much hype for Cactus Jack as I thought there would be, but that's alright. It told fucking fantastic story, some nice near falls, and, funnily enough, the heel winning is actually the blow-off, which is great for Orton, and my respect level for him has gone way up. Yes Orton should've won. I'm glad Foley put him over because the WWE isn't giving up with this push and hopefully Foley has finally gotten him over. Besides......Mick Foley....IC Champ? Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 My only qualm with the Foley/Orton match was that Cactus came out to Mankind's music and actually put Socko on. Cactus wouldn't bother with a goddamn sock.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Yeah it's funny he(?) says that when Rico is 5 years older than Foley It also funny when somebody retires and eventually breaks their promise. Oh jesus. The man carried the feud in interviews, and worked his ass off telling a story in a hardcore match. And yet Foley still just had to came back to the ring (big fucking surprise) and I piss on him for it. Now that he did the JOB, he can go back home and write another book for all I care. and still hasn't and never will do anything of value. Wrong again, buddy. Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Report post Posted April 19, 2004 That Orton match was pretty slick. Its significance is that Orton showed that he WANTS to be the man. He made the sacrifice that many wouldn't even consider. I respect that. By the next PPV he and Batista should break away from Triple H and Flair. Fued with them. By the next WM, Orton will be in the World Title picture. They need new stars, he is well on his way to be taken very seriously.
Michrome 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 I didn't think any matches were above ***, but it was still the best minor show in a long time for them. Take away the crowd being hot for Foley, and the rare nature of barbed wire in the WWE, and that match really isn't that much more than your average indy gorefest. The story was ok, and the nod to the RR00 match was nice, but there wasn't really much substance at all between repetitive weapon shots.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Scott Keith (on his blog) says ****1/2 & ****3/4 for Orton/Foley and the 3-Way, with ** for Flair/Benjamin, * for Lita/Victoria, 1/2* for Tajiri/Coach, **1/2 for the handicap match, and no ratings for the other two. Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted April 19, 2004 and still hasn't and never will do anything of value. Wrong again, buddy. What exactly has RICO done that's been worthwhile? He showed off a thong he stole from Lita before he moved to Smackdown. Or maybe his Tag title run with Rikishi. Or when Lita nearly snapped his head off with a botched hurricanrana. Or of course, tried french kissing Charlie Haas' BUTT.

Ced 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Orton/Foley: I was praying for the Cactus Jack riff to introduce Foley, but dammit no prayers answered there. I was cringing at the shirtless thumbtack bump Orton took. Orton needed a shot in the arm to get over and thanks to several shots of steel in the arm, back, hands, and possibly crotch, he has some sort of momentum that can be used to catapult himself into stardom. It was a garbage match, but the booking was right. Thumbs up. Hurricane/Rosey vs. La Resistance: The Bathroom Break Match of the Night. Missed most this one to watch the final minutes of the Heat-Hornets game. Steve Smith gets a thumbs down for his inbound pass. Edge vs. Kane: Missed all of this to watch the beginning of the Nuggets-T'Wolves game. The way this was looking in the build up phase, I can safely assume I missed nothing special. Benoit vs. HHH vs. HBK: Gave Canada what they wanted. Now please, let it go. Good match, but I hear it wasn't as good as the WMXX match. Thumbs up.

Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Foley / Orton To quote Downhome: QUOTE Orton just earned my respect. I'll second that. I thought it would be the usual "Mick Foley falls on thumbtacks...again", but it was a swerve! I'll give Randy Orton credit for doing well in this match, but it was Foley, who carried this great hardcore match. He was in great shape for this match,(J.R. said he weighed in at 272, his lowest weight since 1989!)and if he enjoyed this match, who knows? Maybe Mick Foley will be returning to wrestling. Adam 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 So, I didn't see the match, but everyone seems to be doing a hell of a lot of raving about it. The question is, after this Pay Per View hype has blown over: Did this match 'make' Orton? Did it do enough to earn our respect as a Main Event guy? Will the Orton bashing now stop? nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 If Foley had come out to Cactus music, and then neglected to use Socko, two of the guaranteed pops that the WWE expects from him would be missed. And, as much as smarks hate to admit it, the fed is really looking to appease the vocal majority compared to keeping consistent with a character.

clean rob 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Thoughts: Shelton vs. Flair: ** No interference (which I was expecting) + Flair actually building for the figure four + Benjamin showing off his athletecism = good opener. Quite surprised that Shelton won so convincingly. Tajiri vs. Coach: * Way, way better than I was expecting. Tajiri's low dropkick looked sweet as a nut and Coach surprised me buy being kind of watchable. Unfortunately the sight of Cade on my TV makes me dislike this match considerably more than I otherwise would. Jericho vs. Trish & Christian: *** Another very solid match, not quite as good as WMXX but still very enjoyable. Trish was in the ring for just the right amount of time and took her bumps really well. Victoria vs. Lita: *1/4 Again, much better than I thought it would be. I had a sort of 'Uh-oh, here we go...' feeling after the botched bridging-out spot near the beginning, but apart from that and the moonsault nothing was too bad. One of the better women's matches recently. Foley vs. Orton: ***1/2 Very enjoyable hardcore brawl. The pacing and story were both good, and the fact that WWE hasn't done something like this in so long made the match really mean something (the 'holy shit!' chant for the barbed wire board before it was even used was great). Orton's RKO onto the tacks made me cringe, that had some serious impact. Ending seemed a little anti-climactic to me personally, I would have had Orton set Barby alight and use it for the win. Still, Foley put Orton over in a big way here. But will it do any long-term good? La Resistance vs. Hurricane & Rosey: 3/4* Bleh, filler match seemingly to put over Eugene. I have to admit the 'running the ropes' spot made me laugh though. Edge vs. Kane: *1/4 Basic big man/determined face match. Lost my interest a lot. Benoit vs. HHH vs. HBK: ***3/4 Very good match, though as a lot of people have said it lacked the magic of the first. Possibly because it's the same main event for the second month? Still, good effort by all three once again, and the way they got the crowd to turn on HBK was excellent. Overall: Solid PPV. 3 good matches, nothing too offensive (apart from Cade on my TV). Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Shelton vs. Flair - ** - This was a solid opener, as I can say(believe it or not) that I was kinda looking forward to this match. Pretty basic match that saw no interference, but the flying clothesline win was kinda lame. Tajiri vs. Coach: * - For God's sake I can't figure out why they put these dumb ass matches on PPV. The match was acually better than I thought, but I just thought the finish was attrocios. Anytime Cade is on my TV screen I can pretty much guarantee that it will be chock full of ass. Jericho vs. Trish & Christian: *** -I have to say that I was disappointed when I heard that this would be a handicap match. This match was done very well though, as Trish was given a role and played it well. Victoria vs. Lita: DUD - WOW, I really feel bad for Victoria in this one. She carried the match IMO, and Lita is just plain bad. Victoria tried in this match and tried again, but to no avail as Lita just was way OFF where she needed to be. Foley vs. Orton: **** - WHAT A MATCH!!! I don't remember EVER seeing a match like this from the WWE. I know that there have been matches of this sort, but none have ever come off this well. I may even be so bold to say that this is the greatest "Hardcore" style match that the WWE has ever done. If this doesn't get Orton over.....NOTHING will. La Resistance vs. Hurricane & Rosey: DUD - WOW, I totally forgot about this match........and after watching it, I realized why. Edge vs. Kane: *1/2 - Nothing special here at all.....damn Kane is obviously in the jobber of the month club.....I guess he'll squash 25 guys tonight on RAW though..... Benoit vs. HHH vs. HBK: **** - Great job by all the workers involved. Nice Finish, and nothing was really lacking here. But like many others have said it WAS lacking the magic that the first one had and it just wasn't better overall than that one. Great job with the HBK/crowd stuff too.
