MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 Western Canada = Late Spoilers in the meantime: AN UPDATE ON ANGLE April 22, 2004 Love him or hate him, what happened to SmackDown! General Manager Kurt Angle last week at the hands of the Big Show should never have to happen to any human being. As SmackDown! went off the air, we were left with the horrible image of Kurt Angle's motionless body after being thrown from a 25 foot ledge. Click the appropriate link to view this horrific incident: 56k | 100k | 300k As of right now, Kurt Angle's condition does not look good at all. He was rushed to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a Grade 3 concussion, a broken left leg and serious internal injuries. For more information of Kurt Angle's condition be sure to tune in to SmackDown! this Thursday at 8/7 CT on UPN. What will SmackDown! look like this Thursday, considering its General Manager will not be there to maintain order? You would have to think the night will be one filled with disarray. On a less somber note, SmackDown! will feature the debut of Cafe de Rene, a segment hosted by Rene Dupree. His first guest will be Torrie Wilson -- who undoubtedly will have a lot on her mind after last week's situation with the Big Show. Find out what she has to say on SmackDown! All of this and more on SmackDown! at 8/7 PM CT on UPN.
Ultra Violence 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 As previously reported, former SmackDown! General Manager Paul Heyman is indeed backstage for tonight's show. In other news from Smackdown, there are two other significant people at the show. It has been confirmed that both Triple H and Shane McMahon are there. Why is HHH there? do they mean he may actually participate in the show?
Guest Nobody in Particular Report post Posted April 21, 2004 I just got back from the tapings tonight, and well, I already forgot most of the stuff that happened so I'll post what little I remember and hopefully someone will fill in the rest. First, to confirm a long lasting rumour, they handed out papers showing the rest of the year's PPVs and it says right there in black and white: 6/27 - The Great American Bash. Raw's October show isn't named yet. Dark Matches/Velocity: Kidman d. some local guy Mark Jindrak (w/o Luger's old music) d. Orlando Jordan Holly/Billy Gunn d. Bashams Johnny Stamboli d. Spike Dudley Nunzio d. Funaki Not entirely sure on the pairings on the last two matches. Smackdown! Booker T d. RVD from pyro distraction which leads to the return of Paul Heyman. He yaps about RVD basically being ECW and could be the same on SD which brings out the Dudleys. Paul then tells them the sorrid truth of the Dudleys becoming neutered pets since coming to WWE. The Duds prove Paul wrong by giving RVD a beatdown, and thus giving us their heel turn. Charlie Haas/Rico d. Rikishi/Scotty for the tag straps. Match revolved around Rico's zaniness, which included him wanting a stinkface. JBL and Heyman backstage and Paul isnt impressed that JBL got into a scuffle with some lucha libre champ at the airport. Thus a match is booked between JBL and said lucha libre champ He also sets up a match betewwn Eddie and a Dudly Boy. Cafe de Rene time, w/ a set complete with lit street lamp and accordian player. Torrie wants to talk about the Divas magazine, Dupree wants to talk about last week, blah blah blah, Rene splashes Torrie with wine, Torrie slaps Dupree, he was about to get revenge, then Cena makes the save. He drinks some of the wine (to "chug" chants) spits it out, goes "This is Canada, give me some Molson". Drinks the beer with a lot of yapping, which leads into a Cena match against both Chavos and loses due to Dupree-ference. JBL d. Luche Libre Champion. Let's just leave it at that. Torrie Whines to Heyman about her treatment earlier and Paul fixes everything up by setting up a match for next week between Torrie and Dupree. Booker T comes to the ring and yaps about how he'll become the most famous thing on SD. The lights go out and Takers gong goes off in a tease just like what went on w/ Kane except the smoke that was supposed to fill the ring was broken. D-Van vs Eddie. I forget how it finished actually. After the show Eddie tried to get Tazz to give him some water and Tazz got Cole to do it for him. Eddie tossed the water back to the announce table and made Tazz himself do it. He then led the crowd into a "Bradshaw sucks" chant (which they will likely dub into an earlier segment), thanked us for coming and that's it. The show itself left a lot to be desired (though not nearly as bad as this report). No Hs anywhere to be found, and I know I left out a few matches (Noble, Akio and Sakoda were in there somewhere), but this should tide you guys over until some real spoilers are posted. Guest DeputyHawk Report post Posted April 21, 2004 spoilers from meltzer: Smackdown spoilers from Kelowna by Mike Chisholm Dark Match: Johnny the Bull over some local Kelowna Wrestler Not too bad a match actually, with Johnny getting some great power spots, and showing how quick he can be. He won with that move off the top rope that turns into a clothesline. Velocity: Jamie Noble over Spike Dudley This was another great opening match, with spike really playing to the crowd. Some fun moves, with spike hitting what I believe to be the stomp, off the apron. That was cool. Noble took it with a rollup I believe. Nunzio over Funaki Another fun opener, with lots of heat for nunzio. He won by holding the tights, if I recall. Mark Jindrak Over Orlando Jordan This is where the show got good, because we got to see Teddy Long. This dude is amazing. If I had my way, he would have the modern day equivalent to the Heanan family. Call it the players club or something. Anyway, he comes out, starts talkin his jive, and we are all loving it. The mirror is in the ring, and he brings Jindrak out to pose in the mirror. We are all cheering for Teddy. Orlando Jordan comes out, and we are off. Good back and forth match with Jordan getting a lot of offense. Jindrak won with the same ‘jumping rock bottom’ move he has been doing. I hope our chants for Teddy make TV. I want that dude given more time instead of seeing Bradshaw’s mug every week for so long. Hardcore Holly/Rockabilly over The Bashams Another fun match, with Hardcore getting a lot of pop. Lots of back and forth, and a couple switches by the Bashams. I am pretty sure it ended with Billy pinning Damaja, using that crazy spinning move he does. Smackdown Time!!! Booker T Over RVD The show started, with no pyro for some reason. RVD comes out, again no pyro. Booker comes to the ring, and RVD stops him with a baseball slide out of the ring. The bell rings while they are outside. They get into the ring. The bell rings again. Good back and forth action. RVD hits rolling thunder, and a few other of his spots. I really like the chemistry these two have. Suddenly the pyro to start smackdown goes off. Scares the crap outta everyone. Well, everyone except booker, being that he takes the opportunity to roll RVD up for the win. Paul E’s music hits, and lo and behold, look who the new GM is. Well, for a night anyway, because Kurt is in the hospital with a broken leg, so Vince told Paul he was the only one he could trust with the Brand for tonight. He starts to go off on a tirade on how awesome smackdown is, and how he is responsible for it. he then starts to go off on RVD about how he used to be somebody in ECW and now is nothing. Cue the Dudley’s, who came out to stand with Rob. Buh Buh says that anything Paul E says can as far as he is concerned be said to them too. Heyman goes off about how they used to be monsters, but now have been tamed. He taunts them for a while longer, till Buh Buh can take it no more and clocks…….RVD!!!! yup, heel turn for the Dudley’s. They beat the bejesus outta RVD for a while, and they look to Paul for approval. Good segment. Charlie Haas and mystery partner over Scottie and Rikishi for the Belts! Yup, that’s right, new tag champs. They promo on the titantron that Charlie will have a mystery partner tonight…whoever will it be….hmmmmm….well, he comes out to the ring and then suddenly, Ricos music hits! Yup, Rico and Charlie Haas are the new odd couple tag team of the WWE. And let me tell you from where I sit, its gold. Soooo funny! The match was total comedy, with some fun spots. Everything from rico giving haas a good luck pat on the bum to consoling Scottie 2 hottie about his low blow. It was so fun, and rico is pulling this character off. The icing on the cake was the big kisch setting Haas up for the stink face, rico calling for him to stop, so he can switch in. Jackie hands Rico some chap stick, and says go for it. the facial expressions were great on everyone’s part at that. fun match. I believe Charlie ended up getting the pin. The story was that Charlie is attracted to Jackie, and that is why he is interested in the team. Very fun match to watch, and if you are a Rico fan you are going to be happy (Well, that they are using him anyway) Bradshaw Over EL Gran (the Champion of Mexico) Maybe Dave can help us with this one, cause I have no idea who this guy is. (I was hoping, in my heart of hearts for La Parka) Bradshaw cut a promo in the back with Paul E about how apparently Bradshaw met the heavyweight champion of Mexico in an airport and they started yelling at each other. So he booked the match. El Gran was announced at 215 pounds, wore black and gold and a mask. Pretty boring match actually. (not that it should be a surprise) Bradshaw played the heel by pinning and pulling the champ (who had a pretty cool Mexican championship belt actually) up off the mat at 2. then he laid down and made the lifeless body of the champ pin him, only to kick out at two. Fall away slam, clothesline from hell, and its over. Café du Rene I am not sure the actual name of the segment, I think this is it. But after watching him tonight, I have to say this: Rene Dupree is GOLD. The dude is awesome. He was such a great heel tonight. As far as I am concerned, he has all the tools to be great in this business. He got the most heat of the night, bar none. I hope it comes off as well on TV as it did live. Man, I love to hate him. The segment took place in the ring, with a lamppost, and street sign (rue de Rene I think is what was on it) and an Eiffel Tower about 4 feet high. Of course, there was also a café table, with bread and wine. There was also an old dude playing the accordion behind him to start the segment off. Of course, Fifi was in the corner, scared shitless of all that was going on around her. For some reason, they had her sitting on the monitor at first, which just made matters worse, cause whenever anyone would talk, she would freak out. Not a happy camper. As for Rene, he would open his mouth, and we would boo. It was great. He was in a suit, and asked torrie out. He announced her as a playboy cover girl, and most recently a diva magazine cover girl as well. She got and he sat her down all gentleman like. He was being very polite, pouring her wine, and introducing her to Fifi. I wonder how long this will last? I didn’t have to wonder very long tho, because he started asking her about the Big Show, and why in the world she would laugh at him. Torrie said she thought she was out here to talk about the Diva Rag, I mean Mag, and he should stick to that. Rene kept pressing, and got more and more intense with her. Man this guy is good. He got to the point where he was over her, shouting, saying that Fifi wasn’t the only bitch in the ring. Torrie slapped him, and he grabbed her hard. She swung again, and he blocked it. suddenly out of nowhere, John Cena is there. He cleans house, throwing the props (never did see what happened to Fifi) out of the ring. Rene was cut badly near his ear, and was sent back. Cena grabbed the wine, tried it, and spat it out. He wanted a Molson Ex (one of Canada’s most popular beer) someone in the crowd gave him one and we were chanting ‘Chug’. He said he will if we will, so raise a glass. He did a rhyme to kelowna, and everyone was drinkin. He started to promo, and suddenly, the two Chavos interrupted. ChavoChavo Over John Cena Handicap match with The Two Chavos fighting Cena. Lots of fun stuff here, with Cena being very very over. All the spots you would think would be there were, but in the end, with some cheating, Chavo Jr pinned Cena with at Brain Buster. Good match Booker T came out to promo how great he is. We disagreed, so we booed him mercilessly. Booker was talking about how big a star he was, and all that, and suddenly the lights went out. A couple of bongs and thunderclaps later, booker was running away in the audience. This was the only disappointment of the night, as many of us saw taker earlier in the day, and we would not get to see him this night. The place went apeshit for the bongs, so it was disappointing not to at least see him. The Dudley over Eddie Okay, so Paul is calling the Dudley Boyz ‘The Dudley’ tonight. I am not really sure why, but basically, this is a handicap match. Eddie gets beat down. There is a double count out at one point but Paul E (down by ringside) says that this is the main event, and there will be a winner! So the match goes on, with Eddie working hard, and hulking up Eddie style on Devon. He triple suplexes him, and looks to have victory at hand, but then he is tripped, pinned, and buh buh holds his feet down on the outside. Bradshaw shows up and gives Eddie the Big Beat Down including a Clothesline from hell. He gets on the buckle and gloats. Pretty good match, and that’s the show. Biggest Pops Cena Eddie Taker (or the tease) Biggest Heat Rene (this guy is going to be a megastar) Heyman Booker T After the show Eddie gets up, and gets the mic. He starts some kind of verbal game with Tazz about why Tazz wont get him a bottle of water. Tazz says its Coles job. Eddie gets some water, and throws it back to Tazz saying ‘I will give you a chance to catch this’. Tazz comments how Cole is really the Catcher, but he will do his best. He catches the water, and then tells Eddie how much he respects him so he will give him the water, and he gets up and hands it to him. Eddie then tells us again how great we are, and thanks us and wishes us God Bless. Before he leaves he gets us chanting ‘Bradshaw sucks!’ Mike Chisholm [email protected] --Heel turn from the Dudleyz under Paul E's guidance = fucking great. The ONLY thing they could have done to make the Dudz vaguely interesting at this point. I want the new Dangerous Alliance, I want it now and I want RVD as a signed-up member. You know they have to do something with Rob after all these beatdowns since coming to Smackdown. Right? Having RVD would also give Heyman's stable somehwat of a cool factor, an edge. Of course he'd still be cheered, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. --Haas & Rico as Tag Team champions? I'll ... give it a chance before damning it outright. The positives are that Haas & Rico, technically, have the potential to be a bloody good team. BTW, what the hell were they thinking putting Rico & Rikishi over Billy & Chuck for the belts back in 2002. Did that ever go anywhere? I've blanked it. --Cafe du Rene sounds absolute gold, if DuPree can pull this off right it could be the next Piper's Pit. I think we could be seeing two superstars made in one week, following on from Orton's hardcore match at Backlash. --Booker vs. Undertaker fued. Fuck that, this can't go anywhere good. --I'm not sure I like Bradshaw being involved with Heyman & the Dudley (?) in any way shape or form, but whatever. Being an eternal optimist, I can only hope they decide to go with a big multi-man tag for Judgement Day with a collection of faces against Heyman's new faction and just pull the plug on the proposed Eddie-Bradshaw main. Please ... make it so.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 *Still* no Taker for UYI. Maybe I'll tune in for the Rene Dupree stuff, and nothing else, as it sounds like the only entertaining aspect of the show.

I actually wouldn't mind something like this (even though I dislike RVD, and am bored shitless by the DUDs). They would need another member, but it could be fun. Anything is better than Cena vs. Renee, Haas/Rico 'Odd Couple' tag champs or the push of JBL.

haVoc 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2004 If they blame anything on Eddie then they're fuckin' idiots. Doesn't the lack of reaction for Bradshaw speak for itself? Or the ridiculously low ratings the show continues to get since the Bradshaw push? Or.... screw it! I'm not getting Judgement Day, first PPV I'm skipping since 2000. Guest M. Harry Smilac Report post Posted April 21, 2004 2nd week in a row i've finally broke down and read spoilers.I only watched the ending of last weeks show but this one looks to be pretty good. The only element i'm not liking is the JBL crap. You'd think if they couldn't come up with something decent for a guy they wouldn't push him. The tag title match sounds like the best part. I think the unchartered success of WrestleMania XX pretty much exempts Benoit or Guerrero from ever being blamed about anything again, unless WWE *blatantly* ignores the WM stats. Jericho's title run was considered a disaster despite there not being much difference between him and other recent champs and him outdrawing HHH's pathetic title run following it. So WWE thinks what it wants to think. BTW, I seem to recall WWE running this same tag team angle with Rico before, with Rikishi, back when he was with Billy and Chuck.
