SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2006 The Sinister Urge is pretty good (mostly thanks to its short) and TISCWSLABMUZ is probably in my top ten, so it's not that bad in my eyes. The other two episodes really aren't worth watching more than once or twice. "Ooooh...right in the sinister urge!"
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2006 DVD volume 9 was just announced for May 16th: 104- WOMEN OF THE PREHISTORIC PLANET 207- WILD REBELS 613- THE SINISTER URGE (with short: KEEPING CLEAN AND NEAT) 812- THE INCREDIBLY STRANGE CREATURES WHO STOPPED LIVING AND BECAME MIXED-UP ZOMBIES I gotta say that's the most dissappointing volume yet. I doubt I'll bother picking it up. A Season One episode in the collection??? I thought Best Brains didn't like the first season that much.
Guest netslob Report post Posted March 10, 2006 maybe it's Rhino doing the picking and choosing. this is great news to me. TISCWSLABMUZ is one of my favorite epsiodes ever and i've never seen the other 3, so i'm there.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2006 The Crawling Hand has also been released by Rhino, and that's a first season episode. The first season isn't great, but it can still be pretty good in spots.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2006 Worthwhile eps from Season 1: Robot vs. Aztec Mummy The Corpse Vanishes Robot Monster Robot Holocaust Untamed Youth The rest are fairly lackluster
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2006 But you really need to get used to 'em if you haven't seem them before. The gags are are EXTREMELY sparse at times, and the host segments tend to look awkward.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2006 Yeah. It's fun to watch them once or twice just to get a feel for what the show was like in the very beginning, but you could tell they had to work a lot of the kinks out. Tom Servo isn't the pompous blowhard yet because Kevin Murphy isn't playing him, Crow has even more "traces" (HAH!) of a Minnesota accent than usual, Dr. Erhardt is just kinda there compared to TVs Frank, the rainbow-colored set looks weird, and the silhouettes seem to be a dark shade of green. It's all pretty rough around the edges.
muzz 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2006 Glad to hear about Volume 9, and that a season 1 episode is included. Just watched the Creeping Terror again, and it sounds like Murphy and Beaulieu genuinally laugh when Mike says "If you could help me out by crawling in..." as the monster eats a girl. Big McLargeHuge 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2006 Anyone know the reason for the scenes in the middle of Creeping Terror that showed two guys fighting while the "Terror" attacks the dance? I assume there were parts edited out of the MST3k version.
Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2006 DVD volume 9 was just announced for May 16th: 104- WOMEN OF THE PREHISTORIC PLANET 207- WILD REBELS 613- THE SINISTER URGE (with short: KEEPING CLEAN AND NEAT) 812- THE INCREDIBLY STRANGE CREATURES WHO STOPPED LIVING AND BECAME MIXED-UP ZOMBIES I gotta say that's the most dissappointing volume yet. Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2006 and the silhouettes seem to be a dark shade of green. It's all pretty rough around the edges. This is because Comedy Central didn't think they were obvious enough, so it was changed for several episodes. You seem to have seen these as most of your first season viewing. Slayer 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2006 First two episode were gray, then four or five were green, and finally they went with the black that we all know and love. of course, they'd done black on the KTMA episodes as well, albeit smaller scale.
devo 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 What are some of your favorite lines that are funny simply because of their timing? For example, my favorite instance of this is in Soultaker. *Zach and Natalie run away from the Soultaker* "Hey, wait!" "No!" Also, that's followed right up by "Give me your stupid soul!" which cracks me up every time I hear it. Also, from The Deadly Bees... "How did you sleep?" "Like a top. You know-" "I don't care!" ...and, of course, from Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders... "If you should decide to alter any of the spells in my book...for whatever reason..." "YOU'RE WELCOME!" muzz 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 I've heard a lot in the past, but only one comes to mind right now, From Mitchell: "Hey!" "What?" "*BANG* "Oh!" I'm curious to know what people's favourite non-MST lines are. After watching Prince of Space, one of mine is: Phantom of Krankor: "Give everyone four hours off." Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 The dude in charge of the group in Lost Continent: "Okay everyone, let's take a fifteen minute break." I use Banjo's "That square bugs me... HE REALLY BUGS ME!" from Wild Rebels in daily life.
DMann2003 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 I was at FYE this week and I saw in their bargin DVD bin Warrior of the Lost World- not MST version, an actual DVD release of the film. I almost spent the 6.99 for it (I do have the MST episode with it on tape somewhere)
Guest Smues Report post Posted March 14, 2006 Donald Pleasance pronounced Puma Man as "Pyuma Man" is something I like to quote all the time. "The Pyuma Man" "That's Puma Man actually." "The Pyuma Man" "Puma Man" "Pyuma Man!" "PUMA MAN!" "You are just a small, insignificant human being!" "That's who-man being....oh wait."
devo 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 I'm curious to know what people's favourite non-MST lines are. Let's see...Riding With Death... "You're as elusive as Robert Denby!" "No...it can't beeeee....you're deaaaaaaad!" ...Space Mutiny... "You let that space bitch slip through our fingers!" "Meddling fool!" (though I might just like this one because Crow immediately follows it up with "Accursed mountebank!") ...Devilfish... "What do you see?" "Negative!" And basically all the incoherent mumbling from the electrician's assistant.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 "Kneel" "No, it's Tony." Watched Red Zone Cuba the other day. One that sticks out is when they go to Cherokee Jack's and he's looking over the truck "Oh no, you ran over my dog!" The image was perfect
devo 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2006 *thunder sound effects* "Man, it's really coming down out there..." *cut to clear sky* "...wait a minute, it's beautiful!"
DMann2003 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 BUMP Come on guys get the MSTing started again, Anyone know if MST bits have been uploaded to YouTube?
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted June 16, 2006 There are whole episodes and shorts to be found on YouTube, from any period in the show's history. More appear by the week too, it would seem.
devo 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 The Horrors of Spider Island is a thoroughly average episode, but I earnestly believe that the first ten minutes of the movie itself are amongst the funniest in the series' history. It's hard to convey the voice of the Dr. Strangelove lookalike here, but suffice to say that Crow's "ENJOY, GARY." always gets a hearty chuckle out of me. "Those are the guys that run around in turbans, right?" "Listen, honey, when they take those turbans off, they're just like any other man." "Turbanless." ----------------------------------- *flaming plane dives into tailspin* "Oh, I think they'll pull out of it." ------------------------------------ "There's no reason to be concerned. All we know right now is that the plane caught fire and that we lost radio contact." "But there's absoultely nothing to be worried about." ------------------------------------
Guest Smues Report post Posted June 17, 2006 I was excited to see Future War is on YouTube. "When you edit this it'll look like I stabbed him right?" And this clip is great and a good montage of awful movie moments. Edit: HOLY MOTHER OF GOD somebody uploaded Fugitive Alien 1 to youtube (although it appears to be missing part 9 of 10). I haven't seen this episode is over 10 years and have been trying to find a copy. They tried to kill me with a forklift.
LessonInMachismo 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2006 The thing with YouTube is that I can stomach watching a few funny clips, but I can't sit through an entire MST3K episode at the computer. Here's to hoping that they release more and more episodes on DVD.
Angle-plex 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2006 What are some good episodes I can watch on YouTube? I haven't seen much of the early stuff.
Guest Smues Report post Posted June 19, 2006 Apparantly a bunch of online stores are listing Volume 10 as coming out early August. I can't imagine they'd get volume 10 out that quickly after volume 9, but I wouldn't complain. The next question of course is what episodes will be in volume 10. (crosses fingers for Puma Man, Death Stalker and the Warriors from Hell, Soul Taker, and Track of the Moon Beast)
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2006 ever since I finally got my main favorite episodes on DVD (Sky Divers, Manos, Hobgoblins, and Memory Bank) I haven't been as motivated to get more of the sets. If they released Puma Man and the Fugitive Alien movies, though, I'd scoop them up in a second.
