Star Ocean 3 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 Some of you probably heard about this concert in LA. I'll post some thoughts on it later, it was an excellent concert.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2004 You went to the Black Mages Concent?! SPILL YOU LUCKY BASTARD!!! Tell me every freaking detail! I'm so jealous.
Star Ocean 3 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 No, it wasn't a Black Mages concert. The LA Philharmonic played a selection of pieces from FF games. The voice of Tidus was the emcee. Uematsu, the composer, got a huge standing ovation when he went to his seat. I like the selection, since most of the pieces were new arrangements, and not the same old stuff. They even debuted a new piece from the Advent Children DVD. Uematsu, Amano, character designer, and Sakaguchi, the creator gave speeches after the concert. Uematsu kept doing a bit where he'd quiet the crowd down and get them cheering again. And after the speeches the lights went out and the encore, One Winged Angel played. Some people flew out from other continents and spent well over $1000, to see this, of course, I live there so I only spent 40 bucks, but it's worth any of those prices. Just seeing the company and the important people behind the games acknowledge the fans so much was great. The whole show was exceptional.

LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Did they have a chorus singing along with "One Winged Angel"?? That would have been awesome to hear.
Jingus 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Anyone know if the show was recorded for commercial release?

KingPK 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 I wouldn't have spent $1000 to get there, but I would have liked to attend something like that. I enjoy orchestral arrangements. I would assume it should either be out on CD or a music DVD in a few months. Game sountracks are becoming a bigger buisness than what they were 5 years ago, you know. Star Ocean 3 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2004 Did they have a chorus singing along with "One Winged Angel"?? That would have been awesome to hear. Yeah, the Master Chorale chanted along with Liberi Fatali and OWA.

Yeah, the Master Chorale chanted along with Liberi Fatali and OWA. I was assuming you had gone to the Black Mages Concert that was held not that long ago. Tickets sold out almost immediately, so I figured you were a lucky bastard for getting in. Still, to into that concert, that must've been fun. That would've been awesome to hear LF and OWA with an actual chorus singing away.
chirs3 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2004 So what all did they play? Besides OWA and Liberi? I suppose what I'm really asking is, how many songs from the greatest soundtrack of all time (FFVI) were played?
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted May 18, 2004 So what all did they play? Besides OWA and Liberi? I suppose what I'm really asking is, how many songs from the greatest soundtrack of all time (FFVI) were played? I prefer Final Fantasy II ( IV ) music over Final Fantasy VI. The boss music in Final Fantasy II is just too awesome to be denied. Still, FInal Fantasy VI's music is great too.

There has to be at least ONE battle theme! Aw man, that so still is a kick ass lineup. But I would've liked a battle theme.
chirs3 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2004 Only one from FFVI? At least it's the best one... although, if it was anything like that "other" orchestral performance of it, I'm gonna hate it.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2004 Well it keeps the kids off the streets. A guilty gear concert, now thats something I would go see. Hell yeah. Although at least the music in Final Fantasy is something I think Square still manages to do well.

Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2004 Can we get a mod to change this thread to "Video Game Concerts/Music"? As we can continually keep this alive then. But anyways, I recently downloaded the entire Black Mages CD. And freaking wow! These songs just rock! These are just great remixes of the Final Fantasy Battle Themes as they are just great. I'm going to try to find some place where I can order it (since I have no credit card, can't be online sites). Heh. These rocks.
Dace59 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2004 I've downloaded that CD as well Flik, it's really really cool, I do like it.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2004 There's only one song on the CD I don't really care for, and that's Battle Scene II (FFII) and that's only because the placement of its slower movement kinda sucks some life out of the CD. Now if I can only find someplace to buy the CD near me I'd be a happy gamer. I can't believe they actually made Dancing Mad (FFVI) the full 12 minutes though. When I originally saw that as a title (no time), I thought for sure it would be condensed into a 5 minute top song. Nice to see that the Master of The Black Mages (Uematsu) does do things for his fans. Although, I think that easily Black Mages has probably got its own fanbase with this. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2004 "Although, I think that easily Black Mages has probably got its own fanbase with this." I might secretly buy a CD of it if it is available here, and I hate most of Square's 32-bit and onward games.

Just type in "guilty gear XX sound alive" on google and see what websites it gives you. Trust me it's a very good album. The covers of simple life, boom town blues and Holy orders (BJOBD) are top notch. Also there are some good revamped songs like a piano/guitar driven Blue water sky and a very slow Holy orders.
