Who will win? I'm going for HBK/HHH doing the double elimination thing early on in the match and brawling to the back, setting them up for the HIAC. Then the winner will be either Jericho or Kane...

Shawn isn’t booked in the rumble..I have a feeling Benjamin eliminates him early in another “shocker”. It’ll go down to Jericho, X, Kane, Benjamin and Orton. Jericho will have to fight the three heels to win it.

I posted this in the Raw thread..

Tonight on Raw, it was announced that next week's show will feature a singles match between Trish Stratus and Lita, as well as a 20-man battle royal, with the winner getting a title match with World Champion Chris Benoit at the Bad Blood Pay-per-view in June.

Here are the advertised participants for the battle royal:

1. Rhyno

2. Sylvan Grenier

3. Rob Conway

4. Steven Richards

5. Grandmaster Sexay

6. Johnny Nitro

7. Garrison Cade

8. Shelton Benjamin

9. Rosey

10. Hurricane Helms

11. Christian

12. Val Venis

13. Batista

14. Kane

15. Matt Hardy

16. Ric Flair

17. Triple H

18. Randy Orton

19. Edge

20. Chris Jericho

Just so I'm clear, the Benoit/Triple H match was canceled for this?

The match was never booked…Eric said “Next week you get a shot at the title”…he never said in a match with benoit.

I just can't see Kane winning this. It make zero sense to me. Jericho has apparently ended his feud with Christian so it's time to move him on to Benoit. It'd be a better match, and besides Kane has an issue with Matt and Lita.

Looking at that list, I could also see Orton eliminating Triple H, perhaps to foreshadow the eventual break up and title feud.

With Jericho having "settled" his feud with Christian, if he does not win the battle royal, I have no idea what he would be doing on the Bad Blood card.

There is only two people that should even be considered to win this thing. Jericho or Christian. They could push Y2J back up to the mid card after such a win over Christian in a cage where he won convincingly. Otherwise, Christian gets turned into the cheating cocky heel that everyone loves to hate. But honestly I feel Jericho would be a better choice now, give Xian his shot later after being built up for a while.

Fun with guesses:

1) Benjamin eliminates Orton to set up their fued at BB.

2) Orton eliminates atleast one other member of Evolution, but it gets smoothed over.

3) Either Hardy or Christian will eliminate the other to shift the feud from Lita vs. Trish to Matt Hardy vs. Christian.

4) GMS has apparently been released, so that opens a spot for HBK.

5) HBK eliminates Triple H to set up HITC at BB.

6) Kane wins the whole thing to set up Kane vs. Benoit at BB.

Just guesses.

So now with an empty slot available because Brian Christopher got released, heres what I think will happen:

A Mystery masked man will enter and win, after he eliminates HHH first and then goes on to win by eliminating whoever is really supposed to get the title shot at Bad Blood.

Next week, MMM (Short for Mystery Masked Man) is backstage being congratulated by Bischoff although Bischoff is hesitant because he thinks theres something familiar about MMM. MMM doesn't say anything. Later on in the show HHH attacks MMM and they fight in the back. HHH eventually rips off MMMs mask to reveal HBK. HHH is pissed because HBK eliminated him and goes to Bischoff to demand a retirement match with HBK at Bad Blood. Bischoff does him one better by making it HIAC. Bischoff also declares the 2nd place winner the new owner of the title match at Bad Blood, whoever that is.

Ah, the Midnight Rider angle. Gotta love the classics.

I could see that working.

It would be interesting if they started a feud between Chris Jericho and Edge during the battle royal next week (neither man has a match at BB yet). This could easily lead to Jericho vs. Benoit following Badd Blood.

Do you mean Edge and Christian?

Cause I don't know why Edge and Jericho would have a feud.

Speaking of the Edge/Benoit connection, when are they going to defend those tag belts?

No. I mean Edge and Jericho.

All it would take is for Edge to be going for a spear on someone (Triple H?) and wind up hitting Jericho with it. Feuds are pretty easy to start in battle royals.

The reason I think it would be interesting is that you'd have Benoit in the middle between off-again/on-again friend, Chris Jericho, who has already laid out a challenge for the title and his own tag team partner and co-champion. This sucks Benoit into the feud between them and then you could transfer the feud to Jericho vs. Benoit.

They have a nice little "in" there to a Jericho vs. Benoit feud if they were going to take it that way.

Or you can just put Jericho over in the rumble and build up their looong history as the background

I'm with Choken. They could go for a very epic, low-key build with Benoit and Jericho, with training videos like for Brock/Rock at Summerslam '02 with a lot of old clips and montages. I wouldn't go the traditional formual of building babyface matches and make them a wacky tag team. There's enough history already there without having to create more issues.

2004 has been a year of doing things that we never thought would happen. I'd say the chances of it are as good as anything else.

Im hoping Jericho wins, not just cause Im biased and hes my favorite wrestler but because any match that Jericho and Benoit has the possibility to be a match of the year candidate, espically if they get 20-30 minutes for it.

It also seems to make the most sence for Jericho to win to me also. If HBK and Trips are supposed to have the hell in a cell match that takes them out and as far as Kane goes, why abbondon the storyline he has on the go with Matt Hardy & Lita which they have been putting a bit of time in lately and just give him a title shot seemingly for no reason. Plus with Jericho fued with Christian finally over (hopefully) theres nothing else for Jericho to do, but he has been asking for a title shot quite a bit as of late. I say let him have it. Has even even had a chance to regain the title even once since he lost it? It makes no sence to me why someone as good as Jericho could loose the title and have to wait over a year or two for a title shot and other people like Triple H or Brock Lesnar (when he was around) would get there title shot after loosing the title at the next PPV or the weeks leading up to it.

He got a title rematch on RAW two weeks after Wrestlemania X-8 - the same show which housed the original RAW/Smackdown brand draft.

But that was a triple threat match. By HHH/HBK logic, Jericho should have still gotten another title match.

But that was a triple threat match.

He asked for the match, and received it; Stephanie then inserted herself into the match at Trips' request, if I remember correctly.

The ruling after the RAW/Smackdown brand extension was that each brand would need to decide who would be their contender to HHH for that month's PPV (SD in April, RAW in May, SD in June). He was named to the #1 Contender's match opposing Hogan in April, but he lost.

By HHH/HBK logic, Jericho should have still gotten another title match.

By HHH/HBK logic, Jericho should've been given dozens of shots until he won the title back.

What if the Trish/Lita match is to get Hardy and Christian into a program? That would free up Kane to face Beniot in the main event at Bad Blood.

Of course I'd rather see Chris Jericho in the title picture than Kane, if I had to choose. But maybe there's some crossing-over between the two going on, or Kane is just warming it up for Jericho (not to trivialise a shot or reign).

Then there's Matt Hardy. Is that going to just be dropped?

And even if Michaels/Triple H could be the greatest Hell in a Cell of all time, their feud has still been fucked by the way it's been grasped and, well, fucked. But with the right promo/s and promo time, they might be able to pull it off. The same goes for the match.

Also, the latest occurences on Raw will add some excellent psychology to next week's Battle Royale.

Chris Benoit VS Kane could be an excellent 'David VS Goliath' premise. VS Chris Jericho? No explanation needed.

Shawn Michaels VS Triple H - Hell in a Cell at Bad Blood - Well... Let's just say that it won't be like anything we've ever seen before.

It's going to be Kane. Not Christian. Sorry.

They've already put up this weekend's house show cards up at wwe.com, and Benoit is listed facing Kane. Coincidence? I think not!
