KingPK Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 Has anyone seen that Red Sox movie yet? From the reviews I read, it's pretty much an hour and a half reinforcing the belief that all Red Sox fans believe in the Curse and drink a lot (well, the second part is true). I'm probably going to wait until the DVD comes out, or not see it at all. Oh, and I'm now accepting wagers on the number of Anglesault's Yankee bitches this week. The over/under is 10.
Cartman Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 I'm waiting for the DVD as well, i'll buy it even if it is all about the Curse bullshit.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 Fuck the curse. The Sox have pulled miracles out of their ass just as often as they've blown it.
MrRant Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 They are just cursed not to pull out the miracle at the right time.
Guest OctoberBlood Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 http://reds.enquirer.com/2004/05/17/red1a.html Reds manager Dave Miley had a simple explanation for his club getting on a roll. "I don't like to knock guys," he said, "but it was tough to get a streak going with Jimmy (Haynes) in the rotation." I look up to this man.
sfaJack Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 Your obsession with Jimmy Haynes is kind of creepy.
Mik Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 Marlins and Houston tangle again starting tomorrow in Florida. Looking good... Marlins miss Clemens and send Willis, Pavano, and Beckett. Nice. And Aj Burnett throws an extended spring training game today and will make a start in double A next week. He's due back June 2nd against the Mets. From what I've been reading in the Miami Herald he's improved his motion and his stuff is going to be even more electric than before (which lead the league in shutouts).
Guest Anglesault Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 Contreras is coming back to pitch against Texas. That just has "bad idea" written all over it. ::slams head into wall::
alfdogg Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 9 to go, PK. And I have another countdown to update as well... 11 to go...
Guest FrigidSoul Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 After the Rockies scored 7 runs in the final 3 innings against the Phillies I'm awaiting an alkeiper meltdown against Bowa.
Mik Posted May 17, 2004 Report Posted May 17, 2004 I think it's glorious. Last I saw it was 6-0 and I come back to check the score the Phillies lost... Ha! Tough loss Phillies fans.
geniusMoment Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 This is a big week for the reds, especially the weekend series against the Astros. This week will go a long way in telling whether or not the sweep in LA was the sign of a positive turn for the Cincy warriors, or whether the sweep was merely a blip on the radar screen. As the reds continue to march down toward the palace of mediocrity. This week is the hour of the reds rebirth, will you be there to join them? Just what will that birth present, a legacy of winning brought back to life after years of slumber, or one more nail into the cincy coffin?
Bored Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Troy Glaus will have shoulder surgery and is possibly out for the season. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1803589 Hey if it takes the entire Angels team going down to injury for the A's to win a fourth division title in five years, so be it.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 After the Rockies scored 7 runs in the final 3 innings against the Phillies I'm awaiting an alkeiper meltdown against Bowa. Not this time. I didn't see the game. I just read the PBP. Madsen and Cormier were used, and Worrell had only pitched to two batters in the eighth. I don't think there was a better option.

But, wait a second ... no need to activate Austin Kearns while he's hitting .385 (3-5 again today) in Louisville .. no no ... we might lose Jason Romano! We can't do that, now can we. DanO seriously needs to get his head on straight. I really hope to God he isn't like Bowden, who had crushes on his former draft picks. (Romano was a favorite of DanO's when he was with Texas). They BETTER make a move very soon. Very.
Hektik Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Bad news for the Padres. SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Padres left-hander David Wells cut his right wrist and left palm, apparently in an accident at home, and is expected to miss his next two starts. General manager Kevin Towers said the 40-year-old Wells likely will be placed on the disabled list on Tuesday. Wells wasn't on the team flight Monday to Pittsburgh, where the Padres open a 12-game, four-city trip on Tuesday. Wells had been scheduled to start Saturday at Philadelphia. Wells lost to the Chicago Cubs on Sunday, and apparently was hurt that night. "It was not a fight," Towers said. "It happened at his home. It sounds like he cut himself with some glass. How he did that, I don't know." Towers said Wells received stitches in his right wrist and left palm. Both Towers and Wells' agent, Gregg Clifton, said they hadn't been able to reach the pitcher by phone. Team Dr. Jan Fronek declined comment, citing privacy laws. Somehow I don't think he injured his hand in an accident at home. I'm thinking it's probably a much more interesting story.
Guest Anglesault Posted May 18, 2004 Report Posted May 18, 2004 Unit: 6IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0ER, 0 BB, 8K and 77 pitches. They'll still lose it on him.
Guest Brian Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 Called strike three, beautiful pitch. One out to go.
Guest FrigidSoul Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 Congrats Randy. Most dominant left since Sandy Koufax.
Bored Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 Damn didn't realize the game was on TBS. Congratulations to Livermore, CA native (where I lived for a few years and grew up the next town over) Randy Johnson. Wow and how bad is it for the Braves now? 18 strikes out by Ben Sheets on Sunday and now a perfect game.
