I picked up on the Giants, one of his favorite team, and the Sox, who were sporting Frank Thomas (I used to emulate his swing), who were in 1994 big time rivals with the Indians. I never got hooked into Seattle ball other than Griffey, and by 1995 the bandwagon had kicked into full gear and I hated the way fans were.

Chase Utley has been filling in quite admirably for him, however Bowa is sticking to the "don't lose your spot due to injury" argument. Taking a look at the stats: Polanco - 112 AB, 25 H, 1 HR, 1 RBI, .223 BA, .304 OBP, .313 SLG, .000 RISP avg. Utley - 37 AB, 11 H, 3 HR, 13 RBI, .297 BA, .316 OBP, .649 SLG, .286 RISP avg. It clearly looks like Utley has outplayed Polanco (unless Al has some other stats that say otherwise), so it shouldn't be a question of injury costing him his place. I'd stick with Utley, but apparently it looks like Polanco will reclaim his spot. I don't see why everyone thinks its Utley vs. Polanco. Career stats for prospective Phillies infielders...... Utley 251/323/433 Bell 252/314/395 Rollins 261/316/389 Polanco 291/336/398 Bench either Bell or Rollins. Polanco can play their positions well, so move Polanco into one of those slots, and keep Utley at 2B. Bell is having a better season than Polanco, so I see no need to move Bell in order to make room for Polanco. Rollins has been hit or miss (mostly miss, but he's been better lately), so if I wanted to sit anyone, it'd be Rollins. It's not that everyone thinks it's Utley vs. Polanco, but it seems pretty clear that Bowa sees it that way, which is where the problem lies.

The Reds are playing fantastic baseball this season! I am so happy. Haven't been this excited for this team in many years. I can't wait for my trip to Cincy in July (1st game back after the AS game, Choke or GM, you guys going?). Go for the SWEEP tomorrow boys! 10 TO GO!

Bruiser Chong Posted May 23, 2004 Report Posted May 23, 2004 Man, no kidding. This has been one of the most inconsistent series I've seen in a while, with the two teams taking turns blowing each other out. The White Sox' offense can be downright ridiculous at times.

I mean he's only gotten walked 15 times more than Dunn has at this point in the season. Not a huge difference if you ask me. Because it's hindering the Home Run Chase. The only thing Adam Dunn is chasing is Jose Herendez Strikeout record.

As for Octoberblood, I have been to 9 games so far this year, if Cincy is home the day after the all star break I would think I would be there unless something comes up.

The NL Central so far is the toughest division in baseball this season. Almost every team is over .500 and they've been pretty dominate against the rest of the NL.

I've been reading all these articles the past couple days about how Jack McKeon thinks that Lenny Harris is a good luck charm and that whenever he's in games the Marlins win. So, today, down 4-2 in the 9th, Miguel Cabrera hits a homerun to lead off the inning to cut it to 4-3. Conine walks, Redmond sacrifices him to second. Nunez strikes out on a ball in the dirt, bringing up Alex Gonzalez as the last chance. BUT WAIT, for some reason McKeon decides to bring in Lenny Harris, who is honestly as old as my mother, and he hits a harmless pop fly to end the game. I'm sorry, but Lenny Harris should never, ever pinch hit for a position player with the game on the line. He was never a good everyday player to begin with and now he's one of the oldest players in the majors. It's just crazy. Oh well, back behind the Phillies again.

The Astros' TV announcers were making a big deal about how "clutch" he is because of it earlier in the week. I found it humorous, mainly because it's a "record" that means nothing and only further points out that he is only a bench-quality player, and has been his entire career.

I live nearly 6 hours away, so I only get to go a few times a year. They face the Cards in a 3 game series after the AS break. I'll be there for game one. It sucks being young, and poor. Heh. And those $7 buck seats are very good seats too. There isn't a bad seat in the house. I usually buy outfield seats since it's such a homer friendly park.

I'm gonna take my life in my hands and wear my Marlins hat and D-Train jersey. Maybe I can be spared because I'll be with 3 other Phillies fans. Seats are sweet too, on the 3rd base line right down by the field.

the pinjockey Posted May 24, 2004 Report Posted May 24, 2004 Couple tips Mik, Bull's BBQ is overrated as hell. Go to Harry the K's for some real food. It is expensive, but it fills you up so it works out the same as running to a food stand a couple of times.
