The point of a clean Undertaker win last night?

Recommended Posts

Guest Repo Man Reborn

So we go through weeks of Booker T in the graveyard and buying powder and pulling out all the stops to beat the Underbiker and the feud ends with Booker losing clean?

Rather than give Book a nice rub by having even a DQ ending where Booker gets some chairshots in or something.

Something to say, "Hey, here is a potential main event heel who may challenge Eddie for the belt down the line. I mean, look at what he just did to the mighty Undertaker."

Maybe Undertaker will come out next Thursday and shake Booker's hand to give him the rub.

The loss last night, in my eyes, was just to push Booker T harder towards the voodo gimmick. He wasn't into it enough last night to get the job done, he didn't understand all of that. I bet starting on SD we'll see him talking to that woman again which will quickly transform his character. He couldn't get it done last night with his little knowledge of voodo, so now he's going to work harder and harder at learning about it.

That's what I gathered from it.

Booker's big chance was WM XIX, and I don't think he's really recovered from that since.

If they are pushing towards the voodoo gimmick, I'd have Booker beat Eddie, then taker beat Booker, have Heel Angle return and take the belt off of taker, then have Eddie beat Angle at Survivor Series.

I thought the match was gonna be a complete squash, but it ended up being better than I expected. I don't have a clue to what Booker is going after next, but I can totally see Taker against Mordecai. Actually, I would enjoy seeing that feud, the sinner Taker versus the light Mordecai.

From the "Who Does Eddy Fight after Bradshaw?" thread:

Poor Booker - instead of picking up a cheap win over Taker, then playing up "beating & being better than the Deadman" and feeding off the heel heat going into a feud w/ Eddie, he'll get shoved into a lame retread gimmick in the midcard.

Eddie should have been the guy to put an end to Book's "I'm better than SD" angle. What good did jobbing to Taker do? Nothing - it doesn't do anything for Taker, plus Book's credibility gets killed. Book picking up the win would be win/win - Taker doesn't get hurt (his heat is pretty much invincible), and SD gets a ME-level heel w/ crediblity in Booker to hold them over until a few other guys get elevated to take his place.

That's what they should have done. Once SD's ME scene gets stabilized, they can then drop Book down to the midcard to put over some up & coming heels/faces (depending on his affiliation).

Well, keep in mind: had he not quit, Brock would have been in Booker T's role.

But it's not just about popping the crowd. If it was, you would just put the babyfaces over in every match. You would have Rey Mysterio beat the Big Show. It would get a great pop, right? Does it mean it's good business? No.

You have to think about where the result of this match leaves the competitors. On one hand, it pops the crowd like you say. On the other, you pretty much end Booker's purpose as a heel. He been bragging for months about being the best on SD. In his first big macth, he lost. Convincingly. Why should I care about Booker getting a shot at Eddie, or being a main eventer when he can't back up waht he says, or at least put up a good fight.

It's not all about popping crowds, ya know?

And BHK, Angle's not going to be wrestling any time soon.

Really? I was under the impression that he had had/was going to have another neck operation and would/could be back in time for Survivor Series.

Lol survivor series isn't soon.

Yeah I was surprised by the ending to the match last night. I mean they already have Undertaker as a "special occasion" when he wrestles so its not as if he needs to keep heat on a week to week basis like Booker T. Maybe this isnt the end of the fued.

That could be true that they don't want to end the feud between Taker and Booker, so Booker goes back to Mama Shabooboo or whoever she is and bitches about the loss and He either runs into Papa Shango or she transforms him, and he returns to Smackdown and Beats down the Deadman using the Sparkler Wand of DOOM.

What im wondering, what was the purpose of the Arm rising out of the Grave since it wasn't Booker and obviously wasn't Taker... So Hello WWE was that just some sort of pointless bonus. Or perhaps there is just a Non Wrestling Non related Deadguy now zombie walking around town thanks to Booker....

It was Al Wilson. He doesnt like what Torrie has become, and he will stop at NOTHING~ to show her the error of her ways. Or something.

Are you forgetting what she did to Angle's career by pissing off the big show :P

It could be papa shango's grave. Maybe the unmarked grave was his carrer, dead in the ground

Last I checked, Al Wilson didn't wear gloves, or have tatoos on his arms. And how do I envision Booker T as Papa Shango? This is how.

Booker T. Shango:"OOOGA BOOGA, SUCKA!!!!"

I'd say they will bring back Papa Shango and try to rekindle the magic that was between Booker T and Goldust.

It could work. Booker being all serious and trying to get the job done with Shango throwing shit around and acting like a lunatic.

Well, even if he wrestles till 60 there's no goddamn way booker will ever get over as a heel now. Not that there ever really was after the rock beat him in 2001. Unless of course he'd gone over undertaker back then, ho ho.

Just picture Booker saying that and try not to laugh. I dare you.

I imagine the hand out of the grave will be explained on Smackdown. As far as being resurrected to help Booker in his biggest match since jumping and not being there, thereby being completely pointless going into the PPV, that might not be explained.

That has to be the greatest thing I've heard in the WWE folder in months!

Well, I was hoping for Mordecai to come down and give Booker either a win via interference or a DQ loss instead. Obviously, I hoped too much.

I don't get the whole "keep Taker strong" view. When will WWE realize that Taker will ALWAYS be strong? As someone said earlier, his heat is invincible. Taker could lose one match per week from now until SummerSlam, and his heat would still be the same. Damn WWE, you've trained us to cheer the guy for 15 years! At what point will you trust your own marketing?

Keep the Taker strong for WHAT exactly? The Deadman was never a real serious title threat (look it up, the majority of his run from 1992-97 as the Deadman he got very little in the way of a main event push), but more of a freak show that existed in the upper midcard. Hell even when he was fighting people like the Berserker and Giant Gonzalez those guys got heat on him, attacked him, etc.

That said, if this does lead to the return of Papa Shango, I will mark out. I can't wait to see black ooze mysteriously appear on Michael Cole's forehead.
