Graduation, High School or College

Recommended Posts

Anybody graduating this year? (or have already done so?)

If so, congrats.

I graduate next Sunday, and my grad speaker is Bill Clinton, so that should be cool. I'm certainly looking forward to it. Usually it's a long and boring process, especially when family becomes involved, but it's still a nice milestone.

June 23?! Good god, you guys go to school late. Anyway, since I graduated high school last year, I'm entering that middle ground where I'm quite far removed from both high school and college graduation.

My high school commencement was extremely boring, but I solved the problem by making smartass comments during many of the higher-than-thou student speakers, which got my row and the row in front and in back of me chuckling, so that was pretty fun. The feeling once it's over is fun, though. Even though I didn't view graduating high school as some big achievement, there was that sense that something big had just happened.

Congrats to those of you graduating high school, though. Life gets a whole lot better as soon as you toss those caps in the air.

Jesus you guys do get out late. Well my last week of school is next week and it's finals. Really anti-climatic (no, I'm not graduating).

I graduate on June 10 from High School.

Being a Senior owns.

Sucks though, b/c I'm going to ITT and my classes there start on June 14, so I have a really great 4 day summer vacation. I only have to go Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to five though, so that's not too bad either.

Yeah I've realized that school seems to end a lot earlier in the U.S, or everywhere outside of Quebec for that matter. When do you guys start?, I start somewhere around September 1st, I'm guessing it's earlier for you guys since I highly doubt your school year is shorter than ours.

I graduated two weeks ago. The graduation itself was nothing to write home about (we had some loony Republican guy come in quoting the Bible about political stances), but the post-Graduation class trip was badass.

Highschool was fun, but I'm eager to branch out [again].

I graduated college on May 8 with a BA, double major in Philosophy and Political Science (American Politics & Public Affairs concentration). My grad speaker, among several other, boring people, was John Walsh of America's Most Wanted.

I finished university in December. Unfortunately, I have to wait all the way until June to get my actual degree, since I have to wait until the graduation ceremony is over. I refuse to attend.

Same date as Raven_Effect for me, graduating HS(ironically my HS is going down and a new one is gonna be THE one next year, same thing that happened in my middle school). Kinda weird to be the last graduating class of both middle school and HS but neat at the same time.

My graduation is this Friday. I'm graduating from university with a major in Mathematics, and am going to be awarded the Govenor General's Silver Medal (awarded in Canada to the top graduate of each institution). Next year I'll be doing graduate studies at the University of Oregon.

Much like most of high school, I slept through the majority of graduation. I woke up when they started out calling names, and people were shocked to see me with a diploma since I basically politicked and slacked through high school (well and along with the fact that I didn't GO to school either-I had 82 absences my junior year and like 102 my senior year) because I thought the majority of the subject material was irrelevant, that I would do all my actual learning in college, which later on proved correct.

Anyways I won't have another "commencement" till 2006, so I'll party on till then.

Schools around here get back to class in late August and are done June 4 this year, if I'm not mistaken. My college started after Labor Day and got out in late April, with the three week winter break and one week spring break tossed in there. Overall, college schedules are a lot more reasonable than high school. During your senior year, it becomes painfully obvious that they're just watching you every day until you graduate, sliding some busy work your way to pass the time every now and again.

Last day is Monday, May 24th, and that's only two finals (for me, it's Statistics - a class I never needed and just slept through all year - and English - the only class I ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY, 100% NEED TO PASS OR I DON'T GET OUT), and then "rehearsals" until the actual commencement.

Now...why the fuck do we need rehearsals? We get up when our name is called, get our diploma, shake the hand of that dumbfuck we call our Principal even though what we really want to do is punch them in the fucking face, and then walk off the stage only to toss our caps in the air, bury our gowns in deep storage in the attic, and never see our high school diploma again.

Of course, this could just be because I'm not going to college, but fuck high school. It's done nothing but turned me misanthropic. And on May 28th, three days before I turn 18, I'm out.

And on May 29th, I'm getting PISS-ASS FUCKED at my friend Emily's house as a way to not only kickoff my post-school life, but also say goodbye to a bunch of people I probably won't see for another ten years.

My last exam ever is November 4th. I have so much work to do right now it's not funny. On average I'd have two assessments a week for this term.

I graduate at the end of May. Unfortunately I don't know the date because I decided to skip the painful and unnecessary stroke-fest that is the fucking ceremony. Yea, its the University I graduated from...if y;all were wonderin'. Congratulate me.

about 60% of my graduating class was drunk when we got our diplomas. We had a pre-ceremony kegger.

Didn't go to my college ceremony. Fuck that school.

High school was interesting. The highlight was when someone brought a blow-up doll and it made its way around.

Also a light bulb from the ceiling fell down and hit my one friend in the arm. He got pulled off the stage and yelled at for it (!?!?)...

I'm just praying it doesn't rain next Saturday or Sunday. If it rains on Saturday, only graduates are allowed to see Bill Clinton give the convocation speach, so my parents are going to drive all the way up to Ithaca and not get to see him speak.

Also, if it rains on Sunday, my girlfriend can't go to the ceremony because we only have two severe weather indoor tickets.

As of now, there's a 50% chance of rain for next weekend, but it's still too early to tell. Keeping my fingers crossed.
