Guest OctoberBlood Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 First earned run in over a month for Riedling. Walks will kill.
Guest OctoberBlood Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 What a damn play LaRue!!! LARKIN LEAD OFF TRIPLE! 40 YEARS OLD WHAT!?!?!?
sfaJack Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 The Astros might want to worry about Brad Lidge. He's been awful lately. Perhaps his ridiculous rookie workload is catching up with him.

Perhaps his ridiculous rookie workload is catching up with him. Whatever it is, they need to fix it fast. He's a great young pitcher, but has looked awful in back to back games. Might just be a Big Red Bump in the road. Now, what are the odds of Graves getting a 1 - 2 - 3 inning?
Guest OctoberBlood Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Now, what are the odds of Graves getting a 1 - 2 - 3 inning? Zero.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 I honestly can't picture Garciaparra in another uniform. It wouldn't seem right.
Guest Choken One Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 I dunno...Nomar has been with them for what 7 seasons? I couldn't Imagine JETER in a non-yankee uniform...but Nomah? Yeah. Like it matters, aside from Larkin...who else has been loyal to their team for a period of 8+ seasons?(currently i mean)... I can only think of Thomas (chicago), Martinez (seattle) and C. Jones (Atlanta)...
alfdogg Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Bernie Williams? EDIT: Omar Vizquel I know has been there at least that long...Bob Higginson's been with the Tigers for a while...Bonds of course, Larry Walker...Bagwell and Biggio...that's all I got.
treble Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Delgado, too, but he's probably gone after this year.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 John Franco has been with the Mets since 1990.
Guest Choken One Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 I guess it's more then I thought... I do know that Larkin is the ONLY player to be with a team for 15+ seasons in the current era.
Guest Choken One Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Mariano Rivera, too. Forgot about him. How long has he been around (I don't follow Yankee Ball)...I remember him in 1996 but not eariler then that...
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 I guess it's more then I thought... I do know that Larkin is the ONLY player to be with a team for 15+ seasons in the current era. Not quite. Edgar Martinez is in his 18th season as a Seattle Mariner.

EVIL~! alkeiper Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 He was a Yankee in 1995. Pitched 19 games with 10 starts, and had pedestrian statistics. This stuff is easily accessable on http://www.baseball-reference.com.

Not quite. Edgar Martinez is in his 18th season as a Seattle Mariner. That doesn't surprise me. Although it's tainted...weren't like 15 of those seasons all as a D.H? At least Larkin played every season on the field and got a MVP and handful of Gold Gloves and even at the tender age of 40 is the only S.S without an error.

Make sure you stuff the All Star ballot box for Larkin, feller.
Guest Choken One Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 I'm stuffing it for Casey...whose having the better season...
Mik Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Luis Castillo has been with the Marlins for 8 years.
Guest Choken One Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 so he was the only one on BOTH championship teams?
Vern Gagne Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 List of longest tenures on one team. Barry Larkin-19th year Edgar Martinez-18th year Craig Biggio-17th year John Smoltz-17th year (16th counting missed 2000 season) Frank Thomas-15th year Jeff Bagwell-14th year Bernie Williams-14th year Sammy Sosa-13th year Tim Salmon-13th year
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 That doesn't surprise me. Although it's tainted...weren't like 15 of those seasons all as a D.H? Martinez DHed full time beginning in 1995, so its his 10th season as a DH. Still, I don't see what the DH has to do with anything. so he was the only one on BOTH championship teams? Castillo was on the '97 squad but did not play in the '97 playoffs. Jeff Conine played for both championship teams.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 Edgar Martinez has been with his current organization far longer than any other player in baseball today. He signed as an amateur free agent with the Mariners in December of 1982, meaning he's now in his 22nd year in the Mariners system.
MrRant Posted May 25, 2004 Report Posted May 25, 2004 I remember watching him when he was playing A ball for the Bellingham Mariners (my hometown) which moved to become the current Everett AquaSox.
