Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted May 24, 2004 Baseball - Curt Schilling; When he's on he's unhittable. He also is one of the best competitors in the game today. Its just fun watching the man pitch. Football - I don't have a favorite player, but I do have a favorite unit. The New England Patriots Defense. Bill Belichik and Romeo Crennel have made the Pats defense one of the most lethal in years. They all hit hard and take it as a personal insult if you score against them. Watching Rodney Harrison teach Eugene Wilson how to properly level somebody at the Safety position last year was a thing of beauty. Basketball - Lebron James; Believe the Hype. Passing of Magic, Dunking of Jordan and slowly reaching the leadership levels of Bird. Some of the things he's able to do are just unbelievable. Heaven help the rest of the league if the Cavs get another outside shooting threat, because they already gave LeBron that big man in the middle(Carlos Boozer). Guest OctoberBlood Report post Posted May 24, 2004 MLB: Sean Casey (last nights post game interview is every reason why), Ken Griffey Jr (has been since I first saw him play), and Barry Larkin. Of course, I love my whole team - but those have been there for me for many many years. NBA: Tim Duncan. Easy. I love his game and his attitude and how he approaches things. Jorge Gorgeous 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2004 Football: It was Tony Siragusa up until his recent retirement, now there no clear favorite but I love Joey Harrington and Warren Sapp Baseball: All-time, Don Mattingly. Hes the reason I got into baseball when I was a kid. Seeing him sitting there on the Yankee bench again makes me smile. My favorite current player is Jeter. Basketball: My favorite basketball player ever is actually 6 basketball players... Clyde Drexler, Terry Porter, Buck Williams, Jerome Kersey, Kevin Duckworth and Cliff Robinson - the Rip City Trailblazers. In Portland, in the early 90s, they were kind of like the Beatles - everyone had a favorite. My personal favorite was Kevin Duckworth. They used to practice at the Mittleman Jewish Community Center, which is where I went to Pre-School and Kindergarten, and Duckworth gave me a piggyback ride down to class. Hockey: Favorte ever? Mark Messier. Favorite now? SATAN. Mostly because I want his jersey.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted May 24, 2004 I don't really believe in having favorite players. Mattingly was the only exception.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2004 Current NHL - Kipper. He reminded me why I used to love playing in net when I was younger. Yesterdays of the NHL - Craig Simpson. He was exactly how I played when I was a forward. Crash, bash, and score. A great leader and a positive influence no matter what. Although, it also helps when you met the guy after they won the Stanley Cup and get to see that as well. Current NBA - I'm not so much in sports as I used to be, however, I like Tracy McGrady because of all he does to make sure the Magic win games. Yesterdays of the NBA - Michael Jordan. Current NFL - Michael Vick. The guy is an absolute thrill to see running his way down the field and shows that even though he can have a mediocre offense in front of him (proven so last year), that he can make it look good. Yesterdays of the NFL - Warren Moon. Former Esky. Need I say more? Current MLB - Roy Halladay. The guy plays from start to stop. He just kills you with fantastic pitching and can perform in three days time if you need him to. Yesterdays of the MLB - Ken Griffey Jr. He didn't look like he was bulked up, but man he could hit that ball. Since I'm stick for muscle (moreso back then), I was just impressed he could crank it so freaking well. That's more or less it for me.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2004 Current: NFL- wide receiver/returner Antwaan Randle El (Pittsburgh Steelers) a definite playmaker when he wants to be. MLB- pitcher Mark Mulder (Oakland Athletics) One of the game's young lions who is definitely going places. NBA- don't follow it much, but I like Tracy McGrady and Kevin Garnett. Lifetime: NFL- RB Walter Payton (Chicago Bears) No explanation needed. MLB- Pitcher Jim "Catfish" Hunter (Oakland Athletics) underrated pitcher IMO NBA- Michael Jordan

Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted May 25, 2004 Baseball : Jason Schmidt (I am more into the team thing, so I really love the Giants as a whole, so I will pick my favorite Giant) Football: I really don't have a favorite current NFL player, but my favorite player of all time was Joe Montana Basketball : Mark Madsen (he is my boy from my high school). But my favorite NBA star is either Jason Kidd, or Tim Duncan.
the max 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2004 NHL (current): Ilya Kovalchuk. Simply one of the most fun players to watch, especially when he scores a goal. Every goal is a 5OT winner for Ilya Kovalchuk. NHL (all-time): (forward) Wayne Gretzky. Greatness personified. (defense) Raymond Bourque. Great player, great man. (goaltender) Patrick Roy. The fact that I was able to see arguably the greatest goaltender ever on a semi-regular basis is awesome. MLB (current): Manny Ramirez. Sure, he's in his own world for most of the time, but when he's on, he's as close to unstoppable as you can get. MLB (all-time): (offense) Ken Griffey Jnr. He was my favorite player when I was younger. (pitcher) late-90's Pedro Martinez. That's when you knew that everytime he took the mound, the Red Sox would win. Period. I'll never forget his 'Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughn' impersonation in the postseason against the Indians, coming in and completely shutting them down.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted May 25, 2004 My all time favorites.. NFL: L.T. Baseball: Nolan Ryan Basketball: Bill Lambier Boxing: Tyson My favorite fighter right now is probably Manny Pacquiao, or maybe Ricardo Mayorga. Both guys are exciting and dangerous, but Pacquiao is absolutely fearless and crazy, while Mayorga has a palpable contempt for his opponents, plus he smokes. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2004 Hmmm, big 3, eh? My big three is NHL, NBA, and college hockey so I'll just answer those. BTW, in my world, All-time only includes people that I actually got to see. Active NHL: It was Bertuzzi until he went to town on Moore, but that bumped him off the top spot. I'd say either Roenick or Thornton, with Jumbo Joe getting the tiebreaker because he wears the Spoked B. All-time NHL: Bourque or Gretzky, with Bourque winning via the same tiebreaker as Thornton. Active NFL: Brian Urlacher All-time NFL: John Hannah Active NCAA hockey: Jimmy Howard All-time NCAA hockey: Paul Kariya. (and yes, I recognize that the big three that was meant was NFL, MLB, and NBA, but I have such a distaste for the NBA & MLB that I'd be unable to pick a legitimate 'favorite' active player.) the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2004 MLB: Jim Thome NHL: Sami Kapanen - These playoffs showed he is one tough SOB. Shot him up about 20 notches in my book. Guest BobbyWhioux Report post Posted May 26, 2004 Lesse... MLB Current pitcher: Tim Hudson (although after last year's playoffs I have to give Josh Beckett of Florida an honorable mention ) Current fielder/hitter: His Barryness. Lifetime pitcher: Dennis Eckersley, no question about it. Lifetime fielder/hitter: probably Will Clark. He was just the man. Attitude, clutch hitting, I basically tried to emulate him as much as possible during my little league days. NFL: Current, Offense: Michael Vick is just SCARY. Plus, he led the Falcons to an ass-whooping of the Packers in Green Bay in the Playoffs. Oh yeah, you gotta give it up for that. Current, Defense: Ray Lewis. He's mean, he's nasty, and he hits like he wants to hurt people. Lifetime, Offense: No Contest. St. Joseph, His Joeliness, #16. Best quarterback of all time, end of discussion. Lifetime, Defense: Ronnie Lott, for hitting people so hard you wondered how either of them ever walked again. Honorable mention to Mike Singletary. NBA: Never been a basketball guy NHL: Current, Goalie: Martin Brodeur, I guess, since he has a tendency to shoot towards the other goal. Current, Skater: Patrick Marleau, I guess, for being captain of my team of choice, and for being almost exactly the same age as me (he's two weeks older than I am) lifetime, Goalie: Arturs Irbe, for being the first miracle man in net to carry the Sharks into the postseason. lifetime, Skater: Hmm. Ray Borque.
