Guest TigerDriver91 Report post Posted May 26, 2004 This week's edition of Raw did a 3.5 cable rating, with a 5.4 share, according to Nielsen Media Research. That is down from the 4.0 that the show did last week. The show did hours of 3.3 and 3.7. In other WWE ratings news, Velocity did the lowest number that I can ever remember scoring just a 0.4 cable rating, with a 0.8 share. The WWE Experience appears to be dead on the vine as well, doing a 0.5 cable rating, with a 1.4 share. Sunday Night Heat did a 0.8 cable rating, with a 1.5 share. All in all, the numbers this week are downright bad news for World Wrestling Entertainment. When you consider the 3.4 that Raw did two weeks ago, this could be the start of a disturbing trend for WWE. PW Insider.Com
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted May 26, 2004 Not surprising since there was no match built to this week, and the ME had Benoit coupled with Eugene. It just wasn't as good a show, and I think it's also safe to say that the WWE's handling of Benoit/Kane thusfar has not been good.
Enigma 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2004 How is this bad news? Isn't this on par with the usual numbers (RAW at least)?
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted May 26, 2004 It's a combination of things: 1. Kane's lack of credibility as a ME is a big cause. This guy was made to look like a bitch on the last 2 PPVs but he's getting a World Title shot? Add to it the fact that he was stuck in a crappy mid-card feud. 2. No matches built up and it looked like yet again Benoit wasn't going to have an important role on the show. 3. Last week's show was below-par for what Raw has been for the last few months. 4. HHH/HBK overkill.
tbondrage99 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2004 4. HHH/HBK overkill. That has to be the understatement of the year. My main problem with Raw this week, aside from the HBK/HHH Overkill was Benoit doing nothing of real importance, if hes the world champion AND the tag champion at the same time wouldnt it make sence for him to be defending one of these titles every week? Also the lack of advancement in the Kane/Benoit fued didnt help either. Shouldnt Kane of at least run out to attack Benoit after his match?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted May 26, 2004 I feel for the writers here...each week the show goes up and then down... Yet you can't really pigeonhole WHAT is getting the big ratings draw... Except Unhyped Benoit=no ratings. Benoit not on the HUGE SUPA CARD=Low Ratings Announced to be in tag defense at start of show=Ratings go up Not mentioned until a backstage skit with other jobbers and teaming with eugene unannounced=down. Logic dicates all they have to do is ANNOUNCE Benoit's status for the night and ratings rise.

Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2004 Well...that's a good rating to me, you can't forget not to long ago for RAW the WWE was getting 2.9-3.1 But yea, IMO the major thing was no announced matches. Recently WWE's been announcing a few thigns to happen the week before, this week we were left high and dry, but still it turned out to be a decent show. But yea..I know a lot of people turned watching the repeated HHH/HBK stuff, then turned back later to see if it was done..

Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2004 The biggest problem with Kane is that A) He's a loser B) He's INVOLVED IN ANOTHER GODDAMNED STORYLINE BESIDES THE M.E. C) He didn't even earn the title shot. He laid there like a slug for five minutes and won by interference. Hence, we get Benoit v. Kane.
Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted May 26, 2004 Well...that's a good rating to me, you can't forget not to long ago for RAW the WWE was getting 2.9-3.1 When? The ratings floor for WWE post-Attitude was a 3.1 from just before Survivor Series 2002.
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2004 It was pretty sad Lita couldn't even act like she loved Matt Hardy, her real life boyfriend. See also Torrie Wilson. Strange to see such difference in ratings. So, going by the trend, next week should be around 4.0-4.1, right?

iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2004 Getting good ratings isn't complicated at all. All you need is an important main event storyline or match that's (usually) related to the title chase. Battle Royal for the #1 contendership? That will keep people tuned in. Title match? That will do it too. Even if Kane had hospitalized Matt, abducted Lita, and started to molest her while Benoit was trying to hunt them down, it probably would have kept people tuned in. However, Bischoff wants to keep HHH and HBK from fighting? That's not exactly going to keep casual wrestling fans glued to their seats.

Shut up you troll. Every single thread that you 'contribute' in, all you do is bash Benoit. I'm not saying that everyone should like him, or whatever. If you don't like him, fine. But all you do is bash him (even when there is no reason for it) to try and piss off everyone else. Like me. Seriously, can the mods do something about this guy? Go back and read all his posts, all he does is bash Benoit. I'm sure you will come back with how you are merely expressing your opinion or some crap like that. Whatever. Guest Loss Report post Posted May 26, 2004 I've read his posts and I'm keeping an eye out. However, and this is the key, regardless of who the champ is, HHH is just as much the top guy as he ever was. They're also relying on him and HBK to sell the next PPV. If your philosophy is that problems start at the top, then HHH is where problems start.

Add to it the fact that he was stuck in a crappy mid-card feud. I really don't know if you can say that since Kane was pretty much only in the first hour of Raw and not mentioned for the rest of the night. Plus only being in the main event spotlight for only a week. I'd give it two more weeks then harp on Kane all you want.

nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2004 I like how people say things that happened during the show contributed to the less-than-stellar ratings ... like the HBK-HHH thing. What, did people just presume that there'd be too much crap between those two and choose not to watch the entire show as a result? The ratings went UP as the show went on, so it's not like their jerking each other off turned viewers away. Same with the Lita/Kane thing. Saying that not-announcing matches/angles for the night caused lower ratings = makes sense. Saying that the show had too much HHH-HBK instead of Benoit = makes no sense. Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted May 26, 2004 Actually I was basing my Kane point on the fact that he won the Battle Royal last week and people don't buy him as a ME guy so they didn't tune in this week.
