Prime Time Andrew Doyle 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2004 In 2 weeks, I have my Year 12 formal. The girl who I asked to go with me, has something on and can't go, now leaving me without a date, or anybody who I can go with, seeing as though most tof the girls I know are already going. Now that leaves me with three situations. I could a) Go by myself, which while bad, is also about $120 cheaper b) I Could not go at all or c) Ask out this girl who catches my train, but who Ive nevr actually spoken to before, yet we are constantly checking each other out, but neither of us has actually had the balls to speak to the other one Now, Im leaning towards options a&c. I went with the girl who I was going to go with this year to my Year 11 social, but seeing as though she didnt really know anybody, it was kind of awkward as I split my time between being with her, and being with the boys. Option C is probably unlikely, because the girl hasn't caught my train for the past week, and that seeing as though I haven't even spoke to her, I don't even know if she is close to my age, because one day she looks like she could be in Year 12 and the next she looks like she is in Year 10. Now, originally, I was not even thinking about going to the Formal, and just going to the After party, but our new Vice Principal is ghey and is threatening anybody who orgainises it or attends the AP will be suspended. Now this is suppposedly (sp?) because the Police called our Principle and told them that anybody involved in the AP would be charged. So now with the prospect of no AP, Im most likely got to choose from one of the three options, only problem is, which one do I choose?
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2004 I'm assuming this is the U.S. version of a prom. (You're from Down Under, right?) So there are no chicks at all that you could take? No friends that are of the opposite sex that aren't going to this thing? At my school you had to bring a date -- no soloists...
Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2004 You SOLOIST~! Oh. And how can they ban a afterparty?
Guest XtAtiC Report post Posted May 28, 2004 I would lean more to B and C. But I would pick C. If a girl is checkin you out and you think she's bangin, then go fuc... err I mean, go ask her to go with you.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Report post Posted May 28, 2004 Andrew, I'd go with option c). But... d) a) You and your pack of loser friends band together to pull a prank that fails and catches the eye of a hard-assed veteran teacher. d) b) You and your pack of loser friends band together to pull a prank that works a like a charm. The choice is yours.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2004 Better loser friends than none though, eh Master -iB-?
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2004 You SOLOIST~! Oh. And how can they ban a afterparty? Ummm, was I running the show at my high school? No. So don't accuse me of things that I am not. Some of my best friends are solos...
Guest croweater Report post Posted May 28, 2004 Soloist? hmmmm anyway, Formal's are different from Proms, because from what I've heard about proms (ok, seen in crappy teen romantic comedys) is that it's pretty much a glorified dance with presentations. ...a formal is more formal. It's generally a sit down dinner/glorified dance and showing up alone is generally acceptable. At my formal there were 10 to a table and hence there's really no segregation between the singles and the couples and generally ony people going out at the time were a couple. It may be different where you come from PTAD, but you've got to go because It's your formal for christ's sake! Oh, and afterparty ban or not you HAVE to get EXTREMELY PISSED afterwards (or during) otherwise the whole experience is ruined.

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted May 28, 2004 If the worst thing that can result out of going to the Afterparty is a suspension, tell the school to go fuck themselves since 1. Being excused from a few days of school is hardly a punishment as I ever saw it, and 2. How the hell could they even tell if you went? I don't know where I grew up, the second the cops showed up, we all fuckin split. Oh and my advice is c and if that miserably fails, just don't go and go pick up some chick at the afterparty. Don't forget alcohol!
Prime Time Andrew Doyle 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2004 The thing with the AP is that some of the people who were going to orgainise it are Prefects and Officers, so if they get caught they are gonna get fucked for it, and because nobody had the balls to stand up to them when they banned our Year 11 AP, they are reluctant to take the VP on. A Year 12 from last year owns a Pub, so if nobody orgainises it, we might just got there. If this years formal is like the Year 11 social, than what it is is you get there, you sit on a table, eat a meal, and than you just get up and dance or wander basically. Fuzzy Dunlop 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2004 When I was like 10, my Aunt asked me if I'd take my cousin to some dance just so she wouldn't have to go alone, and I was like, "yeah, GOODBYE!" In retrospect it might have been fun.
Jingus 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2004 I still don't understand the ban on after-parties. Now, my knowledge of the Australian legal system is a bit shaky, but I'd assume it's the same basic rules as the English and American versions. How in the world can the SCHOOL officials bring down IN-SCHOOL punishments for actions which did NOT take place at the SCHOOL?

How in the world can the SCHOOL officials bring down IN-SCHOOL punishments for actions which did NOT take place at the SCHOOL? Actually, at my high school, everyone who does athletics and activities has to sign a legally binding document that says if you're so much as AT any event in which alcohol is served, (barring family events) you're suspended from all extracurriculars for the year, regardless of whether you even had a drink or not. I'm assuming that all schools have this, but I'm not sure. You can debate the legality and fairness of this issue if you please.
Prime Time Andrew Doyle 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2004 How in the world can the SCHOOL officials bring down IN-SCHOOL punishments for actions which did NOT take place at the SCHOOL? I think the schools sgtance is that it will hurt the schools reputation if the party gets busted by the cops.
Guest croweater Report post Posted May 30, 2004 That is the schools stance, but I don't think they can do a thing about it (unless a document is signed or something). There was a massive party here a couple of years ago which made front page news because everything the house got trashed. A lot of schools came out of that looking pretty bad. (especially one, as a main part of the story was that their microwave was ruined because a St Mary's girl had sex on it........... it was heaps funny because on the FRONT PAGE of our local newspaper there was a picture of a microwave with a MASSIVE ass indent on the top)

The hell kind of cheap-ass microwave leaves behind an ass indent? My old microwave, that thing was built like a tank, I could smash someone's ehad into it and it wouldn't leave a mark. 2. Who has sex on a MICROWAVE OVEN? What if they were warming up some mini-tacos at the time? What if she got pregnant? Nine months later, there's an even better front page photo than an oven with a groove.
