Sting: What brand should he go to?

Recommended Posts

Guest gearhead

There have been a lot of talks about Sting going to the WWE and wrestling there for the first time in his career. And the way things are moving ahead, it's pretty much sure that he will finally come to WWE.

Now, with all that said; which brand should Sting head to? Should he go to Raw or should he go to SD?

I for one say that he should go to Raw. I can see the jaws dropping here. I know SD is in need of star power to lift it's game plan and ratings. But, the question is; Can Sting really do that? I don't think so. It's not star power that makes a show intresting. It's the storylines, the wrestling matches, and the show overall. I don't think one man can change the complexion of SD. With the debut of Sting, sure, many WCW fans will tune in to SD. But, if SD remains boring then they will slowly fade away.

Plus, Sting really doesn't have much to do on SD. He will most likely return with his "Crow" gimmick which does suit SD but not for long. A Taker/Sting feud sounds very intresting but besides that I don't see anything that Sting can actually do in SD. Yes, an Eddie/Sting feud also sounds good but once it's over there is nothing much left for Sting to do. Whereas on Raw, we have the likes of Triple H, Chris Benoit, Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, and Kane who can difinitely have a big-time feuds with Sting. Sting can enter the World Title scene. We'll get to see matches like Triple H vs. Sting, Chris Benoit vs. Sting, Shawn Michaels vs. Sting, Chris Jericho vs. Sting, and Kane vs. Sting which are more intresting and marketable than matches that we will see in SD. All in all, I think WWE, Raw, Sting, and we the fans will benifit a lot more if Sting goes to Raw.

And as we all know WWE, they will most likely send Sting to Raw since Raw is their flagship broadcast and is more accessible to many viewers around the world. I think Sting will go to Raw and I personally want him to go to Raw.

What about you?

Sting NEEDS to go to Smackdown!.

RAW is fine right now with the roster they have. Sting would just come in and muddle the storyline they have going on.

On SD! Sting could come in and feud with some of the heels on the roster (Booker, Dupree, whomever). And if he gets over and doesn't fall flat on his face- he could get a title match v. Eddy.

Sting going to RAW would be completely pointless and just make Smackdown! look even more weak and second rate. Which it doesn't need.

Sting to SD! would be fine. Espically since Taker wants to eventually go back to Heel and Sting is indeed a ratings booster. When he first showed up on NWA:TNA the buyrates went up just a little bit, if I remember correctly. STING TO SMACKDOWN!

Put him on Smackdown, and use him to get over some of the newer heels (Dupree, JBL if they're intent on pushing him). I'm not saying they should make Sting a jobber, but at this point his best interest should be in putting on a good performance and helping others get ahead. A feud with Taker would work, but I can't see them turning Taker heel for it. They'd probably make Sting "evil" somehow.

Or, better yet, no Sting at all! Just don't sign him then you won't need to put him on either brand.

There's already a thread to discuss the potential signing of Sting, here. Leave this thread for people to discuss which "brand" he should join.

Sting teaming up with Cena maybe, that's worse than a team of Luger and Spike Dudley.

on Raw Sting could feud with Kane, team up with Edge and have a match or two with Flair for old times sake.

I don't really care what will happen to SD! and how weak it will look. Raw just has better workers right now and Sting can't look like shit during his one and only stay with the WWE.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you the one singing the praises of SmackDown only a couple of days ago, saying it was by far the better-written show? I mean, I know I make a persuasive argument, but damn...

As for this - i SEVERELY doubt that there are any old-time WCW fans out there who will be persuaded to tune into WWE that don't already watch, or who have watched and then given up on it. For a lot of people if you want to watch professional wrestling on TV these days, you watch WWE. The addition of one 40 year-old is unlikely to break into a previously-untapped market.

Plus, Sting really doesn't have much to do on SD. He will most likely return with his "Crow" gimmick which does suit SD but not for long. Yes, an Eddie/Sting feud also sounds good but once it's over there is nothing much left for Sting to do.

So the reasoning is; 'this show sucks, let's not waste anyone on it' as opposed to 'this shows sucks, let's start to try and make it better'? I don't care what capacity they have him in, if Sting is gonna go anywhere it HAS to be SmackDown. Booker, Eddie, Taker (please God no), RVD, Cena, whoever - maybe he could have more enjoyable matches on Raw, but someone needs to do SOMETHING about SD!, and fast. Besides, **** matches aren't what you're going to get out of Sting - he's about the gimmick.

I'd like to see a Sting vs. Kurt Angle Feud so, Smackdown! it is for me. + you still have Big Show, Taker, Eddie, RVD, JBL, Booker T, Cena, Dupree, Mordecai, and Vince McMahon (you know it's bound to happen) left to feud with afterwords. RAW doesn't need anything, it's fine the way it is. Smackdown! needs anything at this point.

I'd like to see Sting in WWE for some reason.

If he were to be a face...a unique team of Undertaker and Sting would be kinda cool.

But that's just my opinion.

Maybe for like the first few weeks he'll show up wherever he wants and attack people for no reason. After that....maybe a special attraction to either brand. That way, he doesn't work full time, and they can milk any and all possible feuds he could have that look interesting.

Knowing the WWE's curious need to make all non-WWE stars look bad compared to OVW graduates, Sting should most definitely move to Smackdown!

There are just too many WWE creations on RAW to job Sting to. At least over on SD!, Sting giving the "rub" to the likes of Dupree might actually be a good thing.

Sting should REALLY go to Smackdown without a shadow of a doubt, but you know he'll end up on Raw as just anotner guy from WCW that Triple H beats.

Sting for the sake of starpower and to be a better main event for the show.

Korgath, WWE wouldn't have to do any work to make Sting look worse than most OVW grads. He IS worse than most OVW grads without their help.

Sting would probably improve whatever brand he was on. Considering

A.) He's a legend

B.) He can still go

c.) He's charismatic.

The only downsides are

A.) He wants a limited schedule

B.) He can't go as good as he could

D.) Can WWE book him properly?

I say Smackdown to start with, Raw to end.
