MrRant 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2004 DENVER -- A 13-year-old Denver girl said she was threatened with a knife at her middle school and her hair was set on fire, yet she was the one who was told to stay home for the remainder of the school year while her alleged attacker wasn't suspended or even investigated. Courtney Glowczewski has a small right arm and leg because of cerebral palsy, a disability that her teachers say has not kept her from working hard in school and being a good student. ... Last week, she said the bullying got worse when she said she was threatened and assaulted by a seventh grade boy. "He pulled out a knife, a silver knife, a pocket knife, and then he said 'What!?' So I was scared and didn't know what to do," said Glowczewski. As she walked to her seat she smelled smoke and one of her classmates was patting her hard on the back. "I looked and there was a black spot on the back of my shirt. And then I saw some black hair falling from my hair," said Glowczewski. Her hair was on fire and the other student said that she was trying to help put it out. Her mother, Sherrie, was called to school when her daughter reported the incident to the assistant principal. Sherrie Glowczewski was outraged when she was told by the administration at Martin Luther King that her daughter didn't need to come back and not to worry about the tests. ... 7NEWS discovered that while Glowczewski was sent home, her alleged attacker is still in school, even though administrators confirmed he had a knife. The principal has now admitted her staff did not call police, did not interview potential witnesses, and did not conduct a proper investigation.<< http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/3348196/detail.html They confirmed the kid had a knife.... and he gets to stay in school while she has to stay home? Even though she doesn't have to "worry" about the tests you would think she would be able to come back while the little punk was at least expelled.
Some Guy 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2004 So, the kid had a knife and presumably the girl had burned hair. If hte little son of a bitch had a lighter or matches then that is more than enougg circumstantial evidence to suspend him and have criminal charges pressed. I could understand sending the girl home for the day but for the rest of the year? That's nuts. What the fuck does "don't worry about the tests" mean anyway? Guest Anglesault Report post Posted June 8, 2004 And you know someone will defend this. Way to contribute to the discourse. You and I both know that certain people find nothing wrong with a Psychopath that threatens to shoot up a school remaining in that school. Who's to say someone's not gonna come in and say "So, he pulled a knive on and set a handicapped girl on fire. Stop over reacting. He deserves an education just as much as the victim!" Slayer 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2004 This is too funny in a way I had predicted a long time ago Back when zero tolerance policies became all the rage and most schools in America started expelling kids for taking things like plastic food knives and nail clippers to school, I predicted that they'd be too busy searching for items like those (usually brought in by no-problem students, no less) that they'd stop caring if the real bastard thug kids actually brought real knives and guns to school. Looks like I was right. More ironic is that this was in Denver, of all places.

evilhomer 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2004 And people are shocked when I say we don't want kids. As if the world and the people in it aren't fucked up enough, these are the fucking morons who are put into place to protect them. I'd be in jail for life by the time my kid was six. I would literally rip those kids to shreds if that was my child.

Seconded I don't want to sound like Mr. Tough Guy, but I'd probably have my kid point out the problem kid (out of sight), find a way to get him in private and then let him know what's up... no physical violence unless necessary, just flash a knife or a gun and let him know I mean business if he keeps fucking around with my kid

And I don't think just intimidation and threats would be enough, eye for an eye, says I. Throw on a mask, give him the beating of his life, and tell him karma's a bitch. UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2004 They should make a movie out of this with Freddie Prinze Jr. and Mena Suvari. High-school teen love movie like "She's So Smokin' !" or something. I bet it would gross $100 million and then USA Network could show it every day.
