Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 MTV says that Omarion and Marques Houston revealed backstage at Saturday's taping of the 2004 MTV Movie Awards that a sequel to their dancing drama, You Got Served, is in the works. Chris Stokes, who manages both singers, will again direct. He is currently discussing the script with the co-stars and plans to begin shooting in late summer. "We're messing with the concept right now, trying to get it perfect, 'cause trying to top the first one is a big step," Houston said. "We don't want to do something that's too much like the first one, but not too far from it either. Sequels are tough." "There's so many different directions we could go," Omarion added. "I didn't have a father [in the first film], maybe my father could come back." The first film was produced for $8 million and earned $40.3 million domestically. The sequel will be out in 2005. Omarion and Houston can also seen together in the upcoming Fat Albert. movie. This made $40.3 million ? How the hell ?
justsoyouknow Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Well, I saw this at Arizona Mills, which, for those of you that aren't in Arizona, is in the middle of the ghetto. The theatre was packed full of minorities, who spent the majority of the team shouting things at the screen, singing along to the songs, and going "OHHHHHH!". I'm assuming that the minorites of the world LOVED You Got Served, and are demanding a sequel.
starvenger Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 You Got Served 2: It's On! Isn't there some sort of rule where it MUST be called "You Got Served 2: Electric Boogaloo"?
Art Sandusky Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 I see nothing wrong with this. In fact, I look forward to it. Bellyaching about it is like bitching about The Fast and the Furious being a bad film. The point isn't the plot or characters, it's the fucking insane dancing, same as car films.
Der Kommissar Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Well, from the article, it is cheap to produce and made 5 times as much as it cost to make, so I guess that could be classified as a success. If it costs that little, why not make another? Better than a $100 million dollar bomb. And a Fat Albert movie? May I ask WHY?

I'm assuming that the minorites of the world LOVED You Got Served, and are demanding a sequel. Not really... At least, not me. But, i'm sure most of that $40.3 million came from teenage girls. BTW, the dancing in the movie wasn't even that great.
Guest Brian Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Go to a breaking contest. If you've got quality dancers in your city, you'll be fine.
Youth N Asia Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 "You've Got Served 2: Serveder" the movie itself looked bad enough to skip. But everytime I saw the commercials it killed me: Evil Spikey-Haired Kid: "No rules?" Girl: "Straight street." It's friggin dancing! And as long as it's dancing you can't do a thing to make these guys come off tough or hard. Even "Straight Street" dancing.
Ravenbomb Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 well...the optimist in me hopes there's some Goth-Serving this time around...
justsoyouknow Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 You Got Juiced! The only thing that could possibly make this movie any good would be an OJ cameo.
razazteca Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 So will we get B2K vs IMX in a battle of DDR?
Lord of The Curry Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 It's not like I need to say it, but I will anyway: There is no kind or loving God.
Zack Malibu Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 So will we get B2K vs IMX in a battle of DDR? The B2K and IMX kids are on the same "team", or whatever the fuck you'd call it. The white kid with the DragonBall Z haircut was the villain with his crew. Kotz is right though. This movie is all about the dancing. The acting sucked ass, but it made money and was the number one movie in America for a week or two when it came out. It's also really no different than Breakin' or Rappin' or any of the 80's movies based off the same princicples.
MrRant Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 No dance movie will ever overcome the greatness of the dancing in Mr T.'s Be Somebody or Be Somebody's Fool.
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Wait, I almost forgot... didn't B2K break up ?
Guest T®ITEC Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Why isn't there a DDR movie, anyway? I would be all over that.

AndrewTS Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 You Got Juiced! The only thing that could possibly make this movie any good would be an OJ cameo. The current title would still fit, with O.J.'s new career at a waiter.
razazteca Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 It isn't even doing that well on DVD. Thats because the prime market i.e. the Ghetto peeps do not own dvd players.
AndrewTS Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 It isn't even doing that well on DVD. Thats because the prime market i.e. the Ghetto peeps do not own dvd players. Some of them do. Well, maybe "own" isn't exactly the appropriate legal term, but some of them have "acquired" DVD players.
Guest MikeSC Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 And a Fat Albert movie? May I ask WHY? "Hey, hey...hell no, you can't ask! b*tch!" -=Mike
razazteca Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 You Got Served 2: Got Something in my Pocket.
Exslade ZX Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Well...I already knew this since it said numerous times on the DVD extras. I actually fucking loved the movie no matter what anyone says. Helll...there's a lot worse out there that people are actually fans of, or 'rate highly'. Evidently it was sucessful even if everyone doesn't think so, or they weren't a fan. If it were not sucessful, they wouldn't even be trying to make a second. And yes, I'll agree that it's for a certain 'demographic' but so what, they're fans of it. There are plenty of other things out there for 'The white teen, pop loving girl'. So why not this? I personally liked the movie, even though one, I'm not a girl, and two I'm not ghetto, I just liked it. And I'm not even a huge B2K fan. Like said in the thread..just how F&F was about the cars, this is mainly about the dancing..and I strongly disagree with someone saying that the dancing wasn't even that good. . It's sort of like some wrestlers...how can you criticize them when I'm sure if you got up and tried you wouldn't be able to do it? That's just how I feel though.
EricMM Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 He got served here, here, and especially here...
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 Well, I saw this at Arizona Mills, which, for those of you that aren't in Arizona, is in the middle of the ghetto. The theatre was packed full of minorities, who spent the majority of the team shouting things at the screen, singing along to the songs, and going "OHHHHHH!". I'm assuming that the minorites of the world LOVED You Got Served, and are demanding a sequel. Shut the hell up. k tnx bye
justsoyouknow Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 No offense, Paragon! When I say "minorities", I mean people that watch MTV. My bad.
WrestlingFan4Ever Posted June 10, 2004 Report Posted June 10, 2004 The sad thing is, some people actually will go and see the sequel. This TRL generation of people has killed today's music, and crap like You Got Served is made because of them.
