NBA Offseason News and Moves

To be fair, the Bobcats did say that there is no way that will be their team once the season starts. Although I hope they're not counting on Gerald Wallace and the like drawing big trade offers, because it ain't happening.

Brandon Hunter will average a very nice double double for them if they keep him around, I'd say. He looked quite good in the games he got time in last year but for whatever reason, got lost in the line up and benched. Well, until it was time to try to kill Jermaine O Neal.

According to Boston sports radio station WEEI the Celts might trade Paul Pierce, Pick 15, and Pick 25 to the Bulls for Chandler, Crawford, Hinrich, Pippen, and Pick 3

I hope this doesn't go through. Hinrich is the best thing the Bulls have right now, him Chandler and Crawford aren't worth it. Pippen isn't gonna be playing, but I'd still like to see him stay in Chicago.

I would be psyched to see Shaq come to Dallas. He's been my favorite player that actually plays for a long time, (Shawn Bradley hasn't been doing anything for a while and he couldn't even get any minutes this year.), and Dallas has been my favorite team since back when it looked like they might be good when they had Mashburn and Kidd. Even if they get rid of Nowitzki and Finley, they'd still have Nash to shoot the ball when needed and feed Shaq when not, in addition to Daniels who's gonna be a great player and Antawn Jamison. Also, Van Exel's been wanting to come back to Dallas ever since he left, so even if they didn't win it all next year, they would in two years for sure.

Could anyone beat this lineup?

PG: Steve Nash

SG: Nick Van Exel

SF: Marquis Daniels

PF: Antawn Jamison

C: Shaquille O' Neal

HELL NO!

Coming from the other side of this, I don't want to see this trade either. For all his faults Pierce is still the best thing Boston has going too. I'd love to see at least one GOOD Celtic stay in the kelly green for his whole career. Besides we can't trade 2 team captains in 2 consecutive seasons right?

I was actually hoping the Bobcats did take Dixon, the guy is the ultimate chucker, the biggest ballhog I have ever witnessed in team basketball.

The irony here being, that he backs up Gilbert Arenas, the man who TWICE refused to shoot during a game after teammates called him out on being a ball hog.

Yes. The Spurs, Pistons and T-Wolves all could for sure.

Two more Charlotte trades:

Zaza Pachulia to Milwaukee for the 45th pick

Aleksandar Pavlovic to Cleveland for a future first-rounder, via Toronto.

The Bulls are brain dead morons if they trade Hinrich. That is there first good draft pick in God knows how long, they should hold onto him.

Trade the Twin Towers of Underachieving all you want though.

If the Rockets get Tmac, Juwan Howard, Ty Lue then that line up with Ming and Mo Taylor could squash the Mavs.

Parker

Ginobili

Jackson

Nesterovich

Duncan

Fear them and their 25 3-point attempts per game airballs. Fear the Pick & Roll or the Timmy waits for the double team and throws the turnover offense!

Pick might be going to L.A Lakers

By Marc Stein

ESPN.com

The Dallas Mavericks, while still hoping to convince the Los Angeles Lakers to send them Shaquille O'Neal, look to have completed another major trade on the eve of the NBA draft, ESPN.com has learned.

The Mavericks, according to league sources, have acquired the No. 5 overall pick in Thursday's draft from Washington as part of a package that features Antawn Jamison, the newly minted Sixth Man of the Year, as the prize catch for the Wizards.

The other players involved in the deal were not immediately known. Sources, however, say the Mavericks hope to use the No. 5 pick -- or possibly another player or players acquired in the deal -- to sweeten the package they can offer the Lakers in exchange for the disgruntled O'Neal. It is also possible, sources say, that the Mavericks will pursue additional trades with the other pieces they land from Washington.

ESPN.com reported late Tuesday that, according to Lakers sources, L.A. refuses to deal O'Neal to their Western Conference rival unless Dallas makes Dirk Nowitzki available. Mavericks sources maintain that Nowitzki remains off-limits, but the prospect of adding the No. 5 pick to a package that could include point guard Steve Nash (via sign-and-trade), Antoine Walker (who has just one year left on his contract) and promising rookie Josh Howard should at least get the Lakers' attention.

If the Lakers do eventually consent to trade O'Neal, in the wake of Shaq's demand for a trade last week, their goal would be injecting their roster with quality youth and depth to surround Kobe Bryant.

If the Mavericks can't swing a subsequent deal for the No. 5 pick, they will undoubtedly weigh the merits of drafting Pavel Podkolzine, the 7-foot-5 center from Russia.

Jamison's appeal to the Wizards is obvious. Instead of gambling on more youth at No. 5 with an inexperienced roster already, Washington gets an established frontcourt scorer who should contend for an All-Star spot in the East after accepting a bench role without complaint in Dallas.

So, Nash, Walker, Howard and the #5 pick for O'Neal?

Walker is garbage, and the Lakers don't need Nash because they already have Payton. As far as I'm concerned, a Shaq-Nash duo would do better than a Shaq-Dirk tandem, because Nash would do a better job of feeding Shaq the ball.

Oh, and another thing, couldn't the Mavs have gotten a higher pick for a guy who is capable of averaging 21+ points and 8+ rebounds per game? Only the fifth pick? They should've at least been able to get as high as #3 for Jamison.

I'd just like to remind everyone that there is a pinned thread for the NBA draft, so discussion of the events of tomorrow night should go there.

Theres just something about the Wizards aquiring All Star caliber power forwards. How long before the trade Jamison for an old, over the hill veteran. I seem to remember them having C Webb, Sheed,Ben Wallace and Juwan Howard all on the same squad.

New trade announced between Bulls and Suns

The trade, which won't be announced until Thursday, will give the Suns one of the Bulls' second-round picks (No. 31), a future first-rounder and an undisclosed sum of cash in return for the pick.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

The Bulls get the 7th pick in exchange for all that.

This is horrible news, because it means the're going to take Ben Gordon and try to play him as a shooting guard. Yikes.

Eh, Jamison will probably be a bust with the Wizards. Getting rid of Stackhouse and Laettner was the better part of the deal anyway, even if it means they just traded away who they traded Rip Hamilton for.

Chad Ford on espn.com thinks the Bulls will go with Luke Jackson. Apparently theyre "infatuated" with him says Ford.

Wow. That's a pretty good deal for Dallas actually. Getting the #5 overall pick, Jerry Stackhouse who will probably be a very good scorer off the bench, and Laetner for just Jamison basically.
