Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted July 8, 2004 The Magic are making good strides to be competitive Restricted free-agent Hedo Turkoglu and the Orlando Magic and have agreed to a six-year deal worth around $39 million, his agent, Lon Babby, said Wednesday. The contract is believed to be for Orlando's full mid-level exception. Free-agent contracts cannot be signed until July 14, at which point the San Antonio Spurs will have 15 days to match the Magic's offer. "He's one of the few skill players available at that position," a Magic source said told ESPN's David Aldridge about Turkoglu. "We're planning on pushing the ball and running a lot and that's the type of system he flourished in in San Antonio." In 80 games with San Antonio this past season, the 6-foot-10, 235-pound swing man from Turkey averaged 9.2 points and 4.5 rebounds. Overall, in three seasons with Sacramento and one in San Antonio, he has averaged 7.9 ppg and 3.8 rpg in 301 games.
Guest Unwritten Religion Report post Posted July 8, 2004 According to David Aldridge Quentin Richardson has agreed to a deal with the Suns worth $48-50 million dollars. Clippers will have 15 days to match once the signing period begins. Will Dave match that? ..... Goodbye Q, I'll miss you man.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 Hope they match him. I'm a huge fan of Shaun Livingston, and more scoring options, the more of a chance of him getting Rookie of the Year.

Yeah, I think he could win the Rookie of The Year award. He's a great passer, and 6-7 BYGOD~! And I say around 2008, He'll be the best Point Guard in the NBA. Oh, and Dude Talks like an adult. I think he really should of went to Duke. And Another Issue I like to disscuss, do you think D-Howard is going to be a bust?
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 And Another Issue I like to disscuss, do you think D-Howard is going to be a bust? Maybe... Don't really know too much about him. He never had the LeBron hype, where they showed his HS games on ESPN. So it's hard to judge him. But all I know is he better be somthing, or else the GM of Orlando will look like the biggest idiot. Because I DO believe Emeka Okafor will be somthing, and will be an all-star C.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted July 8, 2004 Rudy T is just about a done deal in L.A., sayeth Sportscenter. So much for the Lakers falling apart. A great coach won't guarantee a great team. See Pat Riley signing with the Miami Heat, or even his stint with the Knicks. He made playoffs with both teams, but never really led either one close to the greatness he got with the Showtime Lakers. Now if Kobe signs and they get a good young team of free agents, maybe they can at least be competitive and hope to be back on top in a few years. If not, well.. Hey there's always the satisfaction of the threepeat... (watches Lakers DVD set)

Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted July 8, 2004 Celtics resign Marc Blount to a 6 year deal. Color me surprised since I didn't think they would even make an attempt to keep him.

Gert T 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 Great move by the Suns. Reportedly they could have had TMac for Shawn Marion, Joe Johnson & the no. 7 pick. Phoenix balked because they did not want to trade Joe Johnson their 2 guard. So why do they try to spend 50 million on Q?
Gert T 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 Great photo of Okafor. This may not be the best team we could field, but I am pretty excited to watch this team.

Steviekick 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 Since Turkoglu is gone, I see the Spurs keeping Ginobli. He'll get whatever he wants.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 Ginobili > Turkoglu Turkoglu is too inconsistent. Ginobili does have stretches and games where he slowly but surely kills Popovich with boneheaded play, but he's got more upside than Turkoglu. Neither deserve max contracts though, IMO.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 Hell's yeah. Ginobli also brings out a whole lot of enthusiasm in his play. ESPN's saying that Utah and KMart are officially over. It looks like they have set themselves on Carlos Boozer.
Gert T 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 I would really be surprised if Boozer leaves Cleveland. It seems like he'll be content in Cleveland since he will be a 15-10 guy in Cleveland as long as he's there.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted July 8, 2004 (edited) Carlos Boozer agrees to a 6 year $60mill deal with Utah. I believe Cleveland can match it though. I don't know if Boozer is a restricted FA. Efit: Its 6 years and $68mill. The Cavs can't match it because they don't have the Cap space. Cleveland made a dumb risk. Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 That is devastating news for Cleveland. Looks like another year of not making the playoffs for LeBron.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 Who knows. The CAVS might match it, but they have to trade in-order to match it. But if Boozer goes to Utah. Utah will no doubt make playoffs. Ak47 and Boozer? Peace!
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 Agreed. With the Jazz re-signing Arroyo to go along with Kirilenko, possibly Boozer, and hopefully a healthy Harpring, the Jazz all of a sudden look like a playoff contender.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 I heard they are getting Okur too. C - Okur PF - Boozer SF - AK47 SG - Harping PG - Arroyo 6th Man - Raul Lopez Give them a few years to develop and they can be a future championship team.
Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted July 8, 2004 I believe they already signed Okur. Either way this is a huge blow to Cleveland who can once again look towards the high part of the lottery since LeBron can't carry them on his own. Cleveland should look towards trading Big Z for a draft pick and a player who's contract runs out at the end of the year. Then in 05 they can retool through FA. C - Okur PF - Boozer SF - AK47 SG - Harping PG - Arroyo 6th Man - Raul Lopez Give them a few years to develop and they can be a future championship team. Don't forget they are also coached by "The Man", Jerry Sloan. They should be very competitive and exciting to watch next year. Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2004 Atleast they got Luke Jackson? Well, I was looking foward to that trio. The Jazz may be able to win a championship in the near future. Under Jerry Sloan, those guys can have great seasons.
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2004 From http://www.nba.com/cavaliers/ Cavaliers Issue Statement on Carlos Boozer Today, and continuing into tonight, there have been various reports in the media regarding the status of Carlos Boozer. Related to those reports, here is a statement that has been issued from Jim Paxson and Gordon Gund. Also attached are several quotes from Carlos Boozer and his agent that were reported by the Associated Press on July 1st. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Statement from Jim Paxson and Gordon Gund regarding Carlos Boozer: "Our actions have been based upon what Carlos told us he wanted. This was also entirely consistent with his public statements in the media July 1. We are both very surprised and very disappointed by what is now being reported. Offer sheets cannot be signed until July 14, once the NBA's free agency moratorium period is over. It is unlikely we will have more to say prior to that." Carlos Boozer quote: "I want to be in Cleveland," Boozer said Thursday (July 1st). "I like it here. My wife and I are very, very happy here, and I want to be with the Cavaliers. Good things are happening. Now it's up to my agent and the Cavs to work things out. I hope they will." Carlos Boozer quote: "I'm thankful for everything the Cavs have done for me," Boozer said. "A lot of teams didn't think I was worth it and let me slide into the second round. But they were the ones who gave me a chance and let me play as a rookie. That doesn't happen much in this league unless you're LeBron." Rob Pelinka quote: "Carlos and his wife, C.C., made it clear to me that they are very comfortable with the Cavaliers' organization, owner Gordon Gund and the direction the team is going," Pelinka (Rob, Carlos's agent with SFX) said. "I'm confident that Jim and I will continue to have conversations and we'll be able to work something out." This one hurts.
nogoodnick 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2004 Damn I was really looking forward to seeing Cleveland contend for a playoff spot. They can still do it I guess but it just got waaay harder. Utah is looking pretty damn good right now.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted July 9, 2004 Ouch. I hope Carlos really didn't give him his word that he'd for sure resign with them if they'd break his contract and give him a bigger one. Because if he did...well...I can't say as I entirely blame him but thats still fairly shitty of him.
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2004 Well, according to the local sports reports here in Cleveland, Carols DID give Jim Paxson and Gordon Gund his word that he would resign w/ Cleveland. Sucks of Carlos to betray Cleveland's trust and sucks of Cavs' management to be so trusting of Carlos.
