1234-5678 Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 I'm very close to getting a job where I'd pull in about $11 an hour, but I need to put together a resume first. Any tips? I've never done it before, and have no idea how to format it and whatnot.
Murmuring Beast Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 List your qualifications, work experience in order of chronology. List your qualities and experiences in life and what you could offer to that position with these experiences. If you can speak any languages or are good with computers or maybe even something like music, the boss will see a dedicated person who will apply themselves outside of the workplace. Basically talk yourself up and prove that you are the best man for the job.
the max Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 Join at Monster.com or Careerbuilder and they'll show you how to make one. Use MS Word to write it, as they have templates to use as well.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 how old are you man? you've had to have done a resume before.
1234-5678 Posted June 21, 2004 Author Report Posted June 21, 2004 I'm 22 and no. I've always just filled out applications. The job is actually just working by a conveyor belt and filling boxes full of bags of hot fries. Repetitive and stupid yes, but for $11, I'll take it. It's another job I would be getting through the temp agency.
Guest Vitamin X Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 Well that makes me feel slightly better about applying through the temp agency I'm going through
kkktookmybabyaway Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 You need a resume for that? I'd pimp any work you did that could show you can do the job they're asking for. 99.9% of my resumes included work experience (Type of job I did and various achievements; usually took up the bulk of my page -- resumes shouldn't be longer than one page) and education. Also, before presenting your resume to someone, pretend you're the employer, look at your resume, and think about if you would hire yourself for the job based on your resume. Then again 99.9% of my resumes didn't land me a job, so I may not be the person giving you advice.
Guest I Got Banned for Sucking Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 I always for format/ted them with the basic details first, such as name, age, address, phone, etc., and then get into why I would want this job, my interests, qualifications and so on, just so that they can get to know you as a person from that piece of paper. But I've mostly registered via the website of the business anyway. Good luck.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted June 22, 2004 Report Posted June 22, 2004 15 year olds apply for office jobs? Did I fall asleep for 20 years?

1234-5678 Posted June 22, 2004 Author Report Posted June 22, 2004 I didn't get it anyway, by the time I sent it, all the positions were filled. Well, for now, till someone quits.
