Video Game Compilations

How many vidoe game compilation games are there out there? I've always wanted to have a dvd for the Playstation 2 or Gamecube that would feature a compilation of games from the NES, SNES, Atrari 2600, Commodore 64 or the arcade. Can anybody list them?

I've seen compilations from Namco, Activision & Midway for PS2. They're all old Atari-style games like Galaxian, Pac-Man, Joust, Galaga, etc. Good stuff! :)

I got that, but the controls are terrible on most games so it doesn't get much play in my house...usually it only gets broken out when a group is over or something...

I want the original Street Fighter to be on the Sf comp...yeah it's wack compared to Street Fighter 2, but for pure nostalgia it would be cool to play it again...anyone remeber the original arcade cabinet with the two huge buttons, one for punch and one for kick and the harder to hit it would determine whether you throw a jab or a fierce punch or a short or roundhouse kick? good times man....

*Shudder* I'd sooner have Street Fighter: The Movie on there, but at least it beats SF 2010.

There is a new version of SF1 out for PC now. It's a combo pack with SF II CE. It's called Capcom Arcade hits volume 1 or something.

I want a complilation of Killer Instinct and KI 2.

I demand BurgerTime be on one of these old school comps someday. I adored that game as a kid, and had it on an emulator on my old comp, but lost it when I lost said comp.

Where can I find this compilation? Also, since Microsoft did buy Rare where is KI 3? I think Rare managed to retail the rights to the characters.

I found it in the budget release section of Best Buy.

Rare has always said they don't feel there's a market for KI3.

oooh yeah. I saw it at a Canadian Blockbuster, but felt it completely unnecessary to pick up since I don't like SF1 and I don't like playing PC games anyway.

If he's gotta have it...

Considering the success rate of 2D to 3D transitioned fighters, I'm not surprised.

Oh well, no ultraviolent 80-hit tap-tap combos performed to horrid disco-techno-pop...for now.

There's a sequel to the Midway Arcade Treasures compilation on the way, with stuff like Total Carnage, Narc, MKII, and so on. The old thread probably is gone, though.

The PS2 and GC Mega Man Anniversary Collections are out, but the GBA one is on the way with the Mega Man 1-5 GB games. I don't know if they're any good and the original carts run 15 bucks + a pop without the boxes or anything. :P

Heh. I think I have more "comp" games for my PS2 than up-to-date games, Madden excluded.

I have those Activision and Midway comps. I think I have Namco's, too, but I'd have to check. Activision's comp is fun because there's an 80s soundtrack that comes within the game, plus it has Pitfall II...

Its about time SF 2 got the PS2 treatment.

And Ayanka, KI and KI2 were terrible. Both myself and my ex-roommate (whom admittedly, were both huge SF-heads back then) tried to play KI and KI2, but we both sneered at the fact that it was too much about amassing combos, and nowhere near enough strategy. Though I have to admit that KI for the SNES was a good game, for what it is. I think the perfect blend of strategy and combo ability was SSFII... maybe SSFII Turbo.

I have both Namco and Midway comps. I agree with the statement that the controls are not good for the PS2, and that the controls for the PS1 comp were much tighter.

One of these days, I am going to break down and buy the Intellivision and Activision comps... if only for the sheer nostalgia for way back in the day..

Yeah, there's also a remake/sequel on the way, with something like a story mode or some such nonsense. I think that's 2005 though. The Treasures 2 compilation I have no idea about, since it shouldn't actually take long to program.

...and I remember got thrown out of the arcade after breaking the joystick, and my finger got sore from all the button bashing. I was waaay into the game, perhaps.

Strangely, I actually played SF2 first...so I went 'WTF?' all the time when I first played SF1. Yeah, red-headed Ryu. Wacky.

Activision's comp is awesome. I have the GBA version and have played the PS2 version. Awesome stuff. Pitfall, Tennis, Dolphin, Spider Fighter (my favorite Atari game as a kid), and a bunch more.
