Guest Real F'n Show Report post Posted June 29, 2004 I'm betting on the Twins taking at least 2 of 3 from the ChiSox this week. Their three best pitchers (Silva/Radke/Santana) will be going, and if their gonna lose 1 game, it will be the Silva vs. Buerhle game. Freddy Garcia has to go against the Twins ace, Brad Radke at home. The Santana, who's really turned it on as of late, will face Garland, who's not that good at all. Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2004 Runs Scored/Runs Allowed.... Minnesota 343/357 Chicago WS 416/349 I think it was only a matter of time before the Sox pulled away, regardless of any moves they made. Minnesota's record is much better than it should be. LOL, that's what they say about the twins every year, yet every year they're in the playoffs! I don't put so much stock in the numbers when it comes to Minnesota, they have a big homefield advantage and they know how to win down the stretch. They're a very experienced and very intelligent team. I think that stat is a little decieving because Minnesota usually keeps games close and knows how to win the nailbiters, while when the Sox win they're putting a ton of runs up on the board. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 Sidney Ponson is on his way to loss #8 in a row although this was probably his best pitched game in that streak. It is only 4-3 vs the Royals bullpen so maybe he can sneak out of it with a ND..

sfaJack 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 Craig Biggio proves he is truly worth being in fifth place amongst NL outfielders in AS voting with that wonderful play in the 7th. Cubs win 7-5 and have now taken 5 straight from Houston.
treble 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 Someone else on the Blue Jays is going to get hurt if whoever's playing left and right that particular night don't start opening their ears and listening to Reed Johnson call for it. There were 2 times tonight where he almost smashed into someone who wasn't paying attention. His body language after each of those plays was hilarious, though, you could tell he wanted to tear a strip off of Rios and Berg.

treble 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 Maybe on the 1st one with Rios, but the next inning with Berg he was yelling and screaming up a storm and Berg still didn't give way. Johnson didn't even look at him after that.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 Crosby the rookie comes through again with the RBI single in the 8th inning as the Dotel gets the save and the A's take game one from the Angels. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted June 30, 2004 Sox hoping rivalry brings about revival Damon:Trip to NY will boost intensity By Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff | June 29, 2004 NEW YORK -- Rookie third baseman Kevin Youkilis stood in the middle of the Boston clubhouse Sunday, being asked about the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry. He's never experienced it, called up from Pawtucket well after the Sox won six of seven games against the Yankees in April. ADVERTISEMENT He's only heard the stories from teammates and coaches. At one point he looked down and seemed startled to realize he was wearing a red "Uncivil War" T-shirt, promoting the the series without even realizing it. Anyone know where they sell such a shirt? Its true that the Twins usually outperform their runs scored and allowed. But this season they allowed more runs than they've scored. That simply cannot hold up. C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 Phillies *POUND* the Expos 17-7. I missed half the game, but picked it up at 9-7 in the 5th inning. Eric Milton gets win #10. This was probably Milton's least deserved win of the year (and he's had several others that were close). He gave up 7 runs in 5 IP and got the win. That's a team picking up a pitcher if I've ever seen it. On the side, David Bell has been on a roll as of late. He's starting to look worth the $4.4 we're paying him. the max 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 Good matinee today with the Cards and Bucs playing at 12:30. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 Call me cynical, but the moment Ramon Martinez struck out in the 8th with the bases loaded, I knew the Astros had won this game. With Clemens on the mound, I wasn't expecting a Cubs win, but considering that they had the go-ahead run on second in the 8th with no outs and the heart of their lineup due, they should've scored. But Ramirez failed and Lee got a bad break on a hard-hit ball. Patterson's AB impressed me, as did Martinez', but it doesn't make up for the fact that the Cubs could've gained a game in the Central today, not to mention, hand the Stros another loss, but that's not how it went. Hopefully this won't be the turning point for the Astros; I guess this game makes up for last night's.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 Didn't see all of the game, but I'll agree that the homeplate ump was crap. He had a very leniant strike zone for both teams, which is fine, I suppose, since he did it for both of them. Still, he came off as an idiot on several occassions throughout the game. While I'm here, how about Hawkins? It's clear he's not closer material, which is okay, since he's a great set-up man. But since Borowski's going to be out for a while, he's the man in line for the job. I still think the Cubs need to go out and make one or two fairly significant trades like they did mid-season last year. Someone in the bullpen, preferably a real closer, and someone offensively. The Nomar for Clement deal is an attractive one, but I'm not sure how quick I'd be to give up Clement at this point since he's pitched so well most of the season. Then still, he's in his walking year and from the sounds of it, it's a crapshoot as to whether they plan on bringing him back next season. And what happened to the Cubs' defense? Perhaps this is the real Cubs' defense, since everyone was so surprised that they were the best defensive team in the NL as recently as a week and a half ago. It's been six or seven games since they didn't make at least one error; an unsettling stat for a team that hopes to not only make it to postseason, but deep into it.
