NoCalMike Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 It was in the late 80's and this machine happened to be sitting in a 711..... The best I can remember is that when you punched it made a sound like, "poo poo poo" and when you kicked it made a sound like, "hike hike hike" It was a VERY simplistic video game. Basically just a basic kick & punch fight scheme, and it just had to do with timing......I must have been about 8 or 9 years old at the time.....
razazteca Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 If it had 2 joysticks then it was Karate Champ.
NoCalMike Posted June 30, 2004 Author Report Posted June 30, 2004 If it had 2 joysticks then it was Karate Champ. if that is the game that Frank Dukes and Ray Jackson were playing in Blood Sport, then no it isn't that one......
Jingus Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 That game's had a bunch of different titles, but it's usually just called Kung-Fu. It was one of my old favorites both in the arcade and on the NES. You take your generic fighting guy, Thomas, and brawl through five levels of a giant pagoda to rescue your girlfriend Sylvia from Mr. X. My favorite opponent was the Magician on the fourth floor; if you jump-kicked him it DECAPITATED him, but his head grew back and it did no damage. Heh. Fun memories. ...yeah, like I said in the cosplay thread, I wasted a LOT of my youth on gaming.
Downhome Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 As said before, it sounds like this game. It's just called Kung Fu, I had it on the NES, and I still love it to this day. There was an arcade game by the same people, called Kung Fu Masters, so it could be that, as I don't know if the NES Kung Fu was ever in the arcades. EDIT: Kung Fu was also an arcade game, so it could be that one also.
Jingus Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 There was indeed an arcade version of the NES Kung Fu, went by the same name, was pretty much identical except for better graphics.
Guest CronoT Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 Here's a flash movie someone made of it. http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/25705
Cartman Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 If it had 2 joysticks then it was Karate Champ. if that is the game that Frank Dux and Ray Jackson were playing in Blood Sport, then no it isn't that one...... edited for accuracy
Jingus Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 It was KUNG FU dammit, the sounds NoCal described match that game's sound effects exactly.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 I'm guessing Kung Fu, too. I never really played that game, but I'm not hatin' on it either...
NoCalMike Posted July 1, 2004 Author Report Posted July 1, 2004 How about Yie'Ar Kung-Fu? THIS IS IT....Umm, I could of sworn I posted a response saying you were right, yesterday, but maybe the puter here at work messed up trying to post the reply.....hmmm. I did look up this game and this was DEFINATELY IT.

Thanks a lot man..........I've been trying to get to the last boss for like 18 years now, and you just ruined it for me.
razazteca Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 You can buy the game for the GBA on one of the Konami 4-in-1 carts for $9.88 at Walmart.
