Seriously, who was the worst choice to hold the WWE title in company history? Was it because they had the worst reign imaginable or because they were undeserving?

I think Big Shows first title run has to be the worst. He won a match that he wasnt even supposed to be a part of, and he needed Vince's help to do it. His matches after that were absolutely crap as well.

JBL may prove to be the worst, but i cant vote for him until he loses the title. Only after he loses the title can you really judge how good/bad his run was.

Not to mention that the majority of Big Show's first reign was that awful feud with the Bossman. Remember Armegeddon '99 when Big Show defended the belt against Bossman in a 3 (or so) minute match that earned a "boring" chant from the crowd? And we complain that the belt is worthless now ;)

I voted for Antonio Inoki. He's only a slightly better worker than Bradshaw and most WWE fans don't even know about his "reign."

The worst wrestler to be World Champion was Vince McMahon, but Diesel was the worst champion overall just because his reign was so long and damaging. It almost put the WWF out of business. Vince's reign had no long lasting impact, and unless JBL keeps it for months on end, neither will his.

Diesel's run is also notable because both Bret Hart & Shawn Michaels, and possibly even Lex Luger were better and more popular options to begin with.

I voted for JBL.

Vince's reign was only 6 days, then he vacated it. It basically served to bring Triple H's title count up to 2 because the WWF was so big on the number of titles you have held at the time (and they still are).

John Bradshaw Layfield is meant to be taken seriously. His interview on Smackdown! this week shows the fans could care less about him.

At least Diesel was somewhat popular. At least the Big Show has the look to give him some heat, but JBL is completely heatless.

Antonio Inoki's title reign has been accepted and denied many times since he won it, so he can't be the worst WWF champion ever because some people don't even acknowledge him as a former champion.

Diesel completely.

He was NOT somewhat popular as the house shows tanked during his run and will always be mrked the lowest drawing champion ever.

It lasted a full year. JBL will likely last 2-4 weeks...

Worst worker? yes but not the worst champion.

Bradshaw is not the worst worker to be champion. Let's be honest here, Stasiak was pretty awful from the limited 70's footage I've seen of him. Really, Vince is the only logical pick because his reign was only designed to get himself over as being that much more important than the wrestlers. Whoever said that Inoki is only *slightly* better than Bradshaw needs to watch some more tapes, especially soe of the nice Inoki/Backlund stuff and for a treat, the far superior to Flair/Vader 12/93 match, Inoki/Vader from 1/96.

I think Big Show could've been a good champion if they had put effort into his title runs. I'd put his first run right up there with Jericho's as one of the most mishandled title reigns ever, because once he won the belt, WWF really didn't do anything with him. His storyline with Bossman took a backseat to the HHH/McMahon feud, with the whole "You're a big nasty bastard" segment being the only real development between the two following Survivor Series, and IIRC, Show wasn't even allowed to cut a real promo until like a month into his reign. His reign was an afterthought, and that's why nobody really bought into him as champion.

As for the worst ever...definitely Diesel.

Even Vince had more crediblity than Bradshaw.

That's right, Vince had won the Royal Rumble earlier that year

Meanwhile, Bradshaw's Royal Rumble appearance earlier in the year had him lasting less than a minute and being the first man eliminated.

I think Guerrero was a lousy champion.

If you're gonna rip up Diesel for not being a draw or having memorable matches, then you must do the same for Eddie.

House shows are being cancelled everywhere. Smackdown! is lousy. He's the main focus. He didn't have any stand-out defenses, save for Angle. And he lost it to a mid-carder.

As if it's his fault that his opponents suck?

And vs Mysterio on Smackdown was very good.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Kane yet. I didn't add him to the list, but I almost did. I figured Kane's one day reign and decent work-rate were enough that no one would pick him. And so far, it looks like I was right.

Now-now. The answer is Sid. Granted, JBL is a terrible wrestler, but he is great in his current gimmick. Besides, I think JBL has improved, at least a little, in his matches overall. Sid is a horrible wrestler, had a meaningless gimmick, lacked charisma. All he had was that he was a big guy who had a cliche, old school heel gimmick, which he still managed to do poorly in. (Although he still performed worse as a face.) Diesel was at least popular at that time and well over with the fans. Vince McMahon's title reign at least added to his feuds. Same with Big Show. Just overall, Sid was horrinle---in everything.

Sid wasn't the strongest on the mic, but I wouldn't say he was uncharismatic. He was fairly good at getting the crowd riled up, and the fans went crazy for him during his face run in 96/97. As a champion, he wasn't a good draw, but I'd still place him above Diesel because one, both reigns were short, and also he had a higher level of competition (Bret, Shawn, Taker and Vader were all chasing him at one point), so the belt looked more important.

Sid's overness in 96 still surprises me to this day.

*watches WM 11, SummerSlam & Survivor Series 96

How did he do it?!!

Sid is one of the great mysteries of the modern world. The man did two moves (including the boot) and was over like crazy. He had almost no buildup for when he first (re-)appeared in the WWF in '95('96?) as Shawn's bodyguard. He proceeded to powerbomb Shawn and I guess that was enough to give him uber-heat for the rest of his many brief stays with the company. It apparently warranted him a title shot, too.

Sid is still over. He'd be a great addition to Smackdown right now if his leg wasn't in such bad shape. Just give him a manager like Heyman and there's your #1 heel for the rest of the year. In conclusion, Sid was crazy over.

I voted Bradshaw. WWE should have at least given Bradshaw a mid-card push before skyrocketing to the main event World Title scene. He was in arguably the lowest match on the WM XX card.

Wow. They all suck, really. It'd be either Vince McMahon or JBL. But if JBL's push had lasted longer and he'd been given time to improve his in-ring ability then perhaps it wouldn't be such a fucked-up decision.

Vince would never have been taken seriously. So I'm voting Vince :headbang:

No votes for Yokozuna? I thought his 9 month reign was painful to watch.

My vote is for Diesel.

Diesel's reign was much more painful to than Yokozuna's.

I blame Diesel's title reign on why I started watching wcw more and not worrying if I missed a week or a month of raw because it was so terrible to witness.

Voting for JBL is pretty meaningless considering he just became champion. At least he's a WRESTLER. Not to mention his interview skills have improved somewhat as well and he's not as horrible in the ring as used to be.

Vince is the worst champion. He wasn't a wrestler and it was just pure ego stroking for him.

Yoko's tittle reign was ok btw. For a man of his obscene size he was alright. The only problem is that it didn't age so well. His matches with Bret were great though.

I added JBL because I knew people would want to vote for him, and it would seem that I was right. I do enjoy his character often, but the thought "Bradshaw is the WWE Champion" still sends chills down my spine, especially over how much I've valued that title over the years.

And I agree about Yokozuna. He was an effective champion, and I didn't even mind his matches with Lex Luger.

Yokozuna may not have been an increible technical wrestler or anything, but he didn't need to. A man who had a weight range from 650-750 pounds (depending on the time) had enough to work with, with what ability he had. And even if he wasn't a good technical wrestler, he brought a lot to the match and mixed well with all sorts of wrestling styles. Yokozuna could have wrestled no-talent jobbers and make the match look interesting. He could take a bump from high fliers, brawlers, and technical wrestlers. And that the other thing, even though he was huge, he would take bumps and sell the moves, especially for the high-fliers who never received much credit at that time in the WWF. I mean, I think Lex Luger is one of the worst wrestlers I have ever seen, but Yokozuna made him look good! And Undertaker isn't that great of wrestler either, but Yokozuna and Undertaker had one of the biggest feuds in the '90s.
