Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 My Team After The Draft: QB - Brett Favre WR - Chris Chambers WR - Rod Smith RB - Ahman Green RB - Michael Bennett TE - Anthony Becht WR/TE - Keyshawn Johnson BN - Johnnie Morton (WR) BN - Joey Harrington (QB) BN - Travis Taylor (WR) BN - Troy Brown (WR) K - Adam Vinatieri DEF - Pittsburgh Not bad if I say so myself. This team coming from a guy who knows only this and that of football (where have I heard that before?). And just for laughs, I've done up a projection of a team's overall valued worth. Taking into account that rookies are purely based on speculation (hence nothing), that there are benches, and the fact of how many players are on your team (minus rookies). Darkside Dominators = 104.30 Presented By BankOne = 118.08 Agent Bond 34 = 103.17 Gotham Harlequinns = 113.39 Michaels Mark = 127.35 Paper Tigers = 119.12 Serenity = 117.33 Gridiron Lunatics = 129.68 Utter Burnination = 111.00 SmootCriminal = 120.75 Gibbs Disciples = 85.55 The Injuried Prone = 122.27 Foreign Objects = 147.71 Pawtucket Patriots = 110.56 Randy Orton = 105.55 Crimson Storm = 119.32 Based purely on last year's stats people and is value of the team on a basis. Not a projection or weekly performance. Just strickly what value your team is.
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 148 130 127 122 120 119 119 118 117 113 111 111 106 104 103 86 Out of those numbers, the range is only 62 points. The range from #1 to #2 is 18 points and the range from #15 to #16 is 17 points. The range from #2 to #15 is only 27 points. The median is 118 points(117.5) with as many as 7 teams coming with-in 5 points of that mark. The mean is 116 points(115.8) which shows that this league should be highly competitive and a damn close race in the end with only a handful of points separating teams from the top or the bottom. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 Its odd that I didnt really think I did too well with the draft and yet I managed to get the 2nd highest "score". I would feel a lot better if I had gotten a decent 3rd RB, but like I said I'll wait that out and see what happens. As for the RB situation, I myself don't have any concerns with the 2 that I have (Lewis and Wheatley) although Lewis of course could have legal problems. Wheatley is going to be a big beneficiary of Norv Turner coming to Oakland.
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 The biggest question in Oakland really is who will be the starting RB. You not only have Wheatley in the running(who looks to be the best bet at the moment) but you also have Justin Fargas, Amos Zereou and Troy Hambrick looking to land the starting role in Oakland and at the very least, the #2(maybe even #3 RB) will be stealing some carries from Wheatley or whomever is named the starter. razazteca 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 The Injured Prone QB: Drew Bledsoe, Rich Gannon RB: LT, Moe Williams WR: Hines Ward, Joe Horn, Reggie Wayne TE: Algea Crumbler Kicker: the ageless wonder Morton Andersen Defense: Eagles Bench: Onterio Smith, Dennis Northcutt, Kevin Faulk Strength: Passing game by either the WR or RB. The defense that can cause turnovers on any play. Weakness: A pair of questionable QBs who had no offensive line to protect them last year and were sacked too much. Bledsoe also likes to fumble. Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 I feel sorry for Agent Bond34. If Marshall retires, he's pretty much fucked at RB. ...figures that right after the draft, something like that happens.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 The Faulk rumors have been floating around for a while. I'm suprised Bond didn't get Stephen Jackson when he had the chance. Flik has a damn strong team, assuming Michael Bennett doesn't have carries stolen by Smith and Williams. Nice draft.
Guest Soylent Green Is People Report post Posted July 19, 2004 Presented by BankOne: QB: Brad Johnson RB: Edgerrin James, Corey Dillon WR: Derrick Mason, Peerless Price, Plaxico Burress TE: Desmond Clark K: Aaron Elling DEF: Tennessee Bench QB: Tommy Maddox RB: TJ Ducket, William Green WR: Rashaun Woods I'm not really sure about this team. The QB spot will be solid if unspectacular, but my backup choice of Maddox is a bit of a wasted pick seeing he may not even have the starting job too long. Running Back could either be a strength or a disaster, if all four stay healthy, start and perform i should have a very good squad, however Edge is an injury risk and hasn't returned to his best since missing time with injury, who knows how Dillon will fit in with the Patriots, Ducket will be splitting time with Dunn and Crackhead Willie may not even play a game, so things are up in the air about this one. Kicker and Defence should both be good, if Clark can get a handful of points every week i'll be happy with the TE position, and as for WR if Price and Burress can bounce back from dissapointing years last season i should be looking pretty good here as well. "If's" like that rarely seem to work in my favor when it comes to fantasy however.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 (edited) I'm dropping Brown and Taylor though. I need to beef up at least my RB position (as in provide a suitable replacement for bye weeks). And really, with the rest of my WRs, I'm not going to be able to put in Taylor (who will probably lose catches) and pick up something more needed. Well, I know at least that Brown is gone. I like the fact that my team is well-balanced all around and will probably carry me to a good 8 of 14. Problem is though, that my team's weakness is I'm not strong in any category so if someone screws up, I could lose games I really should win. Actually, I really like my first 8 weeks as I can take 6 of 8 if my team comes out and shines. As I've got 5 teams that lose a starting player via bye week (2, 3, 6, 7, 8), I like my first week match up, week 4 I have one bye player against Foreign Objects but could go my way as well, and I don't terribly like my match up against Randy Orton on week 5. If I go 6 of 8 in the first 8 weeks, I just need 2 or 3 of the last 6 games to make the playoffs. My biggest concerns is those final 6 though, as I face Agent Bond34 with no Green or Favre, the following week I face Presented By BankOne with no Chambers or Smith, week 11 I face Darkside Dominators which will probably be one of my wins (assuming nothing goes wrong), week 12 against Gotham Harlequinns will be a close one as Trent's taking on SD and Favre's got StL, week 13 will probably be yet another win since I've got favorable pickings against Michaels Mark, but week 14 will be a one that could go either way against Serenity yet I like my chances. Anything less than 8-6 is a failure for my team. I should make top 8 (probably 8th directly). Edited July 19, 2004 by Lightning Flik
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 I feel sorry for Agent Bond34. If Marshall retires, he's pretty much fucked at RB. ...figures that right after the draft, something like that happens. I honestly had no idea that Marshall Faulk retirement rumors were floating about, had I known that, I would've gone with somebody else at that pick.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 Here is my team as of today..... QB: Donovan McNabb WR L. Coles WR: A. Toomer RB: C. Portis RB: A. Thomas TE: B. Franks WR/TE: J. Rice K: R. Longwell DEF: Seattle Bench: K: M. Gramatic RB: C. Buckhalter QB: M. Bulger WR: R. Proehl I have concerns with Running back besides Clinton Portis. Anthony Thomas wasn't horrible last year, but I dunno if that had to do more with being the only decent offensive player on the team(besides Booker). For my WR's. Coles is a great yardage guy, but I a little concered with TDs, which is why I picked up Toomer, because he is basically THE GUY on the Giants. And of course Jerry Rice, he is such a great route runner which usually leads to TD production. Rest of the team isn't bad or spectacular. I am sure I will get some usage from the waiver wire throughout the season.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 Kellen Winslow is this years Jermany Shockey.......all hype and no TDs. Yeah, but as a rookie, he's already Cleveland's best reciever so hopefully he gets thrown to a lot.

Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 question: If I started an auction league, would anyone be interested? I would be, but I've never done an auction league before. Can you please give me a brief descrip or synopsis of the rules and how it works?
razazteca 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 Auction as in players have money value and salary cap? I'm in if it is free.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted July 19, 2004 ok, here are the "rules" of this league which may or may not happen. - everybody takes turns nominating a player - teams bid on the player and whoever bids the most gets him - you have a cap of X dollars to spend. - if you run out of cash you have to fill the rest of the team with the $1 scrubs no one else wants. I've never done one either, so I assure you it will be quite painful for everyone. We can do it on Yahoo but we'd have to do the actual auction ourselves. I imagine you could Google up some suggested values for guys from the usual "experts".

jimmy no nose 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 I totally forgot the Yahoo Draft and ended up having the number one pick. Good thing I remembered to do my prerankings on Saturday just in case. My team turned out pretty good, actually the best in the league based on those numbers, but it probably won't turn out as good. Because I didn't show up I ended up with 3 of the top 15 tight ends, though which is weird. My roster is: QB-Aaron Brooks WR-Chad Johnson WR-Joey Galloway RB-Priest Holmes RB-Eddie George TE-Tony Gonzalez WR/TE-Jeremy Shockey K-Matt Stover DEF-Kansas City BENCH Drew Bennett(WR) Willis McGahee(RB) Marcus Pollard(TE) New Orleans(DEF) The problems are Running back where Priest Holmes will get big points every week, but Eddie George is totally up in the air as to how much he will play this year. There's a chance McGahee will see some carries this year, but that isnt for sure either. I'd like to get a back up QB too. Being last in waiver priority doesn't help too much either. If anyone is looking for a tight end put in an offer. Team name-Foreign Objects

Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted July 20, 2004 ok, I MAY have found a program that would run an auction. The good news is it's free and it would be a hell of a lot faster than me writing down everything. The bad news is it's a beta, and you have to give them your e-mail to use it. I'll check it out some more first.
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2004 An interesting way of looking at your team would be to take your players and divide their fantasy points by the number of games they played to see what their average would be if you started them. QB's Jake Plummer: 16.34 PPG(11) Trent Green: 16.99 PPG(16) RB's Shaun Alexander: 16.31 PPG(16) Kevin Jones: Rookie Quentin Griffin: 3.46 PPG(10) WR's Joey Porter: 4.11 PPG(10) Jimmy Smith: 8.54 PPG(12) Bethel Johnson: 5.34 PPG(15) **EDIT: Picked up Bobby Engram(Seattle's #3 and 7.03 PPG) and put Johnson in the FA market. Engram had 6 TD catches last year and 600+ receiving yards while also looking to be the team's punt returner. Looks to be more productive for me then Johnson.** TE's Dallas Clark: 4.00 PPG(10) Jim Kleinsasser: 4.10 PPG(16) K's Jason Elam: 8.31 PPG(16) DEF's Atlanta: 14.26 PPG(16) Detroit: 15.38 PPG(16) - Looking at this, Green and Plummer both look like solid QB choices. Alexander's a stud RB. My WR's = big concern though as I originally thought, aside from Smith who could get his PPG up to 10 or so if he stays healthy. Defenses both look very solid and Elam looks to be a good bet for anywhere from 6-10 points any given week.

If you notice, 3 of my starters didn't play a full season, yet still got respectable numbers that should mean that if they actually perform up to what I think they can, I'm going to have a pretty damn fine team. 8 wins or my team's a bust for sure. Oh and HarleyQuinn, if you'd like a WR of mine, I'm willing to deal you one.
