What to Expect at Summerslam

What to expect at Summerslam....

It is still expected that the top Smackdown matches for Summerslam will be John Bradshaw Layfield vs. The Undertaker for the WWE Title and Kurt Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero. Word is that WWE views Bradshaw as a long term champion and that he could keep the WWE Title past Summerslam.

As for RAW, a Chris Benoit vs. Triple H World Title match seems likely, possibly with Eugene as the special ref. A Edge vs. Randy Orton rematch for the Intercontinental Title is also an option.

Bradshaw is a long term champion?

I, for one, don't want to see an Edge vs. Orton rematch. Edge should have never won the title in the first place and we need fresh matchups for one of the biggest PPV's of the year.

The last person I want to see when I attend SummerSlam this year is JBL, especially with the WWE title around his waist.

Wow, if that is Summerslam it sounds really bad.

Angle vs Eddie at one time would be awesome, but the injuries have caught up with Kurt and I'm not sure that'll work out well.

We need to add a ladder match, that'll get Dave excited.

Funny, they said that about Eddie, too.

Bradshaw as champion throughout the rest of the summer is going to be as painful to watch as JOEY.

I wonder why the hell they would think JBL would be a great long term champion when house show attendance is at an all-time low and everything about SD is considered second-rate.

Oh wait, Vince sees some of himself in Bradshaw. That justifies it...

I was planning to order SS after skipping Judgment Day, BB, GAB, and Vengeance, but if that's their top matches, i may just skip this one, too. I've had enough of Eugene in the main event (he's become so damn overexposed), and I didn't care enough about Edge vs. Orton the first time to order then. Eddie vs. Angle intigues me, but I don't watch SD anymore so it's going to be hard to get hyped up about that match.

Nonononono. Edge vs. Orton was done last month and it shouldn't be expected that they can do anything more than that.

Why not Edge vs. Batista instead? They had a good match on RAW, and it would free up Orton, because Orton vs. Jericho is where the $$$ is. I'd like to see a Orton vs. Jericho Streetfight somewhere down the line.

As for JBL being a long-term champion, did ANYBODY see Diesel's reign?

According to attendance and ratings for that time....No.

Remember a few months ago when all the news reports said Benoit was a transistional champ and would only have the belt like a month, and Eddie was the one out of the two who would stay in the main event, while Benoit would be demoted and it was just a show of respect for him to get the belt, etc. etc. But now Benoit is going to have a longer first reign in the WWE than Eddie? It does help Eddie out that Smackdown is so low on main eventers that Eddie is one of the few to turn too, whereas on Raw you've got many guys who can headline a show, and several who could with a decent shorterm push or program--like Batista. Still, I see Eddie getting the belt back at Survivor Series most likely.

After making last year's Summerslam suck, I thought it was just going to be one bad one after a string of great ones.

Oh well...Angle/Eddy should be good and Raw should be able to produce some strong matches for the PPV.

Taker and JBL I don't see meshing well, but even if JBL doesn't lose the title Taker's going to make him look like a total bitch.

This is b.s. Storywise, Angle should have the match with Cena, not with Eddie. Even though Angle's screwed both of them, it's Cene that has the biggest axe to grind with Kurt. Have the three way match with JBL, UT and Eddie and have Angel vs. Cena. That way, Angle can have a good match at his own pace and not feel pressured about having to keep up with Eddie. -_-

But what you are proposing actually makes sense, which is something that WWE writers do not have.

I don't think it sounds that bad, at least it's not a triple threat match between Eugene, HHH, and Benoit and hopefully Randy Orton will regain his belt because honestly he's not much without it plus there will probaly also be Rhyno/Tajrri (sp)

and hopefully Jericho/Christian and yeah it sucks that there will be nothing for Batista but whatever he's the enforcer.

As for Smackdown, Angle/Eddie could be the MOTN and hopefully Undertaker no-sells a lot but perhaps they could bring back TLC with London/Kidman, The Dudleys and the Bashems or better yet Gun/Holly which would probally put them both on the shelf plus there is a slight chance for Knoble/Mysterio.

All in all not amazing, but there should be some good matches.

Does the WWE even ponder that the fans may want to know why Triple H keeps getting rematches with Benoit for the title? I mean after 3 chances and failed attempts, Benoit should rightfully be moving onto something else......

As far as Smackdown, well yeah it's Smackdown, and Bradshaw as a long term champ would help explain the long term low ratings for Smackdown.

Scherer at PWInsider said that no one in the lockeroon actually believes Undertaker will put over JBL at Summerslam. He might job to him, but won't put him over. I thought UT and JBL were friends?

The Tajiri/Rhyno tag team could be a lot more fun if WWE gave a crap about them. They are one of the more refreshing things to watch on Raw, hell even if they split up and started a feud(which is *SO* WWE-core) it would still be fun, a little mid-card feud that means nothing, except good, entertaining matches.

Eddy can't wrestle at Angle's pace or allow Angle to pace the match?

I don't see what good an Angle/Cena program would do. Last year Angle won the blow-off rather decisively. Cena lost some momentum although he quickly bounced back.

Angle would gain nothing from a Cena win and Cena would basically need to win to even out the score. If Angle loses to Cena it would be illogical to move into the WWE Title hunt. If Angle wins he might need to hold onto and defend the U.S. Title, but there aren't any competitors on his level aside from Cena. Would they trade it back and forth until one "stepped up" to the big picture?

Besides, if Angle can stay healthy the main event picture is the best place to put him for now.

Obviously there are advantages and disadvantages either way, but continuing the feud with Eddy would seem the most logical thing to do, and put Angle directly where SD needs him to be.

The same could be said about HBK's title shots.

spot > friendship

If you were Taker, would you job to Bradshaw clean and make him look like a million bucks?

Bradshaw's a heel anyway, plus he's not exactly helping buyrates and ratings, so he's hardly some one Taker would probably consider tarnishing his stature on.

Taker supposedly likes A-Train but that didn't stop him from making him his bitch at WMXIX.

"Big Dave" needs to just come out wearing a suit, tie & yellow sunglasses and hit the "Bizzle Bomb" on Ric Flair. That would make SummerSlam worth watching & owning.

Eddie/Angle wasn't exactly mind-blowing at Mania XX. Unless they learn from their mistakes and make this match more like the Eddie/JBL matches (i.e, make it look like they actually hate each other) then it could be the great match we expected in March.
