B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2004 Ok, so the area in which I live is notorious for being overrun with rednecks, I've come to accept this fact. But every year, there's this HUGE country music festival known as Jamboree in the Hills. It's the largest country music festival in America. This year, the pizza place at which I work had a booth out at one of the campsites, which I thought might be cool. It was...for about 3 hours. After that, the hatred began to boil. Shirtless, farmer's tanned men overran the area wearing 10 gallon hats shouting the phrase "Get 'er done!" while proclaiming how there had "better not be no niggers around" and trying to pick fights. The other vendors near my booth were no better. One toothless man had a booth set up with nothing but Rebel flag and other various Redneck, kiss-your-sister style memorablilia, including a t-shirt with a picture of a Klansman driving a prison bus that read "Here Comes The Judge", which was simply the worst thing I've ever seen. Then there was a walk through another campground with my friends Mary and Sarah, when we saw a guy chucking beer cans at various people shouting "You're nothing but fucking nigger pussies, everyone of you! Fuck niggers!" I had thought that The Valley had modernized PAST the Civil War, but I guess I was wrong. the only upside to the week was that I was able to trade pizzas for beer, which eased the anger I had towards these fucking worthless people. Some of us are quite charming taken one at time, to quote Carlin. Maybe that was because of the amazing body, but I digress. The only place in the south I have ever been to was Kentucky, and I heard just as much rap pounding out of cars then I do around suburban Philly. Seriously though I live in the midwest but for some reason am lumped in with the south and all of there rednecks(god dammit oklahoma doesn't have rednecks! we have guys that think they're cowboys! there is a difference!)and I've gotten to the point where I just ignore it. I've never thought of Oklahoma as being in the Midwest...Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa, and Ohio have always been my definition of the Midwest. I know about their leader in Indiana being tried for the rape and murder of a woman and having mistrial declared twice, I belive. Of course, then he got thrown in jail. As evil and hate0filled as they are, everytime I see a KKK special or higlights of a Klan rally on tv, I HAVE to watch. They're so hilarious in their stupidity. I watched a special on The History Channel once, and during a cross-burning ceremony, the following was actually uttered: "We're fighting for the white man. But then I just remember one thing about this place, they name alot of stuff after the civil war and people involved with it. They lost that war and they act like its something to be proud of.
