Vyce 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Looks pretty good, although I'd have definitely switched the Daniels match with the Brown match.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Daniels vs Kazarian is the dark match??? What is that crap? Have they been able to sign Daniels to a full deal yet? Cause he'd be a better main eventer than Brown. Nothing against Brown, he just needs more work. Team Canada though just rules.
Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 They gotta stop booking squashes on Impact. And give their wrestlers some actual REAL matches. Have AJ put his X-Division title on the line once and a while, so that they can go out there and tell a good 15-20 minute match. And horrors if Jeff Jarrett would actually have a MATCH on Impact, being the champ and all.... gee, wouldn't want that....
Phoenix Fury Legdrop 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Actually, he did...just noticed that he beat Shark Boy in the main event. Then, Jeff Hardy ran in to close the show.
Guest Donners Report post Posted July 23, 2004 That actually looks to be a better use of the indi guys than most predicted in the other thread. The main focus was on the regulars, and though there was perhaps one too many squash matches there, people like Kid Romeo and Jerelle Clark are good enough to show quite a lot even from limited chances. TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Jeff Jarrett d. Shark Boy You know what, I'll never complain about Jarrett not wrestling on IMPACT again. [/sarcasm]
AmazingRen 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!! Even though there are two squash matches the opponents are known (Sharkboy and Kid Romeo) which makes them both watchable. I can't believe Jeff Hardy was on Impact!. I wonder what kind of reaction he got. I also wonder did they continue the Abyss being jealous storyline with Alex Shelley. I never heard of Jerrelle Clark is he any good? The only bad thing is I have to wait until Saturday to see it.
Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Ok, he edited the Jarrett vs. Shark Boy match. Now, is that the Dark Match they hold afterwards, or not? Cuz, didn't they drop the post show dark match?
slimm44 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Match of the year, lol JJ vs. Shark Boy in Jarrett's Impact! wrestling debut!
Guest Coffey Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Impact sounds, well, less than stellar. I'll watch regardless though. Shark Boy Vs. Jeff Jarrett main event? I guess it could be fun to watch. Shark Boy can be entertaining, and if he's making Jarrett look like a clown, that'll be enjoyable. I could do without ANOTHER "Alpha Male" squash match, but hey, at least we'll get to see the POOOOOOOOUNCE~! again, right!? Daniels/Kazarian seems like it has the potential to be the best match, and it didn't even make Impact! Damnit! I don't know anything about this Clark cat, but I'm assuming he's at least passable in the ring, and we know what AJ is capable of, so it could be OK too. I hate Team Mexico, but I like Abyss. I suppose the match will be used to further the tension between Shelley & Abyss. Raven's finally on Impact? I'll allow it! It's about damn time. EDIT: Whoa, that Team Canada match should be GREAT too....
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 The Kazarian/Daniels match wouldn't make the air because both men have to look strong going into Wednesday. If you had Kazarian win thanks to interference from Shane, which brought out Skipper to make the save, then TNA would be stuck booking a tag match for the next week. And if there was a DQ ending, much of the same would be expected.
Guest 5.0Fanatic Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Trust me, Jerrelle Clark won't dissapoint, if given time he and AJ would have a awesome match
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Jeff Hardy is already going to end up feuding with Double J? Bad move. Make sure he is balanced and stable before doing that. Hot shotting him isn't going to help.
Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Trust me, Jerrelle Clark won't dissapoint, if given time he and AJ would have a awesome match If it weren't gonna be a squash or near-squash, I'd agree with that.
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Dark Matches: Elite Guard d. Rod & Bruce Steel and Lex Lovett Christopher Daniels d. Frankie Kazarian Sabu d. Mikey Tenderfoot I have no clue why they would put Kazarian/Daniels as the dark match. On another point.....GET RID OF THE ELITE GUARD. They don't even use them half the time and they are more showpiece than they are in ring wrestlers. Impact: AJ Styles d. Jerrelle Clark Abyss & Alex Shelley d. Abismo Negro & Mr. Aguila Monty Brown d. Antonio Banks Team Canada d. Amazing Red, Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt, & Mikey Batts Raven d. Kid Romeo. After the match, Sabu and Raven had a pull-apart. Jeff Jarrett d. Shark Boy. Post-match, Jarrett, Jeff Hardy, and Monty Brown brawled to end the show. UGH. AJ and Jerelle Clark is probably a squash....which is kind of pointless. I am curious to see if they let Clark fly though. After this past weeks PPV, I HATE and have totally given up on anything that Abismo Negro and Aguila can do. They are TERRIBLE and I mean they are on the level of some of the worst workers in the company. Abyss and Shelley on the other hand are a wonderful brightspot for the company IMO. Goldy needs to go though. Especially, if she is there just to build up the Abyss jealousy storyline. Monty Brown in a squash match is stupid and shouldn't even be on the show. They need Brown to get in there with experienced workers that people would actually buy into Brown being a bad ass. Him beating jobbers does nothing but show his own greeness. Kid Romeo is back and fighting Raven....yeaaaaa. Basically a squash for Raven.....hopefully. Also the main event is atrocious. Jarrett books himself against a comedy act.....real good idea there guys. I can't stress enough how I hate the whole JJ/Jeff/Monte Brown angle and I really have absolutely no interest in the feud. This will actually make it so I DON'T watch the PPV if that is all TNA has to offer me.
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 People complain when Jarrett doesn't wrestle on Impact. They complain when he wrestles a comedy act on Impact so he can get a (relatively) clean win. They'd complain if he got a cheating win over a guy like Pat Kenney in the main event because he'd be "killing his heat" or something to that extent. And in the rare event that they'd give away a Jarrett/Killings match on Impact, it'd either end in a cheap win for Jarrett, a DQ, time limit, or no contest, which would result in complains. I rarely hate on smarks, but that's a situation where you're never satisfied. About other stuff. At the very least, Negro and Aguila are being used as jobbers. It'll be nice to see Kid Romeo again. Maybe he'll bring the glowsticks. And as for Kazarian/Daniels match, see above.

I dread --- yes, dread --- the JJ v Hardy matches that we will be subjected to. -=Mike

I rarely hate on smarks, but that's a situation where you're never satisfied. Now....my apologies if you weren't talking about me. I NEVER complain if JJ doesn't wrestling on IMPACT because if Jarrett has the title he doesn't need to be familiarized with the "new fans". Plus, JJ has fought in WWF/WWE/WCW as well and has been around for years......so him fighting on IMPACT is generally just to further push himself in front of others who need the help. Also, I wouldn't complain if JJ beat Kenney in any cheating way......JJ is a heel....that's what he should be doing. It wouldn't kill his heat.....it would add to it......but only if people gave a damn about Kenney. Which they don't. Of course anytime there is a ME match of the caliber of Killings/JJ then it would perfectly normal for them to fight to a DQ, time limit, or no contest.....it's on free TV......if they knew how to do good business........but they don't. Plus, if TNA can't put on shows greater than your favorite promotion(mine for instance is Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan) then why SHOULD you be satisfied? Guest whitemilesdavis Report post Posted July 23, 2004 I'm just depressed because Impact is starting to look like crap every week, not to mention the PPV's. it's starting to look like any third rate indy promotion. Sure, you've got a couple of guys you know on the show, but then the rest is filled out with nameless locals. I know they are trying to sell the PPV, but this is just another reason why the weekly PPV doesn't work. Impact really needs to be booked as an A show to garner TNA any positive attention, but they can't do that, because they can't give away PPV material. I'm not even going to the trouble of taping this week.
Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 I don't know about the rest of Impact yet..of course..but that first match was awesome. EVen though it wasn't that long. The two hit some nice spots...and that throw into the turnbuckle looked nasty. As well as the 'Tiger Suplex' into the styles Clash...so that gets a high rating from me. starvenger 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Team Canada though just rules. Yes, they do, but Petey Williams "Canadian Destroyer" finisher looks both cool and incredibly fake at the same time. It's about as believable as Killings axe kick looking vicious. And speaking of which, even though he's one of the stars of the promotion, I won't complain about the lack of Killings on my TV. More AJ Styles + Less Killings = OK in my book. Tiger Suplex into a Styles Clash? Is that even possible? Hopefully my VCR actually works today...
Astro101 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2004 Decent show. But as always, it could be better. The Ultimate X in the 6 sided ring looks pretty cool though.

It's about as believable as Killings axe kick looking vicious. Yeah, but a finisher is basically meant to just pop a crowd right? Well, that move pops a crowd even though it looks fake as hell. Fake as hell sure, but damn awesome to see. I had to stop and rewind four times seeing that move for the first time. It's like "how the hell..." and that is exactly what you want for a finisher. Guest Donners Report post Posted July 24, 2004 Surprised the potential Abyss/Shelley feud didn't get much of a mention. If he's as good as some say, the matches could be on a par with Abyss/Styles, which is a very good thing.
Just John 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 The show was decent this week. I liked the AJ/Jerrelle match, even though it was short. Also, get Monty Brown a new finisher. How is the "pounce" supposed to hurt anymore than a shoulder block? Slightly off topic, but going on with the Brown theme... Why does every football player turned wreslter have to use some form of tackle as a regular spot or finisher?
Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2004 How is the "pounce" supposed to hurt anymore than a shoulder block? Well the sheer reptitiveness of everyone saying how the Pounce is nothing more then a shoulder block that won't hurt, will put all his opponents to sleep and will in turn allow him the easy win.
