Guest MikeSC Report post Posted October 30, 2004 Here's something I wouldn't mind seeing: Now that's pretty damn interesting. It's possible, though not probable, that this would result in a Bush/Edwards White House. Nah, it'd simply be four more years of Bush/Cheney. -=Mike ...Bush will win 52% of the vote, at least. He'll get 300 EV at least...

If they have a majority, why would they choose Edwards? Hell, even if it was a 50-50 split, Cheney is the deciding vote, and fat chance he's going to vote against himself. How is that scenario even possible? BTW, I agree with Mike that Bush will win but I'm not as optimistic on the vote totals. I think it'll be 51% popular and somewhere in the 280s electoral. KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2004 Just wondering what's allowed come Tuesday in terms of election thread? Can we have individual state threads, or does it have to be General Election talk, Swing State talk, official EC thread, and other races being held that night. We're just going to padlock the door of CE and put the results on pay-per-view. Only $49.95!!!! Seriously, I'd recommend one thread for the Presidential election, and if someone wants to discuss a state election (Senate, House, mayoral, state propositions, etc.), they can start a separate thread. But I think just locking the door and mopping up the blood in the morning would be the best course for everyone. Besides, we already bought some nice mops. Whoa.....after looking at that link, I'd have to say that for those predicting a Bush win, Coulter & Kristol are ridiculously optimistic; for those predicting a Kerry win, Donna Brazil and Kojo are also exceptionally ridiculous in terms of by how much they expect their candidate to win. I think your prediction is probably very close to what will actually happen, Slapnuts. We haven't mentioned the Congressional races that much, I think. I personally see the Republicans probably gaining a couple seats (but certainly maintaining no less than the majority they now have) in the Senate, and I see them picking up a few House seats as well, to ensure that even if Kerry somehow wins he's rendered good and impotent right from the start......and unlike Clinton, he won't have the charisma or force of personality to do anything about it. jesse_ewiak 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2004 Meh. It's a prediction. I could be totally wrong or right. I'm not saying that's what will happen, it's just my current feeling. At least I haven't been saying the race is over since August. Yeah, I don't want eight weeks of lawsuits and counter lawsuits. Whoever wins, I hope wins by at least a few percentage points and by a healthy margin in the EC.

Guest BDC Report post Posted October 31, 2004 BDC, Bunning's numbers have been down since his odd behavior of late, which has people thinking upset. I personally think he'll win easily, but a lot of people have their sights set on taking him out. Teke, let me fill you in a bit. I've got insight that very few in the state have. Mongiardo is from my hometown. I worked for Bunning. People know who Bunning is and they don't know who Mongiardo is. That's the first key. The second is that "Dr. Dan" has really REALLY gone the extra mile to piss people off and third, he has absolutely NO notoriety outside of his home area. People are deadset on hitting Bunning just because he's a Republican. That's all. As for Bunning's condition, it'd have to be present for the past few years. He's exhibited no change in his personal behavior when or since I worked for him and met him. Some of the things he's done, I admit, have even me baffled, but they won't cost him this election. Guest MikeSC Report post Posted October 31, 2004 I'm loving watching the Kerry campaign melt down. He had his stepson give a speech and the kid was an unmitigated douche. Bush is a cokehead? He can't prove it, though, because Bush didn't sell him anything. Bush treats Israel like our 51st state. Bush is the enemy. Well, his father was a Republican who supported Israel. So, I wonder what person could have instilled these winning views in the young dork. It was stated before and I'll say it again --- if you have any affection for Israel, you cannot vote for Kerry. -=Mike

EDIT: N/m, NYPost: October 31, 2004 -- THIS campaign is ending just in time before someone gets hurt. John Kerry's stepson, Chris Heinz, 31, displayed his mother Teresa's famous lack of rhetorical restraint at a recent campaign event with a group of Wharton students. Philadelphia magazine reports: "Heinz accused Kerry's opponents - 'our enemies' - of making the race dirty. 'We didn't start out with negative ads calling George Bush a cokehead,' he said, before adding, 'I'll do it now.' Asked later about it, Heinz said, 'I have no evidence. He never sold me anything.'" Heinz also reminded writer Sasha Issenberg of Pat Buchanan by saying, "One of the things I've noticed is the Israel lobby - the treatment of Israel as the 51st state, sort of a swing state." Buchanan was blasted as an anti-Semite years ago when he cited Israel's "amen corner" in Congress. Does this family all have turrets or something? Imagine if Teresa married Howard Dean, the absurdities would never stop!
