Guest cellardoor Report post Posted July 28, 2004 Teaser trailer! My God, this is going to be awesome! I never doubted Nolan for a second on any of this, but I think it's going to end up being even better than I predicted. Wow, just wow, kid. My whole body flared up with goosebumps. CAN WE SAY NERD? Guest JMA Report post Posted July 29, 2004 My God, this is like a comic book fan's wet dream. I bow to Nolan's skills.
Guest JMA Report post Posted July 29, 2004 Wow, that costume looks great. It looks both durable AND lightweight. It's almost like a modernized version of the Year One costume. I don't see Year One. I like it, but I think it still owes a ton to Burton's costume... mixed with some kind of Sam Fisher spy suit. But if you notice... it's not the YO belt with pouches. This belt is from the Silver Age with the high tech capsules. I like that, the belts before didn't really have ANYTHING on them. Perhaps it's some type of amalgam of Batman costumes. I'm guessing the second costume will be used sometime later in the movie. I agree with you on the belt thing. The Utility Belt is a very important part of the Batman mythos and should be used more. Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2004 every single update on the movie makes me want to see it more and more WHY can't the movie be done now?! Stupid WB and their taking to long to figure out how to make the movie kick ass
Vyce 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2004 I saw the trailer and I must say....... what the HELL are you people so excited about? I'm the biggest fucking Batman mark on the planet, but that trailer didn't send "chills up my spine" or anything like that. It was a nice littler trailer, but nothing really remarkable. When there's a trailer of Bale in action as Batman, maybe that will be something to get one's rocks off too, but not with this.
TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2004 what the HELL are you people so excited about? A Batman movie that isn't drawing inspiration from the 60's TV show. I'd kill for anything after the Shumacher debaucheries.

Extremely well done visually 2. Dark 3. Dark. 4. Dark 5. Well Acted 6. Actually reflective of the core of the CHARACTER, and not just a movie where a guy dressed like a bat has a bunch of cheesy one liners and does bad martial arts. That's why its so exciting. After Schumacher, even glimpses of a serious bat-film are enough to get one excited.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2004 The only thing that could've made the trailer better was a big "R" rating at the end followed by "For graphic violence". If they're making it dark it sure as shit better bring the death. I'm stoked.

But that TRAILER was absolutely NOTHING to gush on about. I don't understand the hard-ons for that trailer. It was a small little preview. Cool for that purpose, but "OMG IGOTCHILLZ!!!11" is a bit much of a reaction to it.

Big McLargeHuge 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2004 I agree with Vyce. I saw the trailer and thought "Cool", but I'm not taking off my pants in excitement over it. The way you guys are gushing over it, you'd think there hadn't been a Batman movie before. And, I'm not digging the costume. The ears are too short for my liking and makes the mask look awkward. I was kinda hoping for a quasi-spandex Alex Ross influenced suit. Like the suit in Batman: Dead End. It'd make sense to me since it would be Bruce's first go at a suit. Guest SP-1 Report post Posted July 29, 2004 I understand what you're saying, Vyce. It's difficult to properly explain why it's so awesome. I think for most of us the abortion that was BATMAN AND ROBIN is still a little fresh in our heads. It's almost like this movie slipped through the cracks at WB somehow. I think WB's President was taking a crap when this one passed by his desk so he missed it somehow. I suppose that we've all been rather afraid that the next one would actually have Adam West and Burt Ward reprising their roles that just seeing that it's actually being done properly is uber exciting. *shrugs*

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2004 Was that "Batman" or "Exorcist: Beginnings" trailer? Looks interesting but there is no way that this movie should be below an R to release a trailer like that.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2004 What was there in the trailer that would make it seem like a R Rated movie?
Guest JMA Report post Posted July 29, 2004 Dark movies don't ALWAYS have to have an R-rating. That's a big misconception.
Vyce 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2004 There's no way this movie winds up being rated R. They're not going to willingly exclude the under 17 demographic, not even for the sake of art - there's too much money to be made on this. It'll be PG-13, but a hard PG-13 (this might be one of those instances where the studio cuts some sort of deal with the MPAA to give the film a lower rating than it probably deserves). Well, there hasn't been a GOOD Batman movie before, does that count? Batman Returns was good. And what about "Mask of the Phantasm"? calling Batman Returns "good" would be a bit of a stretch. Mask of the Phantasm was good, but for purposes of this particular argument I'm ignoring the animated STV/TV movies. 60's Movie: Sucked Batman: Jack Nicolson, not much else Batman Returns: Catwoman and Christopher Walken, not much else Batman Forever: Sucked Batman and Robin: Batman and Robin
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted July 30, 2004 BATMAN FOREVER was the start of the franchise's decline. BATMAN and RETURNS were pretty good, IMO. I never had a problem with Keaton. FOREVER had its points, however. The whole psychological angle with Bruce was interesting and done pretty well. Riddler was handled ok. Two-Face was mediocre and out of character in ways I can't ignore. Of course, Batman has killed in them all so they ignored a major part of his character. PHANTASM is the only one to really maintain the character's most important traits.
