Guest Leon Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 He reminds me of a young, brash, somewhat unpolished Shawn Michaels from his Rockers days. I really believe that with the right gimmick and direction, this guy can be a bonafide star. He's got much more charisma than his partner, Kidman, too, as evidenced by his backstage promos. He's got a certain calmness about his demeanor that lies beneath his exuberance in the ring. He can really go a long way, as long as WWE taps into it...
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 as long as WWE taps into it... They won't.
Epic Reine Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 1)He won't be WWE champion, 2) He shouldn't be, 3)He won't be. End of discussion.
Guest Leon Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 He shouldn't be? Ok, well, granted, maybe not NOW, but in 3-4 years, with the right evolution of his character, there is no reason why he can't develop into something special, especially when you consider he seems like a down-to-earth guy with a good head on his shoulders...
natey2k4 Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 I agree with you 100%... Especially about WWE Buying into him. London is one of the best wrestlers today.. He can Brawl, wrestling Technically, High Fly, Tell a good Story.. he's great. But the only way WWE is going to buy into him is if he gets a huge fanbase.. which I hope happens. The Next Big Thing really is Randy Orton. But if WWE was smart.. they would be biling Charlie Haas one of the future greats.. instead of making him job out all the time. Damn them.
Guest W_Hillard Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 1)He won't be WWE champion, 2) He shouldn't be, 3)He won't be. End of discussion. *coughBRADSHAWcough*
Guest Trivia247 Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 1)He won't be WWE champion, 2) He shouldn't be, 3)He won't be. End of discussion. Same was said of Bradshaw and Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit... SO NO not end of discussion, anything can happen obviously.
natey2k4 Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 1)He won't be WWE champion, 2) He shouldn't be, 3)He won't be. End of discussion. See.. It's people like you that give us champions like JBL and Taker and So On... Your S/N is CBenoit.. but a blind man could see his talent.. London is amazing, and damn... if your not going to support him.. I'd hate to see the business you ran.
Epic Reine Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Should Bradshaw have been? Nope. Should Eddy? Yes. Should Benoit? Yes. Should Paul London? No. Thats WHY its end of discussion.
CanadianChick Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 He'll be fine. He's a Micheal's student, right? I doubt he'll get 'helddown' in years to come. He's got connections. I can't comment on the Next Big Thing comment, since I've never seen a promo of his. If he can cut a good one, I'd agree. I like his ringwork, and he has good in-ring charisma.
natey2k4 Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Are you retarded?! Explain your damn reasons why London should not be Champ.
Epic Reine Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Let's see, 1) He's smaller than even HBK was, 2) He can't cut a promo like HBK, 3) he's not during a time period where there was a steroid scandal so Vince felt like pushing a lighter guy...
Guest Leon Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Ahem. Eddie Guerrero is 5' 7" Chris Jericho is 5' 10" Chris Benoit is 5' 10" Kurt Angle is 5' 9" The above guys aren't being pushed, right?
CanadianChick Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 I haven't seen any evidence that London can pull off a great promo, but I haven't seen anything that convinces me he can't either. It'll like judging a guy's drawing abilities when he's never had an oppertunity to. And I can why being small would be a reason why he wouldn't necessarly get pushed, but I don't see it as a reason why he doesn't deserve to be champion.
Epic Reine Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Jericho aint pushed anymore, and he wore stilts to be 6'0. Angle had drawing credentials prior, [Olympic Gold Medalist], Eddy connects to the Latino market. I dunno why Vince pushed Benoit, I guess for his loyalty and internet, because he hasn't changed buyrates or anything.
natey2k4 Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Gimme a break... First of all, London can cut great promos. Watch ROH, his voice is easy on the ears. Seconds of all, Paul London was trained by Michaels.. he has connections. Dunno if he wants it that way.. but he's going to get a fair shot with the company cuz of Shawn. Third, There's lotsa small Champs nowadays. Jericho, Angle, Benoit, Guerrero..
natey2k4 Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Jericho aint pushed anymore, and he wore stilts to be 6'0. Angle had drawing credentials prior, [Olympic Gold Medalist], Eddy connects to the Latino market. I dunno why Vince pushed Benoit, I guess for his loyalty and internet, because he hasn't changed buyrates or anything. Wow.. I really dislike this guy already.. He's points are absolute shit. if Guerrero got pushed for the Latino Market, then how come you didnt say Jericho got pushed for the Canadian Market.
Epic Reine Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Seeing as how theirs a GROWING Latino Market, and you can tell Vince has tried to gain their viewership, I can see that over Jericho. Whats there to gain in going out of your way to a Canadian market? The fans you'll get, are pretty much already there.
griffinmills Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Jericho aint pushed anymore, and he wore stilts to be 6'0... Stilts... Stilts? Stilts?! I could see Lifts or Heels but.... stilts?! Couple that with your "I say so" arguments and I really hope London someday becomes champ just to cheese you off. I like the current SD! champs and can see how folks pick London as the Shawn Michaels to Kidman's Marty Jannetty. It is funny to see how they, one booking decision later, can take 10 times more punishment and actually defeat the champs though.
Epic Reine Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Lifts, heels, stilts, whatever you want to call it, he added them to make him 6'0.
SamoaRowe Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Paul London gave a nice rambling "thank you" interview at Ring of Honor's Death Before Dishonor show. It was kind of embarassing, but he got on the mic after his last match with the company and displayed some natural charisma. The guy has potential and he's fantastic in the ring.
Guest Set Free Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 I really don't know how he could ever be over enough to win the title. David Arquette is probably bigger.
bob_barron Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Paul London was NOT trained by Shawn Michaels. He was trained by Rudy Boy Gonzalez at the TWA school which used to be owned by Shawn Michaels.
AndrewTS Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Paul London was NOT trained by Shawn Michaels. He was trained by Rudy Boy Gonzalez at the TWA school which used to be owned by Shawn Michaels. Even if he had been, remember that Spanky didn't exactly get the red carpet rolled out for him either. Okay, they at least used him for a good bit, but as soon as he went back to using the "Spanky" name he got shafted to the B-shows until they needed a bumper to sacrifice to Brock. Tip to London: find and rub elbows with some powerful friends... I don't see why L+K can't be the current Hardy-ish blowjob tag team, though. Even if they don't get massive pushes they're still useful to bookers.
tekcop Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 I don't really know how tall London is, but he really didn't look that small in there with the Dudleys today. Besides, he's already better than Shawn Michaels was at his age. I know WWE's trying to get away from big bumps and high spots, but a TLC match would get London over huge.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Oh knock it the fuck off, London is good in small doses, when he can hit his "indy spots!" Otherwise, whether or not you wanna see "cruiserweight moonsault dropkicks" or not...be realistic. He does have a pretty cool website, however....www.paul-london.com.
Art Sandusky Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 I missed Smackdown tonight, did he talk. I don't care what kind of promo he could cut in the indies. This is WWE, much more pressure.
CanadianChick Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Well, him and Kidman had a mini backstage promo ("We got to win to get some respect!" "Yeah!"), but no interview or anything like that, if that's what you mean.
Guest Kid Kablam Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Oh knock it the fuck off, London is good in small doses, when he can hit his "indy spots!" Otherwise, whether or not you wanna see "cruiserweight moonsault dropkicks" or not...be realistic. That would be true and all.... if London were a spot monkey. Have you seen him sell? He's fantastic. And I'm not talkig about plain old bumping, I'm talking about long term selling. Just cause he went through the indies doesn't mean he's completely devoid of real skills.
Guest justinpayne Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 I think london is a great wrestler and should be pushed but I don,t believe he will you can't just compare him to shawn and say he will be pushed to shawn had thinks going for him london dosen't: Shawn had the klique londons connections are nothing if being trained by Shawn gets you a spot then would spanky have been fired also if Shawn was pushing for him students to get pushed wouldn't Michael Shane at lest be in wwe?, also Shawn came in at a time where being a hoss was going out for people that have in-ring ablity right now on smackdown they are pushing more towards bigger guys again, and Shawn had Bret to work with who dose london have to work with to show him off at this time?
