ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2004 Just was watching WrestleMania XV on tape again, and a thought came to me. What moments in wrestling that were supposed to be serious did you find funny? The reason WrestleMania XV brought that up for me is because of the "hanging" segment in at the end of the Hell in a Cell match. Bossman's reaction just made me laugh for some reason. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2004 I remember laughing when Big Show was going t kill Torrie...and she kept having fits about "not my car, Show!" I kept thinking RUN FOR YOUR LIFE BITCH! He's gonna kill you. And she mentioned her poor car a number of times durring that bit.
strummer 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2004 very obscure one. I think it was in late 88, early 89, on Prime Time when The Brooklyn Brawler attacked Gorilla Monsoon. The Brawler comes storming out of a locker and nails Monsoon from behind with a chair. Monsoon, who I believe hadn't taken a bump in about 10 years at this point, VERY akwardly and gingerly collapses face first into the broadcast table. For some reason I could not stop laughing. To see Gorilla just laying face down "knocked out" while Heenan is going crazy in the background was hilarious to me. They played it off as a serious angle, but to see the 60-70 yr' old Monsoon take a TERRIBLE looking bump was just funny to me.
Papacita 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2004 The nWo beatdown at Disney MGM. Rey getting darted into the trailer had my dying. Also, Eddie's and Chyna's break up angle in 2000. Right after she breaks up with Eddie, Billy Gunn comes up to him and cuts this strong (for him, I guess) promo telling him to stay away from Chyna. He's like, "Pick up that cheap ass ring of yours, because I'm never ever gonna allow you to get close to her ever again. *COMPRENDES?!* ESS-AYYYY?!" Then as soon as he turns around, Eddie grabs a bottle and hits him over the head with it. Probably doesn't translate well on here, but that scene had me laugh so hard. Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2004 When the Big Show went NWO in the WWF, I could not stop laughing. With the NWO posing in the ring, and JR being all, "DAMN HIM! DAMN HIM TO HELL! STRAIGHT TO HELL!" It seemed cliched with JR yelling his usual catchphrases at the evil bad guys, when really it was like, "Who gives a fuck?" It seemed more of a parody of a successful WWE angle than an actual serious, show changing moment.
Papacita 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2004 It seemed cliched with JR yelling his usual catchphrases at the evil bad guys, when really it was like, "Who gives a fuck?" On a similar note, remember when HHH cost Austin a title match against Angle in early 2001? "DAMN YOU, HHH! DAMN YOU! YOU SCREWED AUSTIN YOU SONUVABITCH!!!!! DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU! DAMN YOUR SOUL!!!!!" And what made it that much more funny was that HHH was posing on the announce table while JR was saying all this, so you actually see him pointing up and screaming at HHH. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2004 how about when Test got on his knee, not asking Stephanie to marry him, but just asking her on a date...when is the last time you guys got on your knee to ask a girl out?
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2004 During the nWo's run in June 2002 they met Brock in the locker room. Heyman mouths off to Shawn so Shawn and Brock go nose. Shawn & Brock(crowd pops) Nash walks up to Brock(crowd pops louder) Big Show walks up to Brock(silence)
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2004 That reminds me of something that happened during the latter days of WCW. Goldberg had beat up and injured Hulk Hogan the week before, so Horace Hogan came out and cut a serious and emotional promo challenging Goldberg to a match... Crowd: *Silence* Goldberg, the heel, comes out... The crowd pops!
Guest BrokenWings Report post Posted August 11, 2004 Paul Bearer getting buried in concrete. It was just so cheesy.

Aero 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2004 Just about every second of the Kane/Lita/Matt baby angle. I get the feeling WWE doesn't want people to laugh. I agree with Boss Man being hung. Michael Cole's commentary is gold. "KING, IS IT SYMBOLIC!? BOSS MAN IS DEAD! (10 second silence)... Well folks, what about that Wrestlemania Rage Party last night!" Obviously those weren't Cole's exact words, but they're close.

ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2004 Another moment from a WrestleMania...ironically in an Undertaker match as well: Triple H grabbing the sledgehammer at WrestleMania X-Seven...holding it like it was an extension of himself. We're suppossed to be worried since he's bringing it into the ring, but I laugh because of the way he seems to want to fondle that sledgehammer.
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2004 The entire Big Show/Boss Man saga of late 1999. The epitome of entertaining Wrestlecrap. It was just odd to see the Boss Man as the #1 Contender to begin w/ and then not really give a shit about winning the Title . . . just torment the Big Bastard Paul Wight. And that came right after Boss Man's epic feud w/ Al Snow (w/ Pepper Steak as the main course). I miss The Big Bossman.
Australian Pride 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2004 Undertaker turning heel and forcing JR to join the 'kiss my ass' club. JR's acting was soooooo bad in this segment that it ended up being hysterical when he got his head rammed into Vince's ass.

I can think of something better and funnier: Kane setting Jim Ross on fire, so he can FEEL HIS PAIN! I rest my case in the mens bathroom.
Guest The Decadent Slacker Report post Posted August 12, 2004 In WCW when Hogan was ready to go back to the red & yellow, his son showing him his old gear in a SYMBOLIC GESTURE. I laughed my ass off twice. The Greater Power, mainly because i called it the moment RAW went off the air the week prior. I don't know if it qualifies, but the whole Brock/Goldberg WM20 match. Never laughed so hard & had no one around get the reason Oh & Kane beating Jericho for being a purdy man back in '00. Great...terrible stuff.

ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2004 Another one I just thought about: The Darkside Wedding. For some reason, Paul Bearer being a wedding preacher makes me laugh... Course, I had a theory that the reason that Undertaker was doing that because he saw the future, seeing the McMahon-Helmsley era...and wanted to prevent that. Marrying Stephanie would have been the best way, but the faces involved with all their ignorance prevented that.
Brocklock 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2004 JR being set on fire Man, I can't believe it took nearly 20 posts for someone to say it. Basically everything involving Kane since he lossed the mask. I mean burning J.R.'s ass, tombstoning Linda, slipping off the top rope, electrocuting Shane's balls, the ultra serious promos in the dark rooms, The Shane dinner, Lita's acting for the first two or 3 months of the Kane/Lita saga, and trying to light RVD on fire and the matches not working. Show killing Angle was only funny because of Torrie's attempts at acting. Show did good as the psycho and Angle did good, but Torrie was awful. Aside from the beatdown from Austin in 2001, anything remotely serious that involves J.R. at all is funny.

Speaking of which... It's time for the Test/Stephanie wedding, and the get all set up, blah, blah, blah. Anyways, Test comes out, who Stephanie has quite often called Andrew, and he is announced as Test! At his own wedding! To his entrance music! Oh man, that was a good one. CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2004 Remember when Kane first took off the mask? That was hilarious! Number One: Why is Kane wearing badly applied makeup? When did he shave his head? Number Two: RVD's face was so funny. He looked like a little kid at Christmas, waiting for his presents.
Guest Staravenger Report post Posted August 12, 2004 Only one thing could've explained Kane's original look..."Larry of The Three Stooges try-out blunders". Why did he have black charcoal covering his face, but the next week he's completely fine? The second Kane unmasked I collapsed laughing and thought Kane's career was over just by looking at him. I guess I can say the same thing for the Shane McMahon feud....Undertaker feud....Edge feud....Lita/Matt Hardy feud... Damn, who did Kane piss off? I don't think ANYONE has gotten so many shitty storylines in a span of 1 year...except The Undertaker in 1994-95.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2004 One more I just found again: McMahon peering up from the ring apron at WrestleMania XIX. I know he's suppossed to be serious and stuff, but the expression on Vince's face cracks me up.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2004 I've got the best one...if you can remember/imagine this. Remember when Sid destroyed his leg at WCW Sin 2001? AWFUL moment. And NO, I don't find that funny. What I DO find funny is this... In March 2001, WCW led up to a Scott Steiner Vs. DDP main event at WCW Greed. Scott Steiner attacked Page on a television program, after the main event, with a lead pipe. WCW Security intervened and broke it up. Situation resolved...right? Wrong. In an effort to create the "serious situation" of Steiner being a "killer"...and capitalize on Sid's inujury, WCW put a security PLANT in the ring, who tried to stop Scott's attack. Steiner used his lead pipe and HIT THE SECURITY GUARD IN THE LEG. Ouch, right? And then, the security guard, who had a FAKE GIMMICK LEG, had an empty pant leg "dangle" as if Scott had just hit it and SEVERED IT FROM THE LIMB. I can't make this up. Tony Schiavone went beserk, acting as if we, the fans, should all say our prayers and pray to God that Steiner doesn't ever hurt us that way. How DARE you, Scott Steiner, make that man's LEG FALL OFF. And it was HILARIOUS.
